'Louise Redknapp pulls out of Eternal reunion after her bandmates REFUSE to play LGBTQ+ festivals and Pride over claims they are being 'hijacked' by the trans community'

Many are. Like the one who punched an elderly woman in NZ. Or threw soup at a woman. Or screamed in a baby's face. A fucking baby! The intimidation from some trans activists is out there for all to see.

Show me any trans event where GC people have turned up in masks, followed them down the street harassing them, exhibited violence, held placards saying 'punch trans people in the face'. Go ahead.

ScholesPanda · 27/09/2023 01:37

Oh I absolutely agree. But it works both ways.

And religious extremists are dangerous to everyone. You’d never tar everyone following a particular religion with the same brush in the way that you’re desperate to do with the trans community.

You seem not to have understood. Not a single poster on this thread (or anywhere on this part of Mumsnet) has said that all trans people are a threat. Trans activists, most of whom are not actually trans, are a different story.

You clearly don’t think that there are activists out there who will harass and punish the sisters now that their views have been revealed.

If you believed it was the case, would you think it was wrong?

And what would you need to be shown to be persuaded that it is true?

What works both ways?

Absolutely nobody is going to send Louise rape or death threats for making this statement.

Mrskettleson · 27/09/2023 09:10

I’m thinking womanstanley understands perfectly well and has happily skipped onto this thread for a lovely little wind up.
No one who reads this board can be ignorant of the aggression directed at those who dare disagree with trans ideology.
It’s also been explained very clearly.
It amazes and baffles me how anyone can learn about the violence and abuse meted out by some trans activists and not be utterly horrified and disgusted.
And Louise is most definitely in the wrong. No one has the right to disclose another’s personal and private views or opinions without consent. It’s pretty basic stuff!

"I am 'Eternally' grateful for the family, friends, and amazing fans who have and continue to support our incredible journey and artistry.I've been blessed to connect with so many diverse and wonderful people from all walks of life during my career. You all have a piece of my heart. Though it is impossible and counterproductive to respond to the overwhelming number of statements and allegations made online recently, I place this moment in God's hands. I truly appreciate all who continue to express love and support for my family and Eternal."

Vernie

https://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/eternals-vernie-bennett-breaks-silence-31035754

'Eternal’s original manager Denis Ingoldsby issued a passionate defence of sisters Easther and Vernie, who he now manages. He said they have been left 'devastated' and accused Louise’s team of misrepresenting details of a private email.'
...
“Louise and her team have thrown them under the bus and everyone is totally appalled at their bullying behaviour by totally misrepresenting the situation to suit their own agenda,” he said. “The girls sent an email to Louise’s camp saying they loved playing Pride, and they loved the ethos of the event. For her camp to go on the record suggesting they are homophobic is utterly outrageous. This is nothing about gay rights. The girls have played numerous LGBTQI venues their entire careers and have been inspired by the love and acceptance they have received.
“This is about the debate about the trans lobby and the erosion of the rights of women and children. Vernie said she had some concerns about the Pride movement being hijacked - and she is not alone - but this has now been weaponized against her, with Louise’s team trying to get her cancelled. The fact that the public statements by Louise’s team conveniently failed to acknowledge these concerns...once again shows how women are being excluded from the conversation.”

Eternal's Vernie Bennett breaks silence after Louise Redknapp trans row

Louise Redknapp has pulled out of a huge tour after her Eternal bandmates Easther and Vernie Bennett reportedly refused to play at LGBT festivals, including Pride - however, Vernie has now spoken out against the damaging claims

I like Vernie's statement.

MargotBamborough · 27/09/2023 09:54

That's a powerful rebuttal by Denis Ingoldsby.

I'm glad someone spelled out the details even if Vernie herself clearly preferred to take the high road.

Yeah, this. I can't say I predicted that the potential reunion of a minor 90s girl band would be the catalyst for this debate moving further into public debate, but here we are.

'the debate about the trans lobby and the erosion of the rights of women and children'

Nice and clear.

Very clear.

ArcaneWireless · 27/09/2023 11:00

Well that made it crystal clear.

How odd that Louise left the pertinent details of the concerns out of her statement.

Nothing self serving and inflammatory about the Bennett/Ingoldsby statements. Louise’s statement however…?

Louise should be thoroughly ashamed of herself.

paranoidnamechanger · 27/09/2023 11:41

Louise’s manager says this:

The fact remains that the duo said they would only do the Eternal reunion if no Pride or LGBTQ+ festivals were included.

Which I’m inclined to believe. I don’t know why Louise is being vilified on here, it’s the Bennett sisters who’re being bigoted. I wonder if Saint Vernie will publish the email? I won’t be holding my breath.

ArabeIIaScott · 27/09/2023 11:43

it’s the Bennett sisters who’re being bigoted

You're basing this assertion on what?

On what I referred to above.

ArcaneWireless · 27/09/2023 11:49

The fact remains that the duo said they would only do the Eternal reunion if no Pride or LGBTQ+ festivals were included.

That may well be the case. The actual reason has been conveniently left out though.

Funny that.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 27/09/2023 11:50

Why are you a bigot if you have concerns about Pride being hijacked by a movement which is actively harming women and kids?

I'd love an actual, specific answer to this.

Maddy70 · 27/09/2023 11:56

Everyone had their own views. No-one is wrong here.

Come on, are you really that naive? Why do you think Vernie sent that nauseatingly ‘nice’ post in Insta when she could have posted the email instead?

allaroundthelamplight · 24/09/2023 19:47

I think the Bennett sisters are throwing the baby out with the bath water, here.

Pride is still the biggest collective celebration/movement for LGB people and in refusing to attend they are cutting out all of those people. Not to mention actively refusing to perform for anyone who is trans (surely the definition of being transphobic).

I hate the TRA movement, but I take my teen (lesbian) daughter to Pride because she doesn't have that kind of representation anywhere else.

She lives in a family full of straight people, experiencing homophobic comments at school and at one or two Pride festivals a year she gets to be amongst people like her.

Please don't @ me to explain the problems with transactivism - I understand and share them. But I often wondered if any of the people who post in this section of the site have ever attended a Pride event, there is a lot of good in the movement, it really isn't as polarised as people on here like to make out.

I have been to a Pride parade (London) - once - and made a note to NEVER take a child to any of them in the future. The one I attended had men simulating sex on top of a bus. And this wasn't an isolated case. I had expected to see thi gs that would have highlighted LGBTQ+ rights and struggles, which many people are on board with, but that kind of thing, no wonder support is waning.

ArcaneWireless · 27/09/2023 12:00

Everyone is entitled to their views.

But if you are going to put someone else’s words out there for all to see, you should do them the courtesy of quoting what they actually said - not just a frothy sound bite.

MargotBamborough · 27/09/2023 12:00

Maddy70 · 27/09/2023 11:56

Everyone had their own views. No-one is wrong here.

If people had stuck to sharing their own views rather than dropping two people who had chosen to remain silent in it with a group of rabid misogynists then there would be no issue.
