I had never heard of this guy before today (I am not a fan of stand up comedy) but I do listen to the political podcast The Newsagents, and they had him on as a guest. He sounded like a sensible person until he suddenly started talking complete faux-naïve bollocks about the trans issue. Something about how how boring it would be if everyone in society was expected to be the same, or some such stuff, and therefore anyone who opposes trans rights is being "boring" as well as wrong. Anyone else hear that? Is this guy in general a TRA or just stupid?

I think it's worth mentioning that there is a huge difference between how transmen and transwomen interact and are perceived. Firstly transmen tend pass more successfully, at least with males. Secondly men just don't really keep an eye out for threats from the opposite sex they way women do, so even if you were clocked as a transman, no issue there.
If anything men are (rightly) wary of violent males and should be generally low-key looking out for that, but if you're quite small and not obviously giving people the death glare, you'll not flag up as threatening to any man (which is, probably, a good thing!).
You personally may or may not have some issues fitting in with gay men, I don't know. But as a rule gay men are not in any way threatened by transmen.
The experiences of females vs transwomen are markedly different, and I think that's well known and discussed.
