They / them at work

I've just written a long post and it's disappeared so in brief - how do you deal with staff who are they/them at work? I will really struggle to call a very obvious biological male 'they'. I also can't loose my job and do want to be respectful but also can't change my view on this nonsense !

And most of the time it’s men that are responsible, not trans women.
**
Most if the time it is men that are responsible. Transwomen are men, by definition. Men who (would like to) think of themselves as in some sense women, but who are demonstrably men.

TathingScinsel · 18/03/2024 10:25

I don’t have a problem with them, I just think they are irrelevant to the U.K.

Got anything relevant?

The US sneezes and the U.K. catches a cold.

Movements and social trends in the U.K. often mirror what’s happening in the
US.

Plus, I posted a link to a study reported in the Guardian about violence against trans people trending upwards in the U.K.

If you read all this posters posts they have cycled from wheedling and "bekind" to linking to studies without reading them, to abuse, to forced teaming, to linking to studies without reading them, to wheedling and "bekind" and back to abuse.

Wheedling 🤣🤣🤣🤣 You sound like I’m trying to sell you double glazing!

I skim the studies to get the gist bc that’s all I have time to do. They are all from reputable universities. The point of posting them is so that others can read and absorb them if they wish.

I also don’t know what forced teaming us. Will look it up.

Do you mean this link?

Apologies if I have the wrong one.

It appears you have missed the point again.
The point being that you have not read the full study or provided your own analysis of the findings of it.

In fact, I would love to hear what you think of the full study and its findings.

So this is completely unfounded: You just don’t want to accept them because they contradict your prejudice. So you try to attack my research skills as a very weak way of discrediting the studies.

If you would love to hear what I think about a study, I’ll try to find time to read it in-depth. Which particular one?

Peskysquirrel · 18/03/2024 12:26

@Belichtofalicht The UCLA study that you yourself referred to upthread.

The guardian mis represents things all the time to support the male supremacy movement. You need to read the studies themselves not rely on misogynistic arts graduates to properly report them.

Peskysquirrel · 18/03/2024 12:29

The study in the Guardian - if it is that study PP means, I've asked PP to clarify - refers to "transgender deaths in US on rise with increase in anti-trans laws" and not in the UK, as PP stated.

calling laws anti trans show clear bias and suggests extreme caution in seeking through potential misleading claims. it's rhetoric not scientific balance.

But oestrogen treatment makes trans women weaker and less aggressive than men, no?

worstofbothworlds · 18/03/2024 12:33

Belichtofalicht · 18/03/2024 12:13

Well, many spaces ARE mixed. Most council pools have mixed changing rooms and showers. Yes, that must be uncomfortable for some women. I wasn’t mad on it myself. Women are vulnerable everywhere in public, including walking down the street. And most of the time it’s men that are responsible, not trans women.

Until you've given us an infallible way to tell men from transwomen, we will need to treat them the same.
And you won't tell us the way we can distinguish them, so I'll carry on as I am, thanks.

I will read it thoroughly and get back to

You have to request a copy from the source given. Which is why I was impressed earlier that you had done that already.

They remain significantly stronger and more aggressive than woman, no?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 18/03/2024 09:54

I haven't seen you acknowledge the false claim you made earlier about the number of trans murders @Belichtofalicht

There have been so many posts. What did I say about the number of trans murders? I’m on the mini iPhone, the SE2020 with the really small screen.

No.
Look at “Sarah Jane Baker”…

Plus, most TW don't take hormones treatment and it's the blocking of testosterone which largely affects their strength. However their testosterone levels can't be brought anyway near female levels, even levels for women who have top end of normal amounts.

literalviolence · 18/03/2024 12:35

I think estrogen tempers the aggression created by testosterone, but I don’t know by how much.

A study linked on here somewhere says trans women remain 36 percent stronger than women.

Belichtofalicht · 18/03/2024 12:39

Regardless, most trans women are not violent just like most people are not violent.

I don't know why you're ignoring the point about why not make everything mixed sex then. Tw are as violent, at least according to crime stats, as men. most men won't be violent to a tw.

Belichtofalicht · 18/03/2024 12:42

Peskysquirrel · 18/03/2024 11:32

I’ve done that till I’m blue in the face. I’m easy to understand for anyone who wants to understand.

Just to say that when you do, it would be best to start a completely new thread about it. This one has veered away from the original question quite considerably.

I don’t think everything should be mixed because many women aren’t comfortable with that. It’s a pity we don’t have room everywhere for men’s, women’s, and other.
