I listened to the interview with Dr Cass on R4 (7.30am) and I think I'm a bit in love with her!

She was awesome. Favorite comment, ‘it is quite unusual for us to give treatment with life long implications without an evidence base’.

I love the understatement she uses. We can all read through the lines.

Great thread idea - thanks!

I just saw a piece on BBC Breakfast and it seemed to focus on one TW's wait for care. Tbh I was boiling the kettle but it didn't give the impression that there had been any scandals and their bulletpoint slide was all about better services.

Does anyone have a link to the Joyce interview on 5Live? It’s not available on BBC Sounds

Interesting that it is being featured so heavily after almost a decade of silence about the issues.

So the guardian pit the "lived experience" of a mother who has transed her child against a report which took four years by an expert.

That's the actual problem, the guardian.

See how becoming obsessed with transing children is working out for them.

Is the Guardian in financial trouble?
The publisher lost £36 million in the last nine months of 2023 and is projecting a loss of £39 million by the end of the financial year next month, staff heard.10 Feb 2024

Well you won't be seeing Sally on the news - I have to say this is an ingenious ploy for wriggling out of embarrassing questions. I wonder how many other "allies" will be selflessly leaving it up to trans people to defend the indefensible?

Yes, I saw this. The BBC just can't stop promoting the transing of children. It is too deeply embedded. They very grudgingly gave a brief mention of Keira Bell.

Debbie Hayton was on times radio about 10 minutes ago. Wasn’t he involved in drafting the bad guidance for schools? If so you wouldn’t have known it from his comments today.

Not tv or radio, but an entirely unsurprising take from the Guardian: https://www.theguardian.com/society/2024/apr/10/mother-criticises-agenda-from-above-cass-report-trans

The Guardian's take is, not surprisingly, so irresponsible. The anonymous mother is quoted as saying " I would much rather my child was growing up in a way in which she wasn’t sticking out like a sore thumb and potentially going to end up dead." There is no way they should be making this link - or publishing the fact their interviewee has.

And it's marked that while Cass is their top story, they currently have no opinion pieces on the failings it highlights. It's still Zoe W blathering on about her hols or pets or something, plus Gaza and the Post Office scandal. Nothing on this morning's big, breaking story. It's like it caught them unprepared... or in denial.

Radio 4's 10amnews bulletin led with the Cass report, but then had a comment from a trans previous Big Brother(?) winner who said that he thought the increase in people seeking gender treatment was becasue society was more accepting and allowing people to explore aspects of their personality.

I think the BBC is going to be 'Here is a very important report but we need to hear from a pro-trans voice for balance'

R4 news at 10am chose a trans contestant on Big Brother to provide comment, which was centred on acceptance and 'living your truth'.
