Also on standby if needed, but there’s still plenty of other gardening to be done in other allotments in the meantime.

I hope there is some calmness to be found for Jo between now and the judgment, knowing that she’s doing what she can, she has the best legal representation going, and now there’s nothing to be done except wait. It sounds like the eye of the storm.

MavisMcMinty · 13/11/2023 15:48

Whether every woman appreciates/understands it or not, Jo, Maya, Allison, Sarah et al represent/fight for us all, and we owe you so much. Thank you.

<offers @BlackeyedSusan a nice cup of tea and a sit down>

Biscuit?

We have Hob-Nobs.

We have hobnobs? And this is the first I hear of it. Ffs shove up the sofa, let me in with my giant cuppa and a packet of hobnobs. Ta.

In the meantime, hoping the judgment is soon, but not too soon.

SidewaysOtter · 13/11/2023 21:33

Gardening tools at the ready for further horticulture if needs be.

But in the meantime we have hobnobs and <opens bottle> wine. Top up, anyone?

I was thinking along similar lines, Jo and the others have bravely taken on organised gangs of bullying fanatics and won. They have fought for the cause of reason and fairness and the legal judgements resulting have made it much more difficult, hopefully insurmountable, for organisations to bully and hector women with perfectly normal, reasonable opinions.

My daughter and her age group will be some of the lucky ones to benefit from what are now enshrined protections in law. (Even though she is TWAW).

Tinysoxxx · 13/11/2023 22:26

@SinnerBoy give your Dd and her friends a few more months and they’ll understand. The more dodgy men harp on about the ideology on social media, the more you can’t ignore it anymore. Young people are very fed up with it too.

SinnerBoy · 13/11/2023 22:35

Tiny, she's ten and has a friend who is "a biological boy, but a REAL girl." I've tried to explain gently, but I don't want to get into a discussion about rapists and perverts at her age.

Not yet.

@SinnerBoy Oh I thought at least 14-15- poor things.

As soon as everyone gets to secondary, it will be a big culture shock. They’ll all have phones and unfortunately there is a lot of content their peers will be seeing that will influence their behaviour.

This leads to all sorts of problems, which I sure you are aware about, but unfortunately it means you haven’t got too much longer before you are going to have to introduce topics. For example, in one school I was working with, there was one boy who liked posing in dresses and make-up in Year 9 discussing Drag Race and lots of school girls followed him on social media (from Year 9 downwards) but I noticed so did a lot of much older men. These two groups would not normally be mixing in real life and these girls were so naive with their messaging it was upsetting.

It does get better as they grow up. All I can say is keep an eye on all their social media -be close and supportive. Some parents had no clue.

SinnerBoy · 14/11/2023 01:53

Thanks, I will talk more in depth, if she wants to, as she gets older and learns more.

Brilliant, well done Jo (and legal team). Thank you for being willing to put your head above the parapet on behalf of many other women who can't speak out. I hope you feel some relief, and that it was worth it.

Vegemiteandhoneyontoast · 22/01/2024 17:27

Fantastic news, Jo - enjoy that fizz and cheers to you! 🍾

So pleased. Thank you for putting yourself through it , Jo. I will never forget that you endured being traumatised all over again in Watford .

PencilsInSpace · 22/01/2024 17:34

Fantastic news!

popebishop · 22/01/2024 17:37

Grinning my head off here!

allaboutthatsass · 22/01/2024 17:37

I don't make my GC views public as without being outing, it would make the job I do very difficult and difficult to get another. I'm surrounded by woke. So instead I contribute to crowd justice campaigns like this and do my bit quietly. Really pleased Jo has won.

Sisterpita · 22/01/2024 17:39

Jo & your amazing legal team well done. I appreciate how tough it has been for you but your case with others will make such a different to so many women.

This is incredibly important for feminists in academia
