Comedians who are actually funny and not captured

Inspired by another thread as I don't want to derail the important discussion about Glinner's new book.

Which comedians don't include "jokes" about hating TERFs in their routines and aren't captured by trans ideology?

Not necessary, but bonus points if they don't rant about politics/Brexit like a Year 12 who just learned we have a government (I'm not a Brexiteer, I'm just sick of hearing Brexit rants when I signed up to watch comedy, it's not funny).

So far I've got:
Dave Chappelle
Richard Ayoade
Mary Bourke (thanks Pink News for the article trashing her entire character because she had the audacity to say she was a woman not a cervix, great recommendation, she's really funny)

If you're a comedian feel free to name yourself here too, we all need more laughs.

Ricky Gervais.

RavingStone · 14/09/2023 10:35

Ricky Gervais is a fucking genius.

As is John Finnemore, in a completely different way,

I adore David Sedaris.

Henning Wehn seems to understand the importance of free speech according to MN yesterday!

I'm currently listening to old Mitchell and Webb on BBC sounds.

I’d suggest Geoff Norcott. He might not be everyone’s cup of tea as he’s quite blokey but I’ve really enjoyed listening to his podcast What most people think.

He’s unusual for a UK comedian in that he’s open about having voted Conservative (his book about why he decided to do so is worth a read too - Where did I go right) and was also pro-Brexit. He does talk about politics but seems more rounded in that he’ll take the mickey out of any of them.

He's not especially Terfy but he’s not not either.

RavingStone · 14/09/2023 10:36

I feel sad that I've not posted any women. I know a couple of people who work in that industry. It's not especially woman friendly, especially when starting out. Especially if you're a woman with any kind of caring responsibilities.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 14/09/2023 10:38

Does Mr Menno count?

Rudderneck · 14/09/2023 10:42

I've never heard Bill Burr being anti-terf, I may be wrong though. He occasionally annoys me when he assumes white women are all rich, but in general he takes the piss out of everyone.

Ricky Gervais
Micky Flanagan

@Allthegoodnamesarechosen OMG I've just Googled Mr Menno and this amazing video came up:
Which I suppose also gives me a crash course on Ricky Gervais (also brilliant, great recommendation @StephanieSuperpowers and @RavingStone ), who I only knew for The Office previously.

Trans Jokes: Ricky Gervais VS Nish Kumar

@GrandmaMazur I'm definitely open to conservative comedians, when they're a bit left or right I don't mind, it's when they go too far in either direction and turn their show into a woe-is-me rant with no punchline it winds me up.

Bill Bailey

Sunnava · 14/09/2023 11:17

I suspect Chris Fleming, personally, but I understand that he has to toe the line.

Right wing comedian. I loved the joke about interracial TV couples, but it may not be to everyone's taste.

You're right - not for everyone - not for me.

WarriorN · 14/09/2023 11:22

I have no idea who this woman is but I saw her on Twitter earlier

Jackydaytona · 14/09/2023 11:23

You're right - not for everyone - not for me.

But it is factually correct even if you don't find it funny: the benefits of diversity have been wildly exaggerated for some reason.

Illegallyblonder · 14/09/2023 11:56

Haven't RTFT but I'd add Ricky Gervais

inkjet · 14/09/2023 11:57

Simon Evans.
Andrew Doyle

LaaDeeDa321 · 14/09/2023 12:00

Adam Rowe did a really funny joke about supporting trans people but how self id is ridiculous. I don’t know how to do links but maybe someone could find it? It summed how I feel about this conversation
