Yes.

Thank god.

ArabellaScott · 12/03/2024 16:23

Breaking news. I wonder what else is coming.

YireosDodeAver · 12/03/2024 16:24

Wow.

Looks like the article is still being written as it currently just sort of stops with a "More to follow" but this is excellent news.

GrandmaMazur · 12/03/2024 16:24

That sounds promising. Does it mean that the final report for the Cass review will be released soon?

Let's hope the momentum continues.

pardonmytits · 12/03/2024 16:28

About bloody time.

bringbacktheladiesloos · 12/03/2024 16:29

hallelujah!!

Skiphopbump · 12/03/2024 16:29

Excellent news.

PronounssheRa · 12/03/2024 16:29

The only thing that worries me is that it might drive more children towards gender GP etc who appear to be beyond any meaningful regulation (and of course any recourse for patients should anything go horribly wrong). This is something that needs urgent attention

CriticalCondition · 12/03/2024 16:30

Wow.

Excellent news. And more to come by the look of it.

EasternStandard · 12/03/2024 16:31

Fantastic news

BreadInCaptivity · 12/03/2024 16:31

From the article:

NHS England is understood to be hoping to have a study into the use of puberty blockers ready by December.

I wonder if any preliminary findings have had an impact on this decision.....

If (and it is an if) the results are significant from a harm perspective it look much better for the NHS to be able to say "we have already banned them".

MrsOvertonsWindow · 12/03/2024 16:31

The article's just been updated. Telling that "NHS England is understood to be hoping to have a study into the use of puberty blockers ready by December".

All those years of prescribing them to children in the absence of any evidence ,

I see it's under 18s, so an extensive definition of children. This may be good for Irish youngsters as well, since they were being referred to the UK for 'treatment'. Though I suppose there'll be a danger that the people who used to make their income from the NHS will push hard to get more money from the HSE instead - still, the doctors here who opposed the practice will have their hands strengthened.

Indeed....those predicted lawsuits are becoming ever more likely I'd suggest.

heathspeedwell · 12/03/2024 16:34

While I'm not surprised that the evidence shows what we've said all along about the dangers of blockers, and I'm happy that the NHS is finally waking up to the reality, I am also sad that they have been allowed to cause so much harm. I don't know how many young people have been rendered infertile and anorgasmic as a result of this ideology.

bringbacktheladiesloos · 12/03/2024 16:35

"children will receive an “holistic approach to care” from clinical experts in neurodiversity, paediatrics and mental health."

A much more sensible approach.

Tg

There are posters on here who are pro puberty blockers. I’m so glad this harm will be overturned.

From what murmurs I can see, most GPs no longer work with Gender GP. I think they've had it, tbh. Trans identifying people seem to hate them.

CriticalCondition · 12/03/2024 16:38

Let's see how the BBC R4's PM reports this one. Surely even Evan Davies can't find fault with this decision.
