"The Spanish equivalent to Stonewall (FELGTB) has been fuming some days because of those military guys who changed their legal sex to female without doing anything else (and keeping beards, wives, everything!), because they were proving us feminists so right.

So finally FELGTB have decided to sue the military guys (who created an organisation called "Non Normative Trans People" (TNN in its Spanish acronym) for "fraud". But TNN have doubled down and said that they are going to sue FELGTB for transphobia, because no reason has to be given for changing your ID and the law says you can't be questioned."

How transphobic of FELGTB, who are they to gatekeep transness?!

Gosh, imagine someone appropriating your identity and pretending to be you and helping themselves to your stuff.

If the law allowing self ID doesn't define "transness" it's impossible to prove that someone is not "trans".

And if the law doesn't stipulate a motive, such as dysphoria, it's impossible to prove fraudulent motives.

It's all in the drafting, really.

It is good on those guys obviously. But my god, what a colossal waste of time and money.

Suing men for not pretending effectively enough to be women whilst insisting there's no criteria and knowing it's imposssible anyway.

How can they sue them for not being trans enough when the only criteria for actually being trans is 'because I said so'?

Dare we hope that this absurd situation where an undefinable category of human exists in law will be exposed for being absolutely unworkable? And that the whole thing will be understood finally for being a philosophical belief and should not be treated as anything but that philosophical belief.

kiiiind? It’s only a tiny number of squaddies self identifying as being not really trans for the sake of getting the benefits. They should budge up and make room and stop gate keeping the meaning of the non sensical words they made vague and meaningless l. NNTP rights are human rights and all that.

When I first heard that men in the Spanish military were self identifying as women to gain access to women’s accommodation, I did not see this coming. Hilarious, well done lads! 😂
