I also wonder if this case gives an insight into another reason 3rd spaces are rejected by trans activists. Whilst I know both individuals are male, I can quite understand why there might be tensions between those who've had the penis op and those who have no intention. Especially as the latter type are often seen actually drawing attention to their dicks on social media.

I seem to remember that they both have slurs for each other.

NecessaryScene · 22/02/2024 10:27

any decent journalist would have surely done a tiny bit of digging beyond the “officials” version of events

So surely you can show some examples of such reporting from decent journalists on this case? Right?

Or is it in fact only Reduxx who is actually doing the digging here?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/02/2024 10:27

Ummm...I don't think you understand Spain very well. Or Catholicism. Or Francoism.

LOL. What great insight is she missing about Catholicism and Francoism? I've lived in Spain in the past. What are you talking about? You're just a British ex pat, according to your other posts.

because i very much doubt that

a) this even happened

a few obscure media outlets with their own agendas have fallen for a supposed story from 4 years ago. If wager it’s all nonsense 🤷‍♀️

DadJoke · 22/02/2024 10:32

People are always credulous when it comes to implausible stories which support their prejudices.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/02/2024 10:36

It's not from 4 years ago according to a Spanish language report I'm reading now.

Tras haberse practicado las diligencias en la fase de instrucción, el magistrado, en un auto con fecha 30 de marzo de 2022

Less than 2 years ago.

the Rev one says 2020

so yet another inconsistency

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/02/2024 10:39

So?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/02/2024 10:45

The comments were made in 2020. The court case was 2022.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/02/2024 10:46

Apart from thinking it was about an actual woman being prosecuted, which they've now corrected and deleted their original tweet, what have Reduxx got wrong?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/02/2024 10:47

Why are you denying that this took place? It was reported in the Spanish press.

pickledandpuzzled · 22/02/2024 11:02

4 years ago someone made some factual biological statements about a trans identifying man.

That person was taken to court two years later and received a suspended sentence and reeducation.

Is that essentially correct?

If so, it’s shocking that statements of truth attract punishment and reeducation.

I was considering spending my holiday money going to Spain. Now I'm not, it'll get spent elsewhere.

What with this, however confused, and the Spanish dude Mr Menno drew my intention to who is now legally a woman despite changing nothing whatsoever about himself. Highlighting the very misogynistic erasure of women via self-ID. Maybe the whole male population of Spain should do the same? How on earth would babies then get made?

I don't want to accidentally say up is in fact up in Spain and get arrested for not saying up is down, after all.

I'm sure the Spanish will be devastated not to have one more English tourist this summer. English tourists are their favourite, dontcha know?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/02/2024 11:22

They probably think much the same about you, PP82, being a British expat in Spain as you are.

I'm not an expat, I'm an immigrant. We've been on the receiving end of a little xenophobia from a handful of very insular old people. However we don't live, and have never lived, anywhere near the 'expat' communities, and don't behave or live like your typical Brit in Spain. So we've been generally very warmly welcomed.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/02/2024 11:27

You are exactly the same as any British person who moves to Spain.

In what way? What does that even mean?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/02/2024 11:29

We've been on the receiving end of a little xenophobia

That would be the same as you said would be directed towards @pronounsbundlebundle then? Only you seem to approve of that.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/02/2024 11:30

You're not Spanish, you're a British expat, and Spain is not some progressive paradise.

PP82 · 22/02/2024 11:37

Spain is most certainly not some progressive paradise, but it's made great strides in recent years. I'll be Spanish in a few years time.

I self identify as an immigrant. We all know the type of people expats are. I'm most certainly not one of those (holds nose.)

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/02/2024 11:40

Yes, you'll be Spanish in the same way a male person calling themselves a woman is a woman.

PP82 · 22/02/2024 11:41

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/02/2024 11:40

Yes, you'll be Spanish in the same way a male person calling themselves a woman is a woman.

I'll be a Spanish citizen. What other way is there to be Spanish?

Do you not believe that people who emigrate to Britain and obtain citizenship are really British?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/02/2024 11:45

Not really, no. I believe they are immigrants, like all the expats in Spain, including you. If they have children here, they are British. So when you have your baby, he/she will be Spanish. I'm dual nationality myself, but I'm British.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/02/2024 11:47

I think it's interesting that you think you can become "Spanish" just by moving there and applying for citizenship. I doubt the Spanish people you know see it like that, whatever they say to you.
