'The Quebec Boxing Federation was reportedly aware of Walmsley’s biological sex, but justified the fight by stating they had chosen an appropriate referee for the match. Ultimately, Bissonnette says her decision to withdraw came down to safety.'

'Following Bissonnette’s withdrawal, Walmsley issued a statement to the press accusing her of “outing” him and warning that similar actions would have a negative impact on female athletes.'

CANADA: Female Boxer Withdraws From Competition After Being Matched Against Male Fighter - Reduxx

A female boxer withdrew from a provincial championship in Quebec after learning that her opponent was biologically male, leading to him winning the competition by default. Dr. Katia Bissonnette of Saguenay says she was matched against transgender fight...

Fantastic! Another female withdrawing for safety, I hope this snowballs. We need more and more of this (sadly) to happen to show sports organisers that is is completely UNSAFE and unfair for biological males who have gone through puberty to fight against/compete against females.

Froodwithatowel · 15/11/2023 14:32

If women don't let him beat them up there'll be consequences eh?

Well done that woman for withdrawing. Hoping this starts a domino of women no longer prepared to validate men's inner selves by providing their body and their career for him to smash.

Janetsmug · 15/11/2023 14:35

accusing her of “outing” him and warning that similar actions would have a negative impact on female athletes well that doesn't sound threatening/sinister at all!

Cosmosforbreakfast · 15/11/2023 14:36

Good for her. Men have no place in women's sports categories. If he's not good enough to compete in the men's category then he should just get a proper punchbag for his house. Rather than try to use a woman as one.

Brave to take a stand for fairness in Canada.

I can’t believe people say things like this. Yuck

Giggorata · 15/11/2023 14:48

Yeah, it’s all about him, isn't it.

This is a political activist, keen on 'revolution' and anarchy, looking to fight women without warning them beforehand that he is male.

This is dangerous.

Great stuff. If enough women do this there’ll be no women’s competitions that can meaningfully go ahead. The male governing bodies will then face the choice of doing the right thing or be redundant.

TerfTalking · 15/11/2023 14:54

Good for her, we need more and more women to refuse to compete with biological men. I’m appalled that the QBF were just dandy with this, WTF is wrong with these sports groups.

I don't know how many people on here have done martial arts in mixed groups. I have, so has black-belt DH. The list of ways men are advantaged is long and scary. Reach alone; if DH and I extend our arms, he has a good few inches of reach on me, meaning that even if I could punch as hard as him, I couldn't connect.

I've seen the female black belts in his group. They are incredibly impressive, athletic and strong. They could never beat DH. Not on his worst day. And he'd never agree to fight them. Good martial artists are ethical. He was once at a meet where they couldn't find a black belt so he was fighting red belts. There was a long discussion beforehand about moves they wouldn't do, ways to minimise danger, how he would behave. Not pretend to be a red belt and pummel the other bloke.

Nolongerlight · 15/11/2023 15:03

Accused her of outing him?

Well he said the quiet part loud. That’s a pretty direct statement that his identity matters more than her safety.

The gob smacking narcissism of it.

Heads up this thread is being reported for stating biological truth. Had my own message deleted. There’s always a handmaiden about to protect the feelings of the men over the rights of women, sad but true throughout history.

Dontmesswiththeyakult · 15/11/2023 15:04

Yes!!!!! The news today is so positive!

Sportswomen need to feel empowered to take a stand. No biological men in women's sports, with no exceptions.

It's only been up 5 minutes!

Reported on what basis?!

ArcaneWireless · 15/11/2023 15:08

went on to assert that the best policy for gender self-identification in sport was for athletes to “trust” each other, and defer to coaches and policies in assumption that matches were made fairly.

I don’t think I would trust a man to limit their physical strength in order to play ‘fairly’.

As for outing someone?

I’d posit the notion that it would be fairly evident the minute a man stood up to participate in a competition for women.

We don’t button up the back.

WickedSerious · 15/11/2023 15:12

In what way was he 'outed'?

Are they saying that no one would have noticed that he's a bloke?

I’m guessing the fact I used ’he’ pronouns probably upset someone. My message was removed within 2 mins!

I had the sense he thought the woman should submit without mentioning it, yes.

Anyone pointing at the emperor to say he is naked is 'outing' him.

'Walmsley went on to assert that the best policy for gender self-identification in sport was for athletes to “trust” each other, and defer to coaches and policies in assumption that matches were made fairly.'

Who are you going to believe, me or your lying eyes?

'But Bissonnette rejects Walmsley’s apparent call for handshake-based policies, noting that even under established guidelines it was unclear how he had been allowed to enter the match.
The rule issued from Boxing Canada to the Quebec Boxing Federation was not to reveal that the opponent was transsexual, so that the latter would not be discriminated against. However, after confirmation, this policy only applies when a sex change has taken place before puberty,” she explains, noting that because Walmsley is a foreign national, his transition history is entirely unclear.''

He was writing under the name 'Toby' a mere three years ago, at least. As an adult.

Well done that woman. Why should she risk serious injury by accepting a match-up against someone whose male biology means significantly greater punching power? Women are being served up on a plate as collateral damage for this men’s rights movement every day and it’s high time it stopped.

Hey Mya, you want to fight competitively, eh? No one’s stopping you. Stay in your lane, on a level playing field with other males, and leave women the hell alone.
