Good news. Less cash for Stonewall = more available to spend on healthcare. Let’s hope.

Train companies next?? ( trickier though as no longer under government control)

Froodwithatowel · 09/02/2024 12:21

Good news. Although 'push back on LGBT inclusion' 🙄 yes dear.

'NHS Rainbow Badge Project, Phase 2 run by@LGBTfdn

@stonewalluk

@LGBTSwitchboard

@LGBTConsortium

@ GLADDUK'

https://lgbt.foundation/help/nhs-rainbow-badge/

'Since 2018 over 150 NHS Trusts across England have launched Phase 1, and 50 NHS Trusts have completed Phase 2 of the programme. We are delighted to be supporting more Trusts through Phase 2 in 2023 and are pleased to see Trusts returning for reassessment. '

'Phase 2 is funded by NHS England and delivered by a collaborative partnership consisting of LGBT Foundation, Stonewall, LGBT Consortium, Switchboard, and GLADD.
It is an assessment and accreditation model aimed at supporting your NHS Trust to create an inclusive healthcare environment.
You will be assessed on:

  • Clinical service provision
  • Workforce inclusion
  • Leadership
  • Sexual Orientation, Gender, and Trans Status monitoring
  • Facilities
  • Engagement
You will receive a graded award reflecting your current LGBTQ+ inclusion work, either Bronze, Silver, or Gold, and a comprehensive feedback report and action plan, designed to help your Trust facilitate meaningful change and achieve the next grade. '

Another grift, innit.

Hopefully the money has been diverted into patient care, reducing waiting lists, restoring crumbling buildings - anything that makes the patient experience better rather than lining the pockets of queer theory lobbyists.

EasternStandard · 09/02/2024 12:47

Good

Rainbowshit · 09/02/2024 12:54

At last!

Chersfrozenface · 09/02/2024 12:57

Don't worry, they'll all be back on the gravy train and in charge once Labour gets in at the GE.

GailBlancheViola · 09/02/2024 12:57

That article is a blast, all the whinging, all the tropes all the hand wringing.

Good news, the NHS needs to stop wasting money on these ridiculous schemes especially one which forces people to sign a pledge, it is a Health Service not a totalitarian dictatorship. If the NHS are incapable of treating all patients with care and dignity unless they have signed a pledge to do so then there is something seriously fucking wrong with the entire institution.

Probably

Boiledbeetle · 09/02/2024 12:59

Surely the TRAs would rather the NHS spent money on healthcare for them rather than shiny badges and lanyards!

Good for now, but yes, this seems inevitable unfortunately.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 09/02/2024 13:00

It's a complete waste of money and other resources and a means of hospitals currying favour with Stonewall to push a disputed political ideology. Good news.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 09/02/2024 13:02

Are you implying that now they've eaten one cake they can't have another?

Sorry, but why on earth was my comment banned?
I was reporting on the fact that NHS MANDATORY EDI training breaks the law in insisting that we need to share our previously single sex loos etc with Transwomen.

Why was that banned? It is critical information.

RethinkingLife · 09/02/2024 13:07

The new heading is: UK Government Secretly Shuts Down NHS Pride Programme I'd have gone with, "UK Govt. restores neutrality to a govt. funded body" but Hunte has to Hunte.

Somewhere on MN (oh R0wantrees, I miss you so much) is a good breakdown of the pledge and the flawed underpinnings.

Froodwithatowel · 09/02/2024 13:07

Advancing boldly to the rear, I think that's called.

Did you use a contentious term, maybe?

Oh he was the BBC’s Alphabet Plus correspondent?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 09/02/2024 13:11

Also super fast deletion @HelenDamnation1 - this thread has eyes!

Possible, but I thought we were allowed to correctly sex people these days?
Christ I'll watch it from now on and have my language policed

The quote at the end, heartwarming

Speaking to the NHS press team, a staff nurse said, “sometimes a baby will have two mums and I’ve noticed that some parents haven’t always felt comfortable being open with all staff members. Once I saw a mum looking at my badge and after that she knew it was okay to just be herself.”

but i imagine it continuing, 'she only saw my badge briefly as i was flying about because we're short staffed so i couldn't speak to her, take her to the loo or give her the water she'd asked for shortly after arriving seven hours ago.'
