Male friend on FB (a doctor no less), telling me that trans women are real women.

Blondiebeachbabe · 29/04/2024 21:48

I shared a meme on FB, about not supporting trans women in female sports.

A male friend of mine, who is a GP, commented that trans women are real women 🙄 I replied that trans women are men, and that my gripe was men in women’s sports, and men (rapists like Karen White), being housed in female prisons.

He then said that he knew lots of trans men, who just wanted to live a peaceful life, and I’m thinking well yes, because they are actually biologically female!

He then went on to quote all manner of statistics about violence from men against trans women and how trans women are at more risk of violence than cis women (I hate that term). and how cis women are more likely to be attacked by cis men than trans women.

It’s been annoying me all day. Here is another male telling me what to think, but also, whether the violence comes from normal men against trans women (who are men), or trans women against real women, this is essentially a male violence problem.

Because, we as women, aren’t the perpetrators in any of this. So men, stay in your own lane and sort out all your shit. You don’t get to throw the men you don’t like into our lane (bathrooms and prisons), and make us your collateral damage.

If a fox said that it felt like it was a chicken, you wouldn’t let it sleep in the chicken coup, just in case it was lying.

I may not have articulated this in the best way!

He’s a misogynistic twat basically. He doesn’t really think TWAW otherwise he wouldn’t be listening to them

So true 😄

DrJoanAllenby · 30/04/2024 00:55

Ask him what he writes in death certificates!

Male or female depending on the patients fantasy beliefs or the factual male or female that matches their birth certificate?

PickAChew · 29/04/2024 23:06

How did he pass his exams? I hope he's not a bloody gynaecologist.

Don't be so ridiculous, obsessing divisively about 'passing exams', like it makes some magical difference as to who can be a doctor and who can't.

If he identifies as a doctor, then he is a doctor, end of.

Are you phobic or something........?

To feel so strongly about this subject is a little strange. All you have stated are the worst-case statistics, such as 92% of crimes are committed by men. Remember, most men don't commit crimes to start with!

Realistically, in a functional real-world scenario, the existence of trans people won't affect you. Maybe the bathroom one will. However, the only outcome of that will be genderless bathrooms, which will guarantee that you see men regardless of your beliefs.

Amazing username.

Great post too, makes sense. Silly me and silly women. Will not worry my pretty little head any longer about such a silly little matter. (So trivial as to have brought down the Scot gov this week.)

They walk among us 🙄

Others have made good rebuttals already, but I feel it is important to throughly refute your weak point because a lot of people have this vague idea that it's ok to ignore an issue if it doesn't directly impact on you, so, ya'kno, just be kind.

The existence of modern slavery, animal cruelty, persecution of women in foreign countries, child abuse and many other societal problems don't directly affect me. But I feel strongly that we should work together to tackle and eradicate these things because they involve humans causing harm and misery for others. That's not strange. That is actually being kind and compassionate and acting as a responsible member of the human race.

Just going by statistics here, he is correct that Trans women (who used to be men to be clear) are very unlikely to attack women. Yes it does happen, but the percentages are very very low.

They didn’t ‘used to be men.’ They remain men.

StealthSpinach · 30/04/2024 06:51

As someone who sees many, many doctors and specialists as a patient, I would not accept opinion or treatment from a doctor who “believes” or states that TWAW. If they can be sufficiently deluded or corrupted to deny basic medical and scientific truth/fact, then I have no confidence whatsoever in their medical knowledge.

Because if she did, she would realise they are real people, who have chosent to turn away from violence linked to masculinity and no risk to anyone.

Real people who happen to be male.
Did you know that according to the MoJ, the number of male prisoners who identify as female have a far higher % of sex / violent crime offenders amongst them than male prisoners who do not identify as female?

Soontobe60 · 30/04/2024 07:04

fungipie · 29/04/2024 22:28

Males 'identifying as women' are NOT 'transwomen'.

That’s the very definition of a transwoman - ‘a male who identifies as a woman’. There is no other way of being a transwoman.
Language is crucial. If we dilute the language we use to describe the sexes, then we erase sex. It’s incredibly wrong to tell men who like to wear make up, lacy underwear, crop tops, wigs that because of their clothing choices they can’t possibly be male. That they just need to have surgery and take cross sex hormones for life which will radically, and irreversibly change their bodies leading to possible lifelong health issues.

Watch this

I watched it. It’s bollocks.

PriOn1 · 30/04/2024 07:18

I have started to point out that these statistics point to men who claim they are women remaining men.

Who is more at risk of male violence than women?

Men, including those who say they’re women. They are more at risk of male violence because they are men and that simply fits the pattern of what sex they are.

1questionfromme · 29/04/2024 22:01

Mention that Dr Who is a real doctor and see if it confuses him.

And Dr Dre and Dr Pepper

So there are plenty of others identifying as Doctors as well and of course this makes them real Doctors.

fungipie · 29/04/2024 22:28

Males 'identifying as women' are NOT 'transwomen'.

😂😂😂😂

That's exactly what they are

ElBandito · 30/04/2024 07:34

Ask him if he thinks Physician Associates are real doctors. Most of them seem to think they are just as good as a 'real' doctor.

Otterly2 · 30/04/2024 07:35

TulipPower1981 · 29/04/2024 22:57

Ask him what makes a woman. It was interesting watching Baby Reindeer and the actor who played the trans was a trans. It was bizarre watching a man who is acting feminine acting. And it was just so fake. The sex scene was cringe. All fake. They're men!

Yes it was awful - a double layer of terrible acting.

Otterly2 · 30/04/2024 07:36

Soontobe60 · 30/04/2024 06:55

Real people who happen to be male.

Sssssh, they don't want this to get out!

AgnesX · 30/04/2024 07:36

Would he sleep with one, I'd lay odds that his liberal attitude stops there.

ivybridget · 30/04/2024 07:49

Soontobe60 · 30/04/2024 07:06

I watched it. It’s bollocks.

🤩
It reminds me of a sketch from The Fast Show or a similar 90s programme. We just need someone to pop up with "scorchio".

On a more serious note, I find some of the ignorance and the "well, it doesn't affect me directly, what's your problem" attitudes utterly depressing. "Be kind" seems only to extend to the self or to someone with an interesting self-identity 🙄 I'd ask what they're teaching in schools these days, but I know the answer to that one 🙄

CosplayingAGrownUp · 30/04/2024 07:50

Perhaps he (the doctor) thinks 'male' and 'female' are useful biological fictions, whilst the legal fictions are more real somehow. I can’t otherwise get the cognitive dissonance. But then again my experience of an Earth Sciences degree with studentsxwho were fundamentalist Christians demonstrated that people are very good at believing several conflicting things at once.

I have met a gp like yours - gay, trans activist, utterly self-assured Loss of women's rights will never affect him and he can be the 'kindest' ever doctor. There is absolutely no point in direct confrontation unless it is for the bystanders (and your own peace of mind!). Their minds will never be changed in a public debate as loss of face is not acceptable. Hopefully they will start running to keep up with the tide once it has receded far enough.

They didn’t ‘used to be men.’ They remain men.

Not by law

2024istheyearforme · 30/04/2024 07:54

I had an argument with one the other day, took my 4 year old daughter in to use toilet, was a bearded massive man, imagine 6ft6 full beard, hair all over about 50, I said sorry this is the ladies isn't it and he told me he is!!! ... A trans woman ....

He hasnt shaved/waxed, he was wearing a tshirt and a leather skirt with fishnet tights and knee high boots..... No I'm sorry that's a fetishiser

SoupChicken · 30/04/2024 07:57

So what he’s saying is he k is full well transwomen are not women, but they’re not ‘proper men’ either and men don’t like them so women should act as human shields for them.

HootyMcBooby · 30/04/2024 07:58

Hmmm interesting.
And would he still treat them as "real women" when they come to him complaining of period pains, endometriosis, bleeding during pregnancy, asking for a cervical exam and so on?
Or if they showed signs of prostate or testicular cancer would he completely ignore it?

Back to medical school for him I think.
On second thoughts, nobody that spouts this garbage deserves to be a doctor giving other people advice.

SinnerBoy · 30/04/2024 08:06

Apollo441 · Yesterday 22:10

The stats about male violence against transwomen are made up bollocks. Taken from transwomen prostitutes in favelas. The stats for violence against female prostitutes are worse.

I was going to say the "stats" are just fake, I didn't realise that. Still, it absolutely doesn't pertain to the situation in the UK, where they are less likely than under 2s to be the victims of violence.

Fungi pie seems rather familiar...

MagpiePi · 30/04/2024 08:14

Because if she did, she would realise they are real people, who have chosent to turn away from violence linked to masculinity and no risk to anyone.

Yep, exactly. No transwomen murderers, rapists, sexual assaulters, or anything like that. No violent crime committed by transwomen. That never happens. Certainly not at typically male rates...nope. No siree. Nothing to see here.

Ah, but they’re not REAL transwomen, according to those who are invested in all this guff.
