Same here: it was women i.e. Tinsel’s writing, and the Transwidow threads, and Jennifer’s interview with Glinner that helped me see that my sympathy was being manipulated and helped me realise that women/children/LGB boundaries need enforcing 100% with no exceptions for 'nice' boundary pushers.

If I’m remembering this correctly, Hayton was at A Woman’s Place meeting back in Feb 2018. When he stood up to give all us women the benefit of his wisdom, he was loudly heckled by (I think?) Julia Long & her fellow-attendees. At the time I thought ‘that’s a bit unkind!’ Obviously I didn’t have the full measure of him (& others like him) at that point. Obviously others did. A lot of us I think should have paid more attention to those warning us. But most of us get to ‘no fucks left to give!’ in the end..

Actually, it’s just occurred to me that Glinner might also have a conflict of loyalty/support because of Hayton’s article about JKR. Glinner has been very supportive online of Rowling’s campaign against compelled speech relating to the Hate Crime Act; it’ll be interesting to see how that plays out.

I think a lot of women have assumed that as 'transsexuals' have been around for a long time, and havent really hit the news, it is possible to return to a time when we called men 'she' out of politeness and they didnt push boundaries.

Women are saying no as they realise that its impossible to go back to a happy compromise on both sides, and are even questioning if this compromise ever existed.

Its just funny how the more academic or high profile feminists have been late to that conclusion.

I may well be wrong. It just sounds violent, and like it means forcing your way in, in quite crass language. For me it's always signalled a rape euphemism but I'd be pleased to be wrong! I've never used it for this reason.

Trans people get to opt in and out of categories, trans, 'real' women/ men, or their actual birth sex ( see Eddie Izzard playing men's acting roles or trans men competing in women's sport).

Whereas us actual women are relegated to a sub category in our own sex class (cis women)

Yeah, trans identified people get to expand their potential categories, and services ( see sexual survivor groups where they can choose between the women's one, the male one or the trans one) whilst reducing ours.

I don't really keep up with the twitter stuff (I appreciate those who share things of interest) so I'm a bit surprised from what you've said that Bindle was a supporter of Hayden. Her book doesn't really pull it's punches, in the way that say Stock's book does.

I think there was a bit of relief that some TW appeared to accept what feminists were saying about GI and it was convenient to have some defense against the accusations of trans phobia.

But when you see that actually they are still trying to access female spaces and that GC feminists are being used as a kind of extreme difficulty setting in the sport of "where can I get accepted as a woman?" (where other TW target e.g. a job running a rape crisis centre advertised as being for a female, or winning business woman of the year when only dressing "as a woman" part time). And understand as TinselAngel has said that including TW automatically excludes their spouse/ex spouse and kids.
