Male friend on FB (a doctor no less), telling me that trans women are real women.

Blondiebeachbabe · 29/04/2024 21:48

I shared a meme on FB, about not supporting trans women in female sports.

A male friend of mine, who is a GP, commented that trans women are real women 🙄 I replied that trans women are men, and that my gripe was men in women’s sports, and men (rapists like Karen White), being housed in female prisons.

He then said that he knew lots of trans men, who just wanted to live a peaceful life, and I’m thinking well yes, because they are actually biologically female!

He then went on to quote all manner of statistics about violence from men against trans women and how trans women are at more risk of violence than cis women (I hate that term). and how cis women are more likely to be attacked by cis men than trans women.

It’s been annoying me all day. Here is another male telling me what to think, but also, whether the violence comes from normal men against trans women (who are men), or trans women against real women, this is essentially a male violence problem.

Because, we as women, aren’t the perpetrators in any of this. So men, stay in your own lane and sort out all your shit. You don’t get to throw the men you don’t like into our lane (bathrooms and prisons), and make us your collateral damage.

If a fox said that it felt like it was a chicken, you wouldn’t let it sleep in the chicken coup, just in case it was lying.

I may not have articulated this in the best way!

Sssssh, they don't want this to get out!

Or that a lot of them magically find their inner woman just in time to demand they are sent to women’s prisons.

ncduetooutingsituation · 30/04/2024 08:26

You could tell him you identify as a Doctor.
Tell him you have always known you were a Doctor.

If he asks where you obtained your qualifications, tell him he's a bigot and not very inclusive.
He needs to be more open minded.
All he needs to do is redefine the word Doctor.

Cauliflowery · 30/04/2024 08:27

Don't play his misogynist linguistic games. It's pretty fucked up to be arguing about whether your inescapable lived reality is real with a member of the class responsible for a huge percentage of the crap you've dealt with as a woman. I don't do this with men any more.

He's had a doctor's university education, he knows who is female and who is male.

Get to the point and ask why he's willing to lie/ perpetuate an untruth? What does he stand to gain by lying? What would he lose if he stopped lying? Does he ever consider what women gain / lose? Does he think his faith-based belief in trans ideology is ever going to set him at odds with his professional practice? It wouldn't be the first time religion and medicine have clashed.

And if he ever visits your home you can have some fun by getting all postmodern back at him with nouns that are particularly important to him. Especially fun if he's ever expressed a preference for a particular food or beverage!!

Oh and make sure he never refers to you as a woman if he persists in pretending the word is gender-identity based. That would be misgendering and he wouldn't want to be a hypocrite I'm sure.

Mention that Dr Who is a real doctor and see if it confuses him.

😂

why do you feel so strongly about this? Do you know any transwomen?
I don’t want men taking women’s sports titles

I don’t want men in female bathrooms

I don’t want men in female changing rooms

I don’t want men (especially rapists) in female prisons

I don’t want a man to win “woman of the year” at anything

I don’t want men with no periods being the face of tampons

I don’t want men with no breasts advertising sports bras

I don’t want men in dresses telling lesbians to like lady dick

I don’t want hairy Paul (who today says he’s Paula) on the changing rooms with little girls

I could go on and on. Why don’t you feel strongly about this ? You’re either a man (with no daughters) or you are walking through life with a blindfold on.*

so clearly put! Genius.

I agree with you 100 percent!

Urgh me too. What is their motivation? Get out you’re not women and you are not wanted in our spaces.

Not by law

Around 5,000 GRCs have been issued, with the associated legal fiction that sex markers have changed.

Self-ID is not law in the UK.

Transwomen are male. It’s the biological requirement for being one.

PoppySeedBagelRedux · 30/04/2024 09:18

I was just coming to post that rebuttal.

So many people misunderstand the position mostly due to the slippery language that is IMHO deliberately used.

The difference between sex and gender for these purposes is hard enough to grasp when you get 'gender' used when 'sex' is meant. it took me ages to remember, when DD was going through her 'be kind' phase age 17.

So many people think that trans identifying men have surgery to whip off their willies. Well, they don't even have to do this, to get a Gender Recognition Certificate.

Without their dress wigs and makeup (& not all of these men even bother with that) you'd have no idea they were trans. HTH.

MyLadyDisdainlsYetLiving · 30/04/2024 09:24

Fungi pie seems rather familiar

i have seen them elsewhere in other topics posting in the same fact free style.

PickAChew · 30/04/2024 09:38

Notamum12345577 · 30/04/2024 07:51

Not by law

No amount of dressing up, surgery and certificates can make them female. No matter how many layers of disguise or how many bits they turn into patchwork, they retain male biology.

About those transwomen who have turned away from male violence……

To feel so strongly about this subject is a little strange. All you have stated are the worst-case statistics, such as 92% of crimes are committed by men. Remember, most men don't commit crimes to start with!

Realistically, in a functional real-world scenario, the existence of trans people won't affect you. Maybe the bathroom one will. However, the only outcome of that will be genderless bathrooms, which will guarantee that you see men regardless of your beliefs.

Oh dear. Imagine mentioning most men don't commit crimes and not realising that it proves our point.

SinnerBoy · 30/04/2024 09:55

Oh dear. Imagine mentioning most men don't commit crimes and not realising that it proves our point.

Most of us don't, I hope, but enough of us do to make members of our sex a problem in general. It's not pleasant to admit, but it's a hard, incontrovertible fact.

therealcookiemonster · 30/04/2024 10:01

Blondiebeachbabe · 29/04/2024 21:54

Exactly! And if all you have to do to be a woman. is put on a dress, maybe I should put on a suit when my period is due, and then it won’t happen. 🙄

if only that worked!

Exactly. Which is why we have single sex spaces as we don’t know which men will be a danger. No matter how they identify.

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 30/04/2024 10:39

Christ, how fucking irritating.

I think I'd have lost it and said, "It's embarrassing that an actual medical doctor who presumably had to study both anatomy and reproduction as part of his compulsory taxpayer-funded training is pretending not to understand that humans can't change sex, all because it's currently fashionable to pretend to be very, very stupid."

JellySaurus · 30/04/2024 10:50

Realistically, in a functional real-world scenario, the existence of trans people won't affect you.

Sure, their existence won't affect us, any more than the existence of other people affects us.

The pretence that men are women will affect us.

It already affects us, when rapists are locked up with women in women's prisons, when female patients are raped by male patients on female wards, when such rapes are denied by establishment as 'could not have happened as there are no men patients on female wards', when male athletes break female athletes' bones in sports competitions, when male athletes take podium places (any places) from female athletes, when men present their view as the woman's view, when women are tied to their homes by the urinary leash imposed upon them by encouraging men to use women's toilets and changing rooms.

It will affect us when the claim that the 'gender pay gap' has been shrunk is validated by males being recorded as women but paid as men, when governing bodies concerned with equal representation claim to have achieved that because they count men as women.

"Bathrooms" have always been "genderless", because gender is literally imaginary.

There is no such thing as a bathroom, or toilet, or hospital ward, or prison, or rape crisis group, which "matches" any kind of "gender".

The only question is, is there still a justification for these things being single sex? If there is, and I think the vast majority of people would agree that there is, single sex spaces should actiually be single sex. Not single sex, except for a few people who believe they should be the exception to the rule. Their gender identity is literally not relevant to anyone else. Their sex is.

I am not sure why you think the only possible outcome of this debate is everything being made mixed sex. Most people don't support that. The outcome feminists are aiming for is that everyone stops pretending humans can change sex and we return to some semblance of sanity where any man who enters a female only space can be asked to leave.

Like Karen White, Barbie Kardashian and many others? Like all those TRAs who threaten to rape JKR? How convenient to identify as not violent as well as not men.

And the ones who punch old ladies in the face?

Thank goodness the Suffragettes didn't have this attitude.

I tell you what considering trans people are vanishingly rare a lot of people seem to know a lot of trans people! Which just doesn't fit does it?

I just don't trust people who say 'I know a lot of trans .... '

I know quite a lot of trans people. (FWIW, they don't want a big fuss, they just want to be able to use public toilets without getting their heads panned in.)

I guess i know so many because they all have all sought out a community of people who accept and understand them. So to some extent id say if you know one trans person socially (not through work or family) you probably know a few.

Waitingfordoggo · 30/04/2024 11:55

they just want to be able to use public toilets without getting their heads panned in.)

I think most people want this for trans people. I don’t want to see anyone subjected to violence.

Can I ask though- is this a widespread problem? Trans people being physically assaulted? It’s not something I hear much about from my DC’s trans friends.

I do know men are prone to violence but I doubt many would beat up a TW in the men’s loos. Fionne Orlander on Twitter has said that they generally don’t have any problems in the men’s loos (Fionne is a TW who looks very feminine).
