FFS disability is now on the pride flag

I'm livid. I'm disabled and I do not want to be represented on the LGBTQ+ flag.

Also this quote: Dayna Halliwell (she/her), Content and Engagement Manager at Evenbreak, led the collaboration and organised the Pride visit. She said: “It was very moving and amazing to see the reaction of disabled people in the audience. You could see the joy on their faces of being represented in the parade.”

Disability and diversity of any kind are not flags. The whole thing is ridiculous.

paywalled · 16/07/2024 09:37

I can just imagine Stonewall denouncing anyone who disagrees with them as ableist now. As well as denouncing women's disabled spaces that don't allow men.

AlisonDonut · 16/07/2024 09:37

if there is a porn fetish about it, it goes on the flag.

That's the rule right?

WaitingForMojo · 16/07/2024 09:05

It’s a celebration of diversity, is it not?

Unless you’re incredibly homophobic and don’t want to be associated, I don’t see why you’d have a problem with it.

If it's a true celebration of diversity, why isn't there a nod to biological women on there? Or the elderly? Or religion?

TemuSpecialBuy · 16/07/2024 09:37

CatMumSlave · 16/07/2024 09:27

@SonicTheHodgeheg

LGB and TQ are different things too. The former are sexual identities and the latter are gender identities which are not the same at all.

This is what I don't get. Why group them all?

To legitimise fetishists and AGPs and probably a couple of paedos too who want to push boundaries and normalise themselves in wider society

ShillingForLabour · 16/07/2024 09:39

God that flag keeps getting uglier and uglier.

DoIWantTo · 16/07/2024 09:40

@WaitingForMojo does that mean I’m homophobic against myself for not wanting my disabilities included in the flag?

Personally I’m extremely content in my sexuality and the fact that I’m bisexual and currently dating a woman. Being disabled still has absolutely nothing to do with my sexuality, it’s got jack shit to do with anyone but me and your attitude of “look at me, I’m disabled AND gay! Pity me, celebrate me!” is the reason so many are turning away from the community now. We’re sick of the attention seekers that tar us all with the same brush, we’re sick of the look at me attitude being the reason it’s STILL unsafe to be anything but straight. Reign it in and stop doing our community harm.

Oh, bloody hell, now I don't know if I'm included in the inclusivity for being disabled, not-included for being a 'cis' white heterosexual, or excluded for being a terf 🤔

Have they included or excluded old people yet? That could clarify my inclusivity status! Or not.

Bloody love this post 🤣

AlisonDonut · 16/07/2024 09:40

This is Cultural Buckaroo.

CrunchyCarrot · 16/07/2024 09:40

It's definitely not a celebration of diversity, but of division. Humanity needs to throw away these flags and just learn to get on with and accept one another for who they are.

JusteanBiscuits · 16/07/2024 09:43

It's just including the disabled people who already fall under the banner, as it were. The inclusion has been led by LGBTQ disabled people. They want this inclusion. It's not about you.

needsomewarmsunshine · 16/07/2024 09:43

The new flag can fuck right off as can the people promoting it, a right bunch of wankers.

Until LGBTQ people are able to live their lives without fear of attack I will support their right to celebrate how ever they wish.

There is. You know the part of the flag that is to the right of the black lines? That is for biological women. And men.

CocoapuffPuff · 16/07/2024 09:46

Oh my. I hope the Met has the budget to repaint all their cars. NHS budget will need to stretch to new lanyards and ambulance paint jobs too. Councils will need to repaint their crossings, etc etc.

It's a bloody good job all that money isn't needed for anything else

To clarify. You are calling those who identify as queer paedos and fetishists???

Well I'm disabled and I don't want my medical issues included with this ideological batshittery.

Is that OK with you? Or am I not the right kind of disabled to qualify for a voice?

Ffs educate yourself.

pilo7 · 16/07/2024 09:47

I think it's outrageous that vegans, the left-handed and the cat-gender community aren't represented. 'Inclusion' my arse.

Please point out the part of this flag that represents disabled, white, heterosexual people (all those elements, not just one).

JusteanBiscuits · 16/07/2024 09:45

My point stands.

Nothing for women. Just 'women AND MEN.

So everyone then.

Ergo, it's all pointless posturing that can't even decide what it stands for.

JusteanBiscuits · 16/07/2024 09:49

AstonScrapingsNameChange · 16/07/2024 09:47

Ffs educate yourself.

I am very well educated on it, thank you.

I'm asking them to clarify what they are saying. Are they calling anyone who identifies as queer and paedophile and fetishist?

WaitingForMojo · 16/07/2024 09:05

I'm a lesbian and I don't want to be associated with that flag or indeed any 'rainbow' flag.

Am I homophobic?

CocoapuffPuff · 16/07/2024 09:49

I'd like a little lightening bolt added somewhere, to make me feel included (epileptic). Who do I call to put in my request?

Actually, that's a good question. Which organisation actually throws these monstrosities against good design together?
