Rishi Sunak - "a man is a man, a woman is a woman"

..and how we shouldn't be bullied into believing somebody can be any sex that they want.

https://vm.tiktok.com/ZGJcxUehh/

AIBU to want to give him a round of applause?

I know, it's convenient timing and obviously a strategy move but how good is it to hear that straight from the horses mouth when the country has spent the past god knows how long bowing down to the loud and often disturbed minority.

I still can't stand the Tories and won't be voting for them but cheers for acknowledging the insanity, Rishi.

it is frustrating … our views have long been swept aside…. If we object to competing against Biological men in sports or sharing private spaces with them we are accused of being transphobic….. the language used to shut us up is awful. Even worse to see women use it against other women!

The infamous meme ‘Karen’ is a prime example, any opinion you have now that someone wants to put you down for or belittle you for is ‘OK Karen’ or stop being a Karen… They might as well just say shut up woman your view doesn’t count…… yet the amount of women embracing this sexist meme and using it to put down other women astounds me

Ellos · 05/10/2023 10:28

@LilyMumsnet please move my thread back to AIBU where it was intended to stay. This is a current issue relevant to all women, not just feminists.

Absolutely this.
hoping the other parties follow soon.

Oh I expect that will be his tactic. He doesn't have a lot to campaign with. I suspect that outside Mumsnet it won't be particularly high on the issues on which the electorate make their choices.

So you think women, who post outside of MN, won't be glad that the leader of the country has said what was needed? I doubt that.

Disagreeing in believing the Tories are the answer is not telling anyone to shut up.

As far as i can see on many of the trans threads, not this one so far, wanting to get rid of the Govt that has caused so much harm to womens rights, just gets you a load of abuse.

I read recently they have just decided to cut 20% from the SENDS budget, so kids with developmental issues will now wait even longer for extra child teacher hours.

Who is that going to affect more? Men or Women? and of course the child in question.

Sunak can say whatever he likes, actions speak louder than words.

Iamnotastick · 05/10/2023 10:45

You are nothing but a fool if you swallow this absolute bullshit.

The tories have been in power for 13 years. All of the changes that GC people oppose happened under their government.

They spill out lie after lie after lie and say whatever they think people want to hear. They will say whatever they want to keep themselves in power.

The only fools are the women who don't agree with him. Basic biology being ignored just because of he, who espouses it.

Bullshit?

It's not bullshit.

I'm not a Tory voter but what part of Sunak saying 'a man is a man, a woman is a woman' do you think is a lie exactly?

You don't have to be a Tory voter to agree with the truth and regret the fact that the truth appears to be beyond the Labour Party.

Amazing isn't it how many posters are using the usual, you must be thick/stupid/gullible trick? It's not going to wash.

cheezncrackers · 05/10/2023 10:53

Bananasandcorn · 05/10/2023 09:10

This is the problem, Starmer says what you want him to say (after you said no one,in labour, will say it) but instead of welcoming, we get "only did it because of focus groups & many other Lab MPs have said x or y" Bailey and Nandy aren't even in the shadow cabinet now.

Why do you think Johnson or Sunak have said these things? yep Focus groups!

Lets face it, you and almost any other Sunak tory supporter are never going to praise Labour, let alone vote for them, you ve one aim, probably don't even care about women rights or spaces and thats to ensure Labour lose votes.

If you did care, you'd look at the track record of 13 years of Tory Govt.

Er okay Ms Labour over there in the corner. I have NO influence on how anyone else votes, so I'm not sure what you're on about, particularly when Labour doesn't need my help to lose votes!

So because the Tory's have done some things that people object to, (and as a mother of children with SEND, I totally agree with you on that point btw) I'm supposed to believe human's can change sex and supposed to turn a blind eye to the fact that the Labour Party doesn't have the courage to stand up to a bunch of aggressive lobbyists?

I expect MORE of all politicians.

I've said this before on the thread. It is quite possible to despise the Tories and to be dumbfounded by the approach that the Labour Party has on this issue.

It is not the fault of Sunak that the Labour Party are making him look sensible on this issue. The Labour Party need to do better.

Biology is transphobic
Reality is transphobic
Mother nature is transphobic
Truth is transphobic
Data is transphobic

Because I believe transwomen are male im transphobic, at least I'm in good company

To add to this list:

Women's rights are transphobic.
Single sex spaces are transphobic.
Child safeguarding is transphobic.
Same sex attraction is transphobic.
Medical ethics are transphobic.
Farming is transphobic.

It's almost as though transphobia is an increasingly meaningless term.

You are a fool if you think he even believes it. He will say whatever he thinks will get him votes. You are an even bigger fool if you think they will actually CHANGE anything.

If the public decided the sky was green, he would come out to say 'The sky is green and the grass is blue. Labour want you to think the sky is orange - WE are the party that represent what the people want.'

They go for whatever gets them the most clicks.

They want you to be bothered about the possibility of a trans women in your ward, but the fact is you probably wouldnt even end up there yourself. Is there an ambulance? Sorry, no ambulances. Oh you got yourself to hospital? Sorry, the junior doctors are on strike.'

I'm afraid the post you're replying to is representative of the childish thinking, with absolutely no objectivity whatsoever. That's it, it's Tories who said it, so it's BS! Cringeworthy.

Who are you to call voters fools? It's not your vote.

lifeturnsonadime · 05/10/2023 10:58

And @Bananasandcorn on the issue of SEND, yes the LP might fund special education better but they are also more likely to continue with gender nonsense which leads disabled girls like my daughter (who is autistic) to believe she is a boy and potentially cause harm to her body as an adult.

I have more faith that a U Turn will happen under the conservatives than I do under Labour after the way they've treated Duffield. Is that enough for the Tories to win my vote, probably not.

But by god what a disappointment the Labour Party is on this issue.

I do think it is foolish for any women not to expect MORE from the Labour Party.

You appear to lack critical thought, that's on you.

For the umpteenth time I'm NOT a Tory voter but I am terribly disappointed by the LABOUR party stance on this. THEY NEED TO DO BETTER FOR WOMEN.

It's the same thing. You clearly don't agree that a man is a man and a woman is a woman. Luckily, many millions agree with Sunak and they ain't all posting on Mnet.

lifeturnsonadime · 05/10/2023 11:02

It is possible to be both:

Bothered by NHS cuts

AND

Bothered that a woman was raped by a transwoman on an NHS ward.

Bloody hell I'm dumfounded that Labour Voters are supposed to just 'suck up' gender ideology and the consequent harms to women as though it is fine as collateral damage.

No I won't I expect MORE FROM THE LABOUR PARTY.

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 05/10/2023 11:05

I'm not going to applaud him for merely stating the obvious. His very basic understanding of biology doesn't make up for the fact that he is a shit PM from a shit party, presiding over a shit government.

The fact that many other politicians don't appear to understand basic biology - or at least don't admit to understanding it publicly - does not make an incompetent man worthy of praise or support.

I haven't said what I agree with or believe and you have no basis for your assumption.

I've simply said that I don't think the electorate in general will make the issue a priority in making their decision when they vote.
