Saw this post on X from Glinner: https://twitter.com/Glinner/status/1767691199794545138

"The Spanish equivalent to Stonewall (FELGTB) has been fuming some days because of those military guys who changed their legal sex to female without doing anything else (and keeping beards, wives, everything!), because they were proving us feminists so right.

So finally FELGTB have decided to sue the military guys (who created an organisation called "Non Normative Trans People" (TNN in its Spanish acronym) for "fraud". But TNN have doubled down and said that they are going to sue FELGTB for transphobia, because no reason has to be given for changing your ID and the law says you can't be questioned."

How transphobic of FELGTB, who are they to gatekeep transness?!

tl;dr someone sum this up in 3 sentences?

Snowypeaks · 15/03/2024 12:04

Official trans lobby group suing upstart newly formed trans group for pretending (🤣) to identify as women in order to access benefits which are available only to women who join the military or police.

The benefits package is to encourage greater representation of women in the military or police force.

These new transitioners are already in the military or police force.

Well that saved 12 pages. Win.

@Emotionalsupportviper I have a Thrift Brownie Badge from the mid-1960s and an 'ABRSM Grade Five Music Theory' (1972?). I don't want to overload myself this early on in the project because of mascot duties but might these be of any use? Oh, and I'm currently searching for an online Level 2 course, maybe City & Guilds, in 'Animal Care with a specialism in Armadillos'. Feel like that some up to date training might be essential.

The fabulous tea cosy pattern is available online. I don't mean to show off my research skills (blushes) but you have to google 'suffragette' and 'tea' and 'cosy'. PM me if you have trouble finding it. I've just ordered the pattern. I have never knitted anything so complicated before and I am wondering what it will turn out like...

I am now lost in a world of tea cosy knitting patterns.

I used to be a sea cadet so can also assist with anything naval. I still have my bosun's call someone if anything needs a good blow...

Ooooh! Thank you!

I've found it.

I'm going to work out if I can change the words to "Women Won't Wheesht!", or perhaps "The Witch They Couldn't Burn"

<starts digging out the graph paper>

Impressive summing up Peaks

You can write the abstract.

Now, now . . .

Ssssh, you'll be summoning the Spanish Inquisition next

Didn't someone mention the Spanish Transquisition upthread?

I think we have our answer.

I'm sorry. I got distracted too. I've just bought the wool to make the suffragette cosy. It appears that there are some 'help videos', including one which shows you how to knit the chain that goes around her body - she's chained herself to the teapot and I like that.😁

Some of those tea cosies are incredible - I also loved the octopus and the lighthouse, (actually loved nearly all of them) but they were wildly impractical. You could actually use little Emmeline.

Edit: spelling

SoupDragonsFriend · 16/03/2024 15:20

@Emotionalsupportviper, that's what I was thinking.

There are also some very tempting witchy tea cosies on other sites as well.
