Comedians who are actually funny and not captured

Inspired by another thread as I don't want to derail the important discussion about Glinner's new book.

Which comedians don't include "jokes" about hating TERFs in their routines and aren't captured by trans ideology?

Not necessary, but bonus points if they don't rant about politics/Brexit like a Year 12 who just learned we have a government (I'm not a Brexiteer, I'm just sick of hearing Brexit rants when I signed up to watch comedy, it's not funny).

So far I've got:
Dave Chappelle
Glinner
Richard Ayoade
Mary Bourke (thanks Pink News for the article trashing her entire character because she had the audacity to say she was a woman not a cervix, great recommendation, she's really funny)

If you're a comedian feel free to name yourself here too, we all need more laughs.

I saw Ben Elton I think in 2017/8 and he did a whole piece about the ridiculousness of cancelling Germaine Greer (to an audience that just didn’t get his point). Not sure where he stands now though.

ZootLady · 14/09/2023 12:28

Zarna Garg

Absolutely hilarious. Love her. No idea where she stands on GI but this might give some idea...

Lucy Porter? I dunno where she stands; I saw her years ago and thought she was funny. Not sure if she still does stand-up.

ReadtheReviews · 14/09/2023 12:31

Can't imagine Daniel Tosh has anti term material but he doesnt have pro women either and if you can't separate offensive from funny then he's not the one to go to.

ReadtheReviews · 14/09/2023 12:32

Terf not Term..

hittingtheshelves · 14/09/2023 12:35

Oh wow. Some of the 'comedians' mentioned here is giving me a better understanding of you all.
What a shame.

whirlyhead · 14/09/2023 12:38

James acaster maybe.

I’d suggest Geoff Norcott. He might not be everyone’s cup of tea as he’s quite blokey but I’ve really enjoyed listening to his podcast What most people think.

He’s unusual for a UK comedian in that he’s open about having voted Conservative (his book about why he decided to do so is worth a read too - Where did I go right) and was also pro-Brexit. He does talk about politics but seems more rounded in that he’ll take the mickey out of any of them.

He's not especially Terfy but he’s not not either.

Thanks I need a new podcast to listen too, I'm going to give it a go as when I've seen him on TV he's come across as quite funny, and I don't care who he votes for which some (largely left wing) comedians don't seem to understand.

Magicpaintbrush · 14/09/2023 12:40

Sarah Millican. She's a hoot!
Bill Bailey - finally, a comedian who doesn't rely on swearing and shock tactics but is actually genuinely clever and funny. His 'Larks in Transit' show is great (and on iplayer).

BloodyHellKen · 14/09/2023 12:41

whirlyhead · 14/09/2023 12:38

James acaster maybe.

No, definitely not. He is not funny, is totally captured and has one of the most annoying faces and voices ever.

God only knows why the lovely Ed Gamble hangs around with him. Maybe James is nicer in person than he appears on TV.

MattDamon · 14/09/2023 12:41

I'm friends with a top comedy producer and she says there are loads but no one wants the hassle of dealing with the insane TRA abuse so they just keep quiet about it.

No, there's a video online of him ranting about Ricky Gervais's comedy, calling Gervais a "brave little cis boy" or similar.

Tinysoxxx · 14/09/2023 12:42

I think Ben Elton knew exactly what he was doing with the end of the Friday Night Live. He allowed the ideology and its misogyny to be seen and heard very clearly.

which ones specifically?

FKATondelayo · 14/09/2023 12:48

Tiffany Haddish. She has a running theme in one of her Netflix shows about Caitlin Jenner being a woman on the census so therefore she's going to put that she's white on the census. I also understood she was one of the celebrity audience members cheering when Dave Chapelle did his team terf routine.

CurlewKate · 14/09/2023 12:48

Comedians who aren't "captured" but who also aren't obnoxious racists might be good.....

waterlego · 14/09/2023 12:48

This doesn’t seem very logical.

hittingtheshelves · 14/09/2023 12:48

@oldwhyno - Andrew Lawrence specifically (total racist).
I also have a problem with Ricky Gervais. I just think he's unbelievably second rate and don't understand why he is where he is at all.

DerekFaker · 14/09/2023 12:50

Simon Brodkin was apparently nice to Konstantine Kisin when he got 'cancelled', and he's very funny.

Dave Chapelle and Ricky Gervais for example? I don’t see any evidence that either of them are racist.

Do you know where I could find this?

FKATondelayo · 14/09/2023 12:51

Loving all the posters on here ignoring the black women mentioned in order to tell us off for (non-existent) 'racism'.

We see you.

CosyCoffee · 14/09/2023 12:53

I agree about Sarah Millican, I have a feeling she is a terf sympathiser. I also imagine her husband Gary Delaney is too - he's very funny.

I have no idea who this woman is but I saw her on Twitter earlier
