Rishi Sunak - "a man is a man, a woman is a woman"

..and how we shouldn't be bullied into believing somebody can be any sex that they want.

https://vm.tiktok.com/ZGJcxUehh/

AIBU to want to give him a round of applause?

I know, it's convenient timing and obviously a strategy move but how good is it to hear that straight from the horses mouth when the country has spent the past god knows how long bowing down to the loud and often disturbed minority.

I still can't stand the Tories and won't be voting for them but cheers for acknowledging the insanity, Rishi.

we we are just glad that he has because it echos the thoughts of the silent majority who don't feel able to say it

Who’s “we”? It’s not a silent majority, it’s a vanishingly small minority. Most people don’t care.

The convenience of a "silent majority" is that you get to claim you have a mandate from the people despite evidence to the contrary.

LilyMumsnet · 05/10/2023 09:49

Hi all

We're moving this over to the correct topic now. Flowers

T1Dmama · 05/10/2023 09:51

Which is?

LilyMumsnet · 05/10/2023 09:49

Hi all

We're moving this over to the correct topic now. Flowers

This should not be in feminism, it is an issue for all women whether they identify as feminists or not.

It has been discussed by the Prime Minister in the Tory Party Conference.

Please don't be told to move it so it can't be 'seen' by all.

EasternStandard · 05/10/2023 09:54

🙄 at moving it

The vote was majority yanbu at around 70%

Look at that can’t even discuss a statement by PM on AIBU

Edited

Forgive me if I'm missing something, but why would moving it into the Feminism topics mean it can't be seen? They're not restricted sections.

EasternStandard · 05/10/2023 09:56

I have no doubt TRAs were reporting it

What a shame mnhq gave in

AIBU gets far more views, hence people "posting in AIBU for traffic".

I assume that now there will be no further posts allowed about dogs, cars, childcare , or food in Chat or AIBU, as these all have their own dedicated sections?

A lot of women don't see themselves as feminists so don't use this section.

It is clear that some people don't want this is the high traffic section of AIBU.

I thought the days of women's speech being censored or attempted to be hidden on Mumsnet were over, but clearly not.

This is an AIBU issue not a feminist issue. It affects ALL women (adult human females) whether they consider themselves feminists or not.

Bananasandcorn · 05/10/2023 09:57

Very bad decision, whatever your views on Trans etc, should stay in AIBU.

I ve just emailed MN to ask them to move it back.

That doesn't mean it can't be seen though does it.

And it's not censorship for crying out loud.

BlurredEdges · 05/10/2023 09:59

I've just checked the first 20 posts in AIBU. they are all in the incorrect section. They should be in

  • work
  • relationships
  • primary education
  • travel
  • style and beauty
  • the doghouse

I assume you are in the process of moving them all now, @LilyMumsnet ?

EasternStandard · 05/10/2023 09:59

AIBU gets a vote

It’s good to see how people feel. Majority yanbu

Probably another reason TRAs not keen

Can stand up and make a statement to the country but not talk about it anywhere on a main board such as AIBU

Unbelievable

Actually I wish they would do this TBH. Fed up of ridiculous topics like "AIBU to dislike broccoli".

Every single question in AIBU could be categorised as something else. So you disagree with the existence of the entire forum.

Bananasandcorn · 05/10/2023 10:01

MN have probably moved it because a lot of the Trans threads are originally posted there and not AIBU.

It doesn't mean anyone reported it, we don't have that as evidence.

@LilyMumsnet another request to move it back to AIBU

And it's not censorship for crying out loud.

of course it is.

It's saying that certain things can't be said in high traffic areas of the site.

A certain group of people want women to remain ignorant to the demands of TRAs and the impact of trans women in single sex spaces on women. Hiding it is a way to 'limit damage' that threads like this cause.

Bananasandcorn · 05/10/2023 10:02

A direct email is better than tagging @LilyMumsnet but here goes Can you move back to AIBU please?

T1Dmama · 05/10/2023 10:04

It’s such a huge issue.

I’ve always supported people’s rights, but the country has become so scared to offend the minority these days that the majorities voice is taken away.

People seem to be allowed to identify as anything they want these days, and instead of addressing the deeper issues it’s given a title.

My daughter is at school with a child who sits in class licking her hands paws, walks around on all fours, and the teachers aren’t allowed to say anything. The mother is a serial complainer and would complain if a teacher was to ask her daughter to stop meowing or doing her daft behaviours…. Loads of the kids in my daughters year are claiming to be trans, or gay… I’m sure a very small percentage of them are genuine, the others are just attention seeking/following the craze or just need a mental health assessment… I mean a cat!!…. That’s a child in desperate need of intervention!

Yes I was wondering why this has been moved from AIBU, it was doing well there and this is from a current news item @LilyMumsnet so please move it back rather than leaving it on the naughty step!

IsabelleSE19 · 05/10/2023 10:08

Really shocked that MN have moved this - it's the key speech of the current ruling party's conference, not exactly niche!

And as others have said, AIBU is chock full of things that could be categorised elsewhere.

Please MN, move it back or at least explain why?

T1Dmama · 05/10/2023 10:08

Of course people care… or at least women care anyway… men might not as it doesn’t affect them!
I don’t want to be in a female changing room getting changed, and a he/they/them/it walk it…..
Mothers don’t want to be changing their little girls in a room with a man in that identifies as a woman!

Cosmosforbreakfast · 05/10/2023 10:12

Of course it's all election talk but they can't backtrack now. Women are women. It's another small step in the right direction. The tide is turning slowly but surely.
