They / them at work

I've just written a long post and it's disappeared so in brief - how do you deal with staff who are they/them at work? I will really struggle to call a very obvious biological male 'they'. I also can't loose my job and do want to be respectful but also can't change my view on this nonsense !

Perhaps we should expect male people to accept biologically male people presenting in any way they choose. There is no reason for any man to attack another man, in the gents or anywhere else, because he is dressed in a non conforming manner. It is for men to put their house in order, not to invade the women's spaces instead.
As an aside, how does one live as a woman?

More silly, disingenuous questions. Look at the NHS guidelines if you really have no idea what that could possibly mean.

I agree with what you say about men. Sadly, at the moment that is far from reality.

JanesLittleGirl · 17/03/2024 16:58

So Lia Thomas is a chancer, Eddie Izzard is a weirdo and Nicki Jager is a lovely person. @Belichtofalicht , how did you develop this skill?

Not at all silly, do you not think that men should be kind to other men who are gender non conforming?
Please tell me what you believe living as a woman looks like, and a link to the nhs guidelines would be useful, at this point.

Oooh, I don’t know. Maybe having a working brain and being able to make judgements and deductions? I actually explained my thoughts on Lia and Nikki. I don’t remember saying anything about EI though. I barely even know who he is. Have lived mostly abroad for twenty years.

Your judgements and deductions are completely irrelevant - all of them are male transwoman, all of them have the same ability to impose themselves on women’s spaces. There isn’t a sliding scale of acceptability.

Belichtofalicht · 17/03/2024 17:10

The denial of facts on here is just incredible, but I guess that’s how prejudiced people can hold those beliefs and still kid themselves that they’re good eggs.

Brianna Ghey wasn’t murdered for being trans.

Trans people are in no danger.

Trans people don’t even exist; they’re all their bio-born sex.

😳

Find your own link, and you know what living as a woman means. I’m not playing your silly game.

You really should do better research. They were not charged with a ‘hate crime’. They were charged with, and found guilty of murder. It was acknowledged at sentencing that Justice Yip described the murder as "sadistic in nature" and, referring to Ratcliffe, "where a secondary motive was hostility towards Ghey because of her transgender identity
Both were diagnosed as having Autism.

If what you say is right, then the Wikipedia article in the case is completely wrong. You should let them know.

But you’ve just confirmed what I said. One of the charges was transphobia, and since BOTH were convicted of Brianna’s murder, transphobia was a motive in her murder.

You just don’t want to accept that she was murdered for being trans, because if your prejudice towards trans people. Anyone with half a brain can see that that’s a big part of why those two glommed on to her. She was vulnerable, as many trans people are.

But trans people don’t exist, so we don’t care. Right?

That’s because there is no such NHS guideline on ‘this is what living as a woman looks like’.

It’s not true that women don’t want to share loos with normal, genuine trans women. I’m a woman, and I don’t mind.

As for religious opposition, in the West we have separation of church and state, and the state governs these laws, not a religion. That’s an unfortunate reality for the ultra-religious living in Western countries.

They’ve probably shared loos lots of times with trans women and had no idea.

Most women mind and their consent does matter. We do not give away other people's rights just because it doesn't bother us personally.

I think you can only live as a woman if you have a woman's body. So TW can't live as women. What does it mean to you? I genuinely have no idea but perhaps gender stereotypes are not something which you reject?

I live as a woman, because I am one, born a female with xx chromosomes, went through female puberty and then menopause. My living as a woman is not identical to that of other women my age, our biology is the only thing we can be sure that we have in common.

Like I said, it was the case 25 years ago. Look it up. I’m not doing the work for you. You’re the one who wants verification, so you go ahead and get it.

You’re acting dim, pretending you don’t know what it means to live as a woman. You know exactly what I mean, and I’m not trotting off doing a bunch of work at your behest.

Since you’re the one who’s in ignorance of all this, you educate yourself, and come back and post what you’ve found. Include links and sources, please.

Belichtofalicht · 17/03/2024 17:22

Cue a micro-discussion about EXACTLY what living as a woman means.

If you cannot possibly imagine what that means, I fear for your ability to get dressed in the morning, never mind anything else.

Yes that’s right - I know what it’s like to live as a woman ie an adult human female because I am one. I have all the necessary biological features.

Males do not.

I put on a skirt, a blouse and lipstick obviously. What with being a woman and all.

Can you back up the assertion that ‘most women mind? Because I only know one person in real life who holds this view. Of the many women I know from all walks of life, only one is remotely bothered.

Flivequacle · 17/03/2024 17:30

I find the singular/plural confusion of they/them incredibly irritating. Remembering the wrong-sex singular pronoun is easier than they/them.

Just avoid this man as much as possible. Not worth the hassle with these types.

Isn’t it funny how when asked what it means to “live as a woman”, it’s a bunch of work to construct a response. Surely if it was as intuitive as it’s made out to be, there would be an easily explained response that didn’t need a bunch of work.

The one thing all women have in common is their biology, without that you’re not a woman no matter how many pairs of heels you might have.

You're in a bubble I think. I have worked with lots of traumatised women. They mind. I mind. My family and friends mind. Can anyone back up the idea that most women don't mind? because until that's proven, no one should be letting males into women's spaces.

(unfalsifiable statement for sure, but no worse than you're coming out with)
