Come on, are you really that naive? Why do you think Vernie sent that nauseatingly ‘nice’ post in Insta when she could have posted the email instead?

'Why base your opinion on what someone has actually said, when you could judge them based on second hand accounts and hearsay'

Louise’s manager says this:

The fact remains that the duo said they would only do the Eternal reunion if no Pride or LGBTQ+ festivals were included.

Which I’m inclined to believe. I don’t know why Louise is being vilified on here, it’s the Bennett sisters who’re being bigoted. I wonder if Saint Vernie will publish the email? I won’t be holding my breath.

What part of "she is being vilified for making statements about two women without their consent, disregarding their right to privacy and putting their personal safety in jeopardy by sharing her interpretation of their views with a group of unhinged, violent misogynists" do you not understand?

Slothtoes · 27/09/2023 12:08

Of course Pride isn’t for kids. It’s not meant to be. Any corporate pinkwashing that suggests it’s a nice family day out is completely missing the whole point of it. If men want to simulate sex at Pride have at it. No problem with that. Don’t go if it s not for you.

I do feel offended at the expected and of herb enforced denial of same sex attraction AT PRIDE )and everywhere else) though in order to suit a genderist agenda. That is actually obscene given the history of the struggle for gay rights

'Why base your opinion on what someone has actually said, when you could judge them based on second hand accounts and hearsay'

I'm anticipating some form of 'dogwhistle' accusation.

It's the only way these strawman arguments work.

By carefully ignoring this:

'The girls sent an email to Louise’s camp saying they loved playing Pride, and they loved the ethos of the event. For her camp to go on the record suggesting they are homophobic is utterly outrageous. This is nothing about gay rights. The girls have played numerous LGBTQI venues their entire careers and have been inspired by the love and acceptance they have received'

And insinuating/outright asserting that their refusal to play Pride is due to some vague 'bigotry'.

was trying to write ‘expected and often enforced’

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 27/09/2023 12:10

It's more a general question paranoid. That's my concern and I want to know why that makes me a bigot.

Despite the relentless rainbow-washing at school, I have actually had to explain to teenagers what Pride was originally about and why it was necessary. All they have been 'educated' about is a debauched party stuffed with drag queens that relentlessly bangs on about TQ 'identitities'.

There's been nothing about the history of political struggles for same sex attracted people at all. It must be absolutely galling for the people who originally started the movement.

Well, it is perfectly clear that there are posters on this thread who believe that declining to perform at an event based on your support of the people of the lesbian, gay and bisexual sexual orientations who feel that their movement for achieving their own political aims have been overwhelmed by trans activists is bigotry. paranoidnamechanger is just one of them.

Let's face it. The complete lack of symmetry around their decision is also very clear. Fancy calling two women bigots for stating their views that sex should be prioritised over gender in law and policies! And for supporting views that have now been reviewed by the charity commission as valid and lawful so that they can hold charitable status in organisations such as the LGB Alliance!

Do those labelling these women bigots know the meaning of the word?

paranoidnamechanger · 27/09/2023 12:13

* The girls have played numerous LGBTQI venues their entire careers and have been inspired by the love and acceptance they have received'*

They didn’t play any or many as I recall.

paranoidnamechanger · 27/09/2023 12:15

I’m saying that I don’t believe them.

Slothtoes · 27/09/2023 12:16

Back to the Bennett sisters, one half of Eternal having an absolutely reasonable political conscience and making a stand on it which is also entirely reasonable - Louise (and Kellie who seems mysteriously not being quoted to the press?) is coming off like a total shitehawk

Insinuating homophobia is not a good look especially at people who are genuinely trying to comment reasonably and respectfully on the appropriation of the gay and lesbian community by a group of people whose politics IS homophobic.

Genderism denies same sex attraction. I’m really happy the Bennett sisters are standing up for women’s and kids’ rights and hope they will keep carrying on Flowers

Slothtoes · 27/09/2023 12:22

I agree with you Arabella this misrepresentation of the years of lesbian and gay struggle against arbitrary social and economic hardship, punitive legal systems, homophobic physical attacks, corrective rape, forced marriage and all of the smaller scale everyday discrimination inflicted too.. it is absolutely offensive

And again, do you know what 'bigotry' means?

You don't believe them based on.... what exactly? If you have prior opinions expressed by these two woman, please do link us up.

They have restated the same statement now over a period of days via different sources. In fact, even the manager organising the event stated what they said.

Whether you choose to believe that or not, that says more about you than it does about them if you have no evidence of what you believe there intentions are here.

OK.

Even if you don't believe them, do you think it is fair to release a statement about them without their consent, bringing them to the attention of people who may be a risk to their personal safety?

Helleofabore · 27/09/2023 12:27

Just asking you to back up your claims paranoid. Why would you expect that we should just accept that they are 'bigots'? That is very strong language and if you have nothing of evidence to base it on except your own suspicions, then make that clear.

It's actively undoing many recent gains in acceptance of homosexual and bisexual people in society.

Right. So this is your supposition and guesswork based on second hand statements made by other people.

Seems a bit extreme to call someone a 'bigot' based on conjecture.

@paranoidnamechanger Do you think it would be OK to punch someone if you think they are a bigot? Or threaten to rape them?

ArabeIIaScott · 27/09/2023 12:01

You think it's bigoted to have concerns about women and children's rights?

They usually do, when it comes down to it.

This. She has absolutely thrown 2 women under the bus and potentially put their lives at risk. She has shown herself to be very nasty.

I reget voting for her to win Strictly now..

Nellodee · 27/09/2023 18:21

Comparing TRAs being violent to religious people being terrorists is actually a reasonably valid comparison. Those who are violent are definitely in the minority, but you’d be a complete arsehole if you told the press “Hey, my ex friends just sent me a cartoon of the prophet wearing a bomb as a turban.” You wouldn’t need to think that ALL Muslims were terrorists to think that this might make like very unpleasant for your ex friends.

That’s comparable to what Louise did.
