''When it came to washing my body or clearing up after me, I was entirely dependent on nurses. They saw, wiped and dried every last inch of me.
A few days before my discharge, two nurses came to my bed, pulled the curtains closed for privacy and asked if I would mind telling them what it was like to be transgender.

We started chatting and at one point I said: “If you took every woman in this ward, stuck us all into stirrups and asked a gynae to take a good look, they wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between me and everyone.”

The nurses burst out laughing. “Oh, we know!” one of them exclaimed. “We’ve all been talking about it in the staff room. It looks just like the real thing!”'

...

'all humans begin their lives as female.'

I’m trans and fractured my spine – why don’t I belong on a women’s ward?

I look like a woman, sound like a woman and live as a woman, writes Diana Thomas. But the Conservatives believe, when in hospital, I don’t deserve the same kindness and compassion as other patients

@MrTiddlesTheCat I did find that bit particularly implausible.

RealityFan · 08/10/2023 16:51

God, I'm so naive. Didn't even occur to me a fantasist would, er, fantasise.

And get it published.

😂😂😂😂😂😂

I wonder if TRA’s actually believe this?

Yeah of course this happened 😂

How does an adult male human grow or get labia and a clitoris? If the penis is inverted to make a cavity, I get that but where and how do you get lips and a magic bean from??? Your arm???

You can’t

neilyoungismyhero · 08/10/2023 16:55

@willingtolearn I have to say when I fractured my back I couldn't move anything so I was intimately washed etc. However I don't believe the rest of the article ever happened.

quantumbutterfly · 08/10/2023 16:56

Is it possible that their spine is a bit more crumbly because a male body needs testosterone. I believe bone density problems are an issue in males with low testosterone (eg klinefelters).

The nurses burst out laughing. “Oh, we know!” one of them exclaimed. “We’ve all been talking about it in the staff room. It looks just like the real thing!

And then they asked if they could have a sleepover. So we had pillow fights and brushed each other’s hair. We had a midnight feast too. It was annoying when the real women were calling for help because IT’S MY TURN!

The bit about putting a room full of women in stirrups sounds like he’s given real consideration to
it. I can’t say I would ever be imagining women being violated in that way.

This journalist may pass in photos as a woman when wearing a polo neck and photoshopped heavily, but no one is going to make me believe that in hospital, without makeup that anyone thought this 6ft tall person was anything other than a Trans Woman

What's that expression I'm searching for... Oh yes - "Cool story bro' " Hmm

I was thinking more along the lines of "bollocks".

Helleofabore · 08/10/2023 17:01

Isn’t Thomas the bouncing boobily individual?

A person who is beyond just ‘gender euphoria’.

RoyalCorgi · 08/10/2023 17:02

Dear Lord.

AgnesX · 08/10/2023 17:03

I would like to hope that any gynaecologist worth his/her salt could tell the difference.

namitynamechange · 08/10/2023 17:04

I think as a story it needs more dragons.

But that plus the weird boast about having teenage girl breasts is just so creepy it hurts.

It's like, no matter what filter he uses, the end result is the same filter, the "queasy" one.

DialSquare · 08/10/2023 17:06

I just can't take anyone who uses fuzzy felts for eyebrows, seriously.

RufustheFactualReindeer · 08/10/2023 17:06

Pardon my ignorance but isnt a transwomans ‘vulva’ in a slightly different place to a womans vulva?

SkinnyMalinkyLankyLegs · 08/10/2023 17:08

If a gynaecologist couldn't tell the difference then I'd be thinking that they'd got their medical degree on the Internet for 500 rupees.

WoollyBat · 08/10/2023 17:09

What are the chances they all burst out laughing at the claim a gynae wouldn’t be able to tell the difference and then very quickly agreed with the TW before they got fired.

Also on what planet do nurses declare to a patient that they all sit around discussing that patient’s genitals in the staffroom? Could that not be a smidgen unprofessional/ sackable?

Fleabane · 08/10/2023 17:11

It's like the transwoman Shea Coffey who was interviewed on the bbc about the rise in transgender hate crime.

On the left is the picture Coffey sent to the bbc. On the right is a still of a video of Coffey.

Was this a dream he had? Women do not speak like that 🤣

And everybody started clapping!

And then I woke up.

ArabellaScott · 08/10/2023 17:17

The thing is that this article is risible, and obviously, at best, heavily embroidered.

But this narrative is what is being pushed, and accepted, by some.

I have to question if this person was so clearly female in every way, how did the nurses know they were transgender in the first place, given it is not allowed to be referred to or written down anywhere?

Don’t know where you’ve got this information from but it’s incorrect. A person’s medical history is in their medical record so available to the medical professionals treated them.

viques · 08/10/2023 17:18

I read this story and was reminded of those illusion cakes they show in the adverts on GBBO. They look like something else, but in reality they are still cake. Because just as you can’t take butter, sugar, eggs and flour and actually turn them into a bowl of butternut squash soup, you can’t take …………..well, you are all capable of finishing the rest of the sentence for yourselves..

As for taking HRT, doesn’t the R mean replacement, so if you never had the oestrogen in the first place you aren’t replacing it, you are ingesting a substance that is foreign to your body. The self deception in this article is massive, and slightly sad in its desperation to be what they can never be ,and to believe that other people don’t see the mismatch.
