Emoji for the uterus post

WarriorN · 12/11/2023 21:54

Though works for both

RhannionKPSS · 12/11/2023 21:56

This appointment also begs the question why not a “ Trans man” in the job? At least there is a chance that they would possibly still have a womb…
It’s utterly ridiculous & they , plus “ Steph” can fuck off

WarriorN · 12/11/2023 21:52

Yes I see it is - So this Steph who wrote this to the transwidows:

web.archive.org/web/20231112211138/translucent.org.uk/letter-to-trans-widows/

I mean, seriously.

Wow. So in this letter Steph:
a) Admits to child abuse (hitting a child under the age of 7 in fact)
b) Has a pre-GCSE grasp of spelling, punctuation and grammar, and doesn't understand how a prefix or suffix changes the meaning of a word (i.e. adding "trans" as a prefix to "widow", I wonder if she feels the same about putting "name" after "dead" in "deadname" but I doubt she sees the hypocrisy).
c) Had to make it all about meeeeeeeeeeee with an example that had no bearing or relevance on anything she was ranting about.

Maaate · 12/11/2023 21:59

That didn't take long at all 🤣

This is up there with the appointment of a man in the role of the CEO of the Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre.

FFS, are these organisations stupid?

Grammarnut · 12/11/2023 22:01

Feliciacat · 12/11/2023 21:36

I think that’s what I was getting at! I have had really great male doctors so I wouldn’t necessarily require a women’s advocate to be a cis woman. I do not know all the history of Steph though; that’s true. As someone who does not frequent this part of the forum, I suppose I was just surprised that people thought only women could advocate for women when I know some excellent men who could do great in Steph’s role. It does sound like there’s more to people’s annoyance than that but that wasn’t the angle I was asking from.

The issue is not that Steph is a man, but that he is presenting as a woman. He is not best placed to empathise with women with endometriosis when he thinks 'woman' is a costume.

Codlingmoths · 12/11/2023 22:01

Feliciacat · 12/11/2023 21:15

I never post on these discussions because I’d be afraid to be on the wrong side of the debate. However, I wanted to ask something. What if Steph just really empathises with women with endo despite not having it? Then Steph would be a fine choice, right?

I don’t have children but I’m very passionate about parental rights in the workplace. I can be good on that front without having children so why can’t Steph do this? Genuine question, I’d just be interested to know people’s thoughts.

Edited

i have a more nuanced view than some, as I can understand perfectly why a man might be ceo of a women’s charity /enterprise because it happens all the time, since men are generally perceived as more authoritative and better leaders (obviously doesn’t mean they are) they could even do a good job, that’s IF those men champion and improve the effort in those causes they lead. This male person won’t let them call it a womens issue, so it’s already been hugely handicapped in clear comms under their watch. So that’s why I think they are the wrong person for the job, they can’t even acknowledge the problem and they want to be someone fixing it? Nuh uh.

FFS, are these organisations stupid?

I think they're desperately manipulative and know their core donor base are left-leaning luvvies who eat this false diversity shitvomit for breakfast.

(sorry for the potentially sweeping statement to all those like me who are disenfranchised lefties with no political home, but we all know why, and those we can't vote for and the people who can vote for them are their target for more money)

NeighbourhoodWatchPotholeDivision · 12/11/2023 22:02

If Steph had great empathy for women with endometriosis, Steph would not have accepted the post because Steph would have understood it would be insulting to women.

Steph's career history does not indicate that Steph has the professional expertise to handle a CEO role, so there's no reason to assume that Steph's personal qualities outweigh Steph's sex.

Helleofabore · 12/11/2023 22:03

Feliciacat · 12/11/2023 21:25

I know they don’t have experience. My question was what if they are actually good at advocating? I advocate for parents without having children so why can’t someone without a uterus advocate for people with endo?

How does a misogynist who protests women’s conferences and constantly scolds women make a good advocate for women? Obviously only the ‘right sort’ of compliant and agreeable women maybe?

This is a male with a history of misogyny and who has nothing to offer except blocking women who disagree that this male ‘is a woman’. This is a very very poor choice of CEO. It is not just that they are male, this is a male who is literally blocking any woman who doesn’t agree that they are a ‘woman’, how exactly would this male person centre women in this role?

This is just like appointing Midrul Wadhwa as CEO for Edinburgh Rape centre then declaring that women who disagree that males can be women need to reframe their trauma to accept male people as being women and included as women. Can I suggest you read about Wadhwa and tell us why you expect a male who is trans to centre female people’s needs?

AIBU to be asked to reframe my trauma by the trans CEO of Scottish Rape Crisis? | Mumsnet

Feliciacat · 12/11/2023 22:08

@Grammarnut @Codlingmoths thank you for explaining your views without assuming I was an anti feminist or something. Yes, that all makes sense. I don’t think I’ve done enough research into certain figures in this sphere so I don’t think I knew all the background at all. I don’t think I’d considered the point of view of caricature and erasure of woman-specific language but those are good points.

Feliciacat · 12/11/2023 22:11

@Helleofabore it was only because I thought men could potentially do this role so why not trans women. But as you say, there’s more to this specific case.

WarriorN · 12/11/2023 22:12

Stephs been winning women's awards n that.

So deffo suitable for the job. 🤨

Yep, yep n yep.

TinselAngel · 12/11/2023 22:14

Given Steph hates me, his ex wife, and women in general so much that he wrote a blog about me on his website, then copied it onto his new website, I hope no trans widows on the south coast have endometriosis.

web.archive.org/web/20231112211138/translucent.org.uk/letter-to-trans-widows/

TinselAngel · 12/11/2023 22:15

Whoops obviously hadn't RTFT!

WarriorN · 12/11/2023 22:16

It's like an extra neon flashing two fingers up to you tinsel, the ex and all women.

The validation

Flickersy · 12/11/2023 22:17

Theeyeballsinthesky · 12/11/2023 21:30

It seems Steph was “invited” to join them as CEO which suggests that it wasn’t an openly advertised role

It's a tiny charity with gross income of £8.5k in the 2022 year.

Frankly I doubt they could afford to openly advertise the role. I doubt it's paid and they are almost certainly reliant on volunteers taking on roles like this. None of the trustees are paid certainly (all the above info taken from Charities Commission site).

I don't think it's a good choice but given their size I could easily believe Steph was the only volunteer.

FaintlyMacabre · 12/11/2023 22:19

I’ve heard Steph speak on the radio and he comes across as deeply unimpressive and frankly not too bright. I can’t imagine why Steph should be appointed as CEO of anything, let alone a women’s health charity.

HobnobsChoice · 12/11/2023 22:22

Theeyeballsinthesky · 12/11/2023 21:27

I can’t see anything in Stephanie job history that qualifies them for this role. I’d be interested to know where it was advertised & what experience was required.

Steph appears to be the director of Kidex Ltd which is a Baby equipment shop in Hampshire trading under a different name. So experience of running a business but not a charity or campaign experience I'd expect from charity's CEO?

The charity is miniscule. Most people with a basic grasp of maths and english could run it.

Well, that's not disturbing at all!

FaintlyMacabre · 12/11/2023 22:31

Ooh, my contract job has just come to an end so I need something to do- I don’t have endometriosis but I do have a uterus AND a basic grasp of maths and English- maybe I should apply?
