Despite all the recent WPATH revelations and everythign else we now know Angela Eagle has just tweeted that the next Labour government will:

  • Legislate for a trans-inclusive conversion therapy ban
  • Make anti-LGBT+ hate crime an aggravated offence *Modernise Gender Recognition processes
  • Appoint an international LGBT+ envoy

Balhammon I’m looking at examples of countries where this has taken hold under left-wing governments - Australia, Canada… In some states you can have your child removed for not consenting to their medical transition. I’m not sure there’s much a government can do to me which is worse than removing and (physically & mentally) damaging my kids.

Labour drones are the people who respond to any questioning or criticism of Labour with 'BUT TORIES'.

Curious, though - what policies do Labour have that you support? Genuine question.

Check your independents, just in case they are decent

This is what I'll be doing.

PrimalLass · 08/03/2024 09:25

Angela Eagle is yet another example of a seemingly intelligent woman wilfully blind to the negative impact on women or safeguarding for young people in their rush to be an ally to men.

She is funded by GLAAD. Money talks.

Look, they have a running 'accountability' report on celebs. Orwellian.

Moreover, I find it incredibly sad that some women see their sex/gender as the sum total of their existence. Imagine having a life so lacking in ability and ambition that the only thing going for you is your sex or gender.

Well, I’ll bite and say FO with the faux pitying ‘poor you’ incredibly sad comment. Imagine a life so lacking in empathy and awareness that they refuse to see how the female sex is harassed, assaulted, undermined, hindered, and murdered precisely for the sum total of their existence being of the female sex.

This callous and deliberate disregard of the impact of the biological reality of women’s sex is breathtaking.

Neha Paswan was allegedly beaten to death by relatives who disagreed with her choice of clothes.

Really? I didn't know that! When you say funded, in what way?

Edited to add: okay, I did some homework 😉and found some interesting info on this blog

I cant vote for people who openly support harming children and certainly not for those who take money from firms making puberty blockers. So that rules out Labour, Lib Dem, Green. I'll happily vote for the Party of Women if I get that option.

This country does not have enough money to support the level of public services we want. Anyone who thinks Starmer has any more idea on how to fix that than the tories has not been listening. Neither party has much idea on how they are actually going to improve the economy. So all Starmer will have left is throwing women under the bus.

I can't believe that you are using that beautiful girl's death to advance your agenda against trans people. It's totally unrelated and very distasteful.

You need to work on your comprehension skills. Where in my post do I refer to trans people?

Point to the bit that has anything to do with trans people.

Floisme · 08/03/2024 09:39

Regarding alternatives:

The SDP are planning to field quite a lot of candidates according to their website. I'm not sure I like all their policies but I'll certainly check them out.

There will hopefully be a well regarded local independent candidate although they're not declared yet whether they'll definitely stand.

At the moment, I favour an independent. I like the idea of someone who isn't tied to a party line and who has to answer to their neighbours rather than to a party whip.

And no, I don't expect either to come anywhere close to winning but I don't regard picking a winner as the main point of voting. In any case, by picking up votes, including my own, they could definitely do some damage to the favoured candidate.

I'll still wait until I've read the Labour manifesto before I decide. In fact they'll have until polling day to change my mind. There's still time but I've gone way past the pleading and hoping stage.

Peskysquirrel · 08/03/2024 09:39

Cross-posted with @DrBlackbird ! And cross!

So, pointing out how the female sex is harassed, assaulted, undermined, hindered, and murdered precisely for the sum total of their existence being of the female sex is now transphobic!!

HagoftheNorth · 08/03/2024 09:39

ForCoralFox ffs, there is no agenda against trans people! Posters on this board are rightly concerned about the loss of women’s rights and the removal of safeguarding for children.

DrBlackbird · 08/03/2024 09:37

I read the implication as being that this is an example of why sex matters more than gender. I'm sorry if I got that wrong, but you did use the word sex repeatedly.

DrBlackbird · 08/03/2024 09:37

Yes, I could not make this out either. I saw only a general reference to a universal fact regarding the numbers of women and girls (female sex/biology) who are murdered every year.

WickedSerious · 08/03/2024 09:46

Floisme · 08/03/2024 07:06

Why the assumption that anyone who doesn't vote Labour must be a Tory voter? Last time I looked, this was not a two-party state.

Aye,other political parties are available.

How many times do we have to say it?
We are not anti-trans; we are pro women.

I didn't click on the link because I find stories like this too upsetting to read. But if the motive was as stated in the headline, the girl was murdered for not confirming to gendered expectations/social standards. Which is exactly why so many trans people are murdered. And therefore highlights why we should stop defining people by their sex and let them just be people.

What do the Labour supporters on the thread have to say about their attitude to disabled people?

They have lost my vote because of it. But I can afford a protest vote as Labour will easily win in my constituency. If I had to, I would hold my nose and vote for them to keep the Tories out.

ForCoralFox · 08/03/2024 09:58

senua · 08/03/2024 09:47

How many times do we have to say it?
We are not anti-trans; we are pro women.

But by excluding trans women, you are anti trans.

I really hope that a Labour government brings in legislation that dials down some of this noise. It should not be permissable to claim that any group are a sinister, predatory threat. It's only become permissable to say it so freely in Britain because, well, Lee Anderson said the quiet bit out loud, didn't he? I'm hopeful that with a change of government things might eventually calm down on this front.

I remain very concerned about trans people in America though, as well as for all those with uteruses. At least our election is a foregone conclusion. Across the pond it's terrifying.

ArabellaScott · 08/03/2024 09:59

Labour supporters: what Labour policies are going to help women? Be good to hear.

WickedSerious · 08/03/2024 10:02

We can't use the girl as evidence of sex-oppression but we should use her as evidence of gender-oppression? Right, got it.Hmm
