''When it came to washing my body or clearing up after me, I was entirely dependent on nurses. They saw, wiped and dried every last inch of me.
A few days before my discharge, two nurses came to my bed, pulled the curtains closed for privacy and asked if I would mind telling them what it was like to be transgender.

We started chatting and at one point I said: “If you took every woman in this ward, stuck us all into stirrups and asked a gynae to take a good look, they wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between me and everyone.”

The nurses burst out laughing. “Oh, we know!” one of them exclaimed. “We’ve all been talking about it in the staff room. It looks just like the real thing!”'

...

'all humans begin their lives as female.'

I’m trans and fractured my spine – why don’t I belong on a women’s ward?

I look like a woman, sound like a woman and live as a woman, writes Diana Thomas. But the Conservatives believe, when in hospital, I don’t deserve the same kindness and compassion as other patients

All I can say to that, is bollocks.

I can't speak for all women but the idea that a load of nurses would be standing around on their breaks discussing my labia is very weird and disconcerting

It's pretty obvious that the nurses never said this though. It's completely fictional

Because there isn't a nurse on the planet that would mistake a surgically created 'vagina' for one that a woman is born with.

Melroses · 08/10/2023 17:22

Were they laughing hysterically whilst looking for the nearest exit?

borntobequiet · 08/10/2023 17:26

Don’t believe a word of it. Unless said in a placating way to someone clearly delusional.

'There’s something weird, not to say toe-curlingly ‘eeeewww’, about a man of 60 who looks down and sees the breasts of an adolescent girl sprouting on his chest.
That’s one reason I’ve not written much about my boobs until now. Another would be that, from a female reader’s point of view, being told about what it feels like to grow breasts by a male-to-female transsexual might easily seem like the ultimate, distilled, platonic essence of mansplaining. You really don’t need me to tell you.
And yet the fact remains that my breasts are incredibly important to me.'

Yeah,he won't get from male to female if he spends a million.

Someone's been watching sexy nurse videos on Pornhub.

MorvernBlack · 08/10/2023 17:27

Hmm..unlikely to have happened, but people have been so brainwashed, so who knows t.
This person's previous publications are also a worry.

But do us a favour, stop with the 6ft crap, there's nothing unfeminine about being 6ft or taller. Some of us can do without that kind of shade being cast our way.

Americano75 · 08/10/2023 17:30

Naaw, his gender euphoria must have been off the scale!

Cannotthinkofanametoday · 08/10/2023 17:30

As a retired gynae nurse I can assure you all that I never once discussed anyone’s genitalia in a staff room.

  1. There was no staff room
  2. We were too bl*y busy to stop and chat
  3. When you run an abnormal smear clinic you really have seen it all.
  4. I have seen breastless women, women with reconsructive breasts, women with radical labial surgery for cancer, women with out wombs, ovaries, fallopian tubes etc. BUT I have never seen a woman with a penis.

Yep, but I know 6ft women and they don't look anything like 6ft men.

Pardon my ignorance but isnt a transwomans ‘vulva’ in a slightly different place to a womans vulva?

Yes, they are different.

I'm sure there was a thread on here once where someone was looking at an art project of plaster cast vulvas and they thought that some were FGM, only they turned out to be post-op TW. If you find that project, the differences between natal and neo-vaginas are clear.

FormerlyPathologicallyHappy · 08/10/2023 17:40

What breaks? Are other HCP getting breaks?

Bastards.

RichardArmitagesWife · 08/10/2023 17:43

I knew it would be this grifter - his Telegraph columns were awful.

Not gonna lie but I’m afraid to google

but even without googling i know ‘even the gynecologist couldn’t tell’ is an outright lie

The nurses burst out laughing. “Oh, we know!” one of them exclaimed. “We’ve all been talking about it in the staff room. It looks just like the real thing!”'

I think it's plausible - I imagine them saying it very sarcastically while smiling indulgently and nodding. I think the key line is "The nurses burst out laughing."

AsTreesWalking · 08/10/2023 17:45

To be fair to Ms Thomas, I think it's obvious that the paper forgot to end the paragraph after 'laughing.', and then pasted in part of a different article altogether. By mistake.

What did we order?

What is this supposed to mean? Just say what you mean.

I take it to mean that biological women fought hard for their rights to safe spaces in shelters, rape crisis centers, sports, gym lockers and hospitals. We won them so now some duds are coming along and taking them back.

That author can blame all the duds who take no hormones, have no surgery and do nothing but "say" they are a woman and everyone is supposed to buy that claptrap. Especially since most do it to gain access to women, make them uncomfortable and use our hard fought for rights against us. The trans community could have and should have stood against the fakers, but they didn't. So now we have to protect ourselves from the fakers by protecting ourselves from all men who try and use our rights for their pleasure.

Trans is trans. I am fine giving them their own rights. I am not fine giving mine to them.

Oioicaptain · 08/10/2023 17:47

'You really don’t need me to tell you.

Well that never stopped a bloke did it?'

This made me chuckle. Oh so true!

For some reason, I've got a really itchy chin today.

Oioicaptain · 08/10/2023 17:53

For what it's worth I believe him. I believe that, due to a back injury he couldn't move to wash himself. And I do believe that some of the nurses may well have agreed with him that his downstairs work looked realistic. Whether they believed this or not is another matter, but they were hardly going to risk offending a trans patient in this day and age, particularly one that writes a column and holds a position of power.

More unbelievable (or not as sadly the case should be) is that he was placed on a woman's ward and believes that his right to feel validated automatically trumps the right of vulnerable women to feel comfortable. Had he been able to stand up and walk around the ward, I'm sure that there would have been a lot of complaints.

YouJustDoYou · 08/10/2023 17:54

Oh, the fanfiction is strong with this one.

BillyOwen · 08/10/2023 17:54

To be fair I think the erectile tissue from the scrotum can be fashioned into a fairly realistic simulacrum of a labia. They come in all shapes and sizes after all.

However any gynaecologist that fails to notice that the burrowed-out ‘vault’ beyond these ‘labial’ folds, comes to an abrupt dead-end, is a gynaecologist that I want nowhere near my reproductive system.

frecklejuice · 08/10/2023 17:55

Were the nurses talking while they all sat around on their hour long lunch break with their feet up because we all know nurses have a shit load of time on their hands 🙄 And how lucky they were to get two nurses give them 100% attention! Ffs what a load of shit.
