So men can call women cunts with abandon, but here at MNHQ, we have to use their preferred pronouns to "avoid causing harm" or "intentionally causing distress".

Fuck off.

😂😂 Quite.

I’ve got good friends in that police force. They’re so fed up with this shit. When a woman calls a man a man, then the man complains, they really don’t give af. They’ve got real life to deal with 24hrs a day

I can well believe it. They have better things to do, more egregious crimes to deal with - people have really been subjected to "literal violence" - but it seems that this trans shite gets priority every time.

I'll bet that to gives the a-holes on the force (because as you say, there are good and bad everywhere) a sense of power and an opportunity to throw their weight around that the others get thoroughly sick of.

I do think that most of our police are a good bunch - they are let down by politics and the really bad apples who hit the headlines. When they do a job and do it well there is no good, praiseful, publicity. When they make an error, the public is down on them like a ton of bricks. They're between the Devil and the deep blue sea a lot of the time.

💯

Intrigued at the bloke on my Twitter feed commending Willoughby's "gracious" response. He must be following a different account of Willoughby's from the one I know about.

SabrinaThwaite · 08/03/2024 10:28

Michael Foran has put together a good thread on why Windy doesn’t have a leg to stand on.

And why JKR, on the other hand, may well have a case for criminal harassment.

I'm not unconditionally enamoured with JKR's part in this spat, thought she had several opportunities to be the bigger man, so to speak, but this young fool properly dragged this into the sewer, and quite possibly his career with it. Incredibly disappointing and surely harmful to the TRA cause.

TRAs seem to be able to get away with anything.

Datun · 08/03/2024 10:36

Man who calls unintimidated woman putrid cunt, does so on the basis that he bonded with another man who hates her and boasts about violating other women's boundaries. Sounds about right.

Honestly, she mildly took the piss out of him, along with everyone else.

And we all know what happens to women who laugh at men.

He's absolutely been rapped on the knuckles. Rage like that doesn't dissipate overnight.

I wonder if her own lawyer fired off an email.

Because long gone are the days of J. K. Rowling wearing gloves.

Apparently not.

And what a beautiful example of offering your enemy a golden bridge.

Emotionalsupportviper · 08/03/2024 11:06

A beautiful example and a wise and generous move.

He knew that he was on very thin ice, sh@t himself and backed down. JKR accepted his apology. (As she does for with everyone who doesn't double-down.). She's very much "live and let live". Now, if he leaves her and other gender critical people alone, she will leave him alone. She's made her point,

If and when, one day, anything ever gets to court, it will be seen that she is very reasonable, and not going looking for trouble, unlike some other individuals who push the envelope over and over again.

JKR is not contentious - but she isn't a coward either. She knows when to stand up, and when to (graciously) back down.

ArabellaScott · 06/03/2024 20:08

Deliberately misgendering, especially if done so as a personal attack will pretty much always be deleted when reported, as it's just not in keeping with those aims.

What trans activists may call 'misgendering' I call accurately referring to by sex.

It's absurd to say that women can't call a man a man. When we discuss these issues on the 'sex and gender' board a person's sex is highly pertinent.

What this means is that women are being compelled to obey the orders of a man over their own judgement.

And what happens with someone like Bunce? It is ok to call him a man on his male days, but not on his female days? What if someone reads an old post which calls him a man on a day when he is identifying as a woman , are they then party to misgendering.

It is so much easier, and more accurate, to stick to unchanging identities like male and female.

I wish I had a time machine to go forward a few more years when this craziness will all be a distant memory and we can laugh at the folly, like tulip madness.

I wonder if it's writing for children that gives her this sublime ability to rise above it all.

Perhaps it's the empathy that helps her to write, not the other way round.

A slightly more sincere apology from Caolan. Hopefully that is all over now.

I’m really, really sorry. My comments to you were completely horrible honestly I had a breakdown last night. I really respect you and appreciate this so much

The problem is that you get all the other 2bit MRAs popping up to have a go as they want there 5 minutes of fame too.

Careful now. We don’t know that Caolan’s birthing parent uses “she” pronouns. May lead to a deletion.

IcakethereforeIam · 08/03/2024 11:41

Well that seems sincere. I think he needs some credit, he took the initiative and scooped the bigger news sources (I doubt they're particularly gutted though). I hope he's put his old style homophobia behind him. The new style? Well lots of actually gay people fail to recognise it, perhaps can't blame him for that.

I think JKR is canny enough to recognise if a game is worth the candle. Drawing a line under this is the wisest and kindest thing to do. Golden bridges and all that.

A fulsome apology - good for him for holding himself to account and doing the right thing (although I suspect he’s had a sleepless night worrying about the might of the legal team JKR could unleash on him if she so chose!)

That's showing a bit of humility and grace and I can respect that. It's not easy to own your own bad behaviour, fair play to the lad.

BaronMunchausen · 08/03/2024 11:42

Under no circumstances will the police second-guess the perception of a complainant or subject him to questioning or normal evidential requirements. The standard police MO is to visit the accused and ask her under threat of arrest to attend an interview to explain herself. The Malicious Communications Act will be cited. It’s then passed to the CPS who tell them there’s no criminal case - and the police then record it as a non-crime hate incident.

It’s a pointless rigmarole that only serves to intimidate and silence women, and boost statistics for trans activism. Nobody can afford to take the police to court for human rights violation because of the eyewatering costs of losing. Which is where their doorstepping JKR could be interesting, because she can afford to pursue them - and the police will know it.

Had a breakdown means broke down, presumably.

Bloody hell. Now I feel sorry for him.

But, I'm remembering his previous comments about putting a barbed wire fence in the channel to stop migrants, and how gay people are all deviant.

And who even has the term putrid cunt in their lexicon?

But as apologies go, it's pretty abject.

Gah!

Hopefully that's the end of it. Before I expire of vacillation.

mirax · 08/03/2024 11:55

HumanBurrito · 07/03/2024 22:01

Going hard on "haha he said him" when he didn't - lots of people hear them - just decredibilises the GC argument.

I heard 2 clear "hims" as did a majority of the people on social media. The additional context of Kaolin's spiteful character and quite shameful past, make it likely that he is indeed someone careless and stupid enough to make such mistakes.

I think those are the work of the one and only IW?

mirax · 08/03/2024 12:02

As for Caolan's apology, character will out. His is deeply rotten.

MarieDeGournay · 08/03/2024 12:06

I don't know this Caolan chap at all, and he sounds like a nasty piece of work, and what he called JKR was disgusting, but he knows how to apologise properly, none of your 'I'm sorry if..'. Fair dues to him.
And then a generous, unambiguous acceptance from JKR - I don't know about you, and you may call me a soppy Pollyanna-ish eejit, but I feel a little emotional that such exchanges are still possible. Would a 💖 emoji be ridiculously OTT?
