Anyone else on here planning to attend this?

Who are the 'women' you keep referring to ?

Who is Daniel? I think we should be told!

If it turns out to be a certain Owen McLove soundalike , millions of Irish women of a certain age are going to be a bit disappointed. More more jumper cakes for Daniel.

DerekFaker · 18/09/2023 12:10

And the stench of desperation emanating from this thread grows stronger...

One of them was Sara Pascoe and another was Aisling Bea, I can't remember the third.

Sara Pascoe was one of the first female comedians calling out male comedians predatory behaviour.

Sara Pascoe says comedians tried ‘setting up union’ to stop ‘sexual predators’

Stand-up comedian spoke to The Independent before Russell Brand was accused of sexually assaulting four women, which he denies

Oh.... look at that.... PBPs on this thread.... backing up accusations about Glinner making threats, apparently against women.

At this point, I need to point out that the supposed 'threat' was made in response to a twitter profile called Daniel who is apparently a 'he / him' and was general in nature about protestors. It should be noted that 'Daniel' has also deleted their tweet from what I can see (please do post the thread so we can ALL see it if it is still available).

So, rather than taking Pink News' word for it, perhaps posters should seek out the full context before posting anything more.

Helleofabore · 18/09/2023 12:20

Daniel = @d_lawrence89

Unfortunately, there really are some such women. Their number seems larger than it is because they are noisy, somewhat articulate and utterly convinced of their righteousness.

Their particular flavour here in Ireland is interesting. These self-identifying feminists seem incapable of conceptualising that fellow Irish women might have come to a contrary position on gender ideology and trans activism by their own lights, rather than under the malevolent influence of ould-one Brit fash* or, alternatively, a man. Amazing.

*Many of these monstered British women provided financial and logistical support for decades to Irish women forced to travel to Britain for abortions. All forgotten now; they're TERF fash and, even worse than being Brits, they're middle aged.

I must admit I find the West-Brit insult really perplexing.

When I think of the social changes during my life the people who were besmirched with West Brit were (a) Those who wanted to bring in divorce (b) those who campaigned against the 8th (c) Those who wanted gay equality/marriage- the abuse David Norris took back in the day! In every single case the West Brit position was eventually shown to be the one that people wanted, and that was seen as compassionate.

We’re still conflating Moral superiority with nationalism, ‘twas ever thus. And we always get it arseways first.

Interesting echoes of Scotland, there. Or the other way around.

Abhannmor · 18/09/2023 13:00

They have no idea what tf they re talking about anyway.

A good starting point would be the book West Briton by Brian Inglis. Older MN's will recall him as the avuncular narrator of All Our Yesterday's. Very English public school but actually from Malahide County Dublin. The term West Brit gets flung around far too much.

And then the faux nationalist bit. As an unrepentant Fenian and socialist they make me 🤮. I doubt Panti Bliss & co give a monkeys about sectarianism for example. Or the working class for that matter.

I wouldn't class you as a detractor Boiled, oops I mean Mypeniscalledstella!

You don't know all 60 of my usernames though! 😁

I don't know, maybe explain why you are fraternizing with fascists?

I don't think you know what fascist means. It involves a dictatorship controlling both capital and labour stringently, and shutting down the opposition, sometimes violently. Don't think LWS fits that discription.

And what does that have to do with the tweet being discussed?

Grammarnut · 18/09/2023 13:04

Fascism is dictatorship of both capital and labour along with the shutting down of dissenting voices. That does not fit LWS.

TheGreatATuin · 18/09/2023 13:24

As far as I can tell, no one has yet quoted this amazing line from the Barbie film.
Because I think this has to be the go to response every time someone plops on here to squawk 'fascist' at us instead of actually having any kind of coherent point or argument.

I will admit to wanting to control the railways. Tickets are far too expensive and its a disgrace that our railways are in the hands of private companies that put profit before people.
But this is from my greenie socialist stance that public transport needs to be better used and more accessible, so I can see how it might be confusing.

AflagAhoy · 18/09/2023 13:41

@LizaBizza Do you like PIE?

turbonerd · 18/09/2023 14:52

So, mr Brand thought LOJ was like Orwell?

I suppose Orwell didn’t like women much either, then? Nor does mr Brand, it seems. Not in the sense of women being fellow human beings at least.

Well, nothing’s new.

Have very much enjoyed the accounts from those who were there on Saturday. Well done to all of you.

Datun · 18/09/2023 14:58

Its not at all surprising that misogynists instinctively liken each other.

DialSquare · 18/09/2023 15:17

Well that's not fair. You know one of my two other usernames!

There was recent discussion of Mrs Orwell on here.

'[H]is sense of entitlement ... was especially apparent in his attitude to women, on whom he was inclined, almost indiscriminately, to ‘pounce’, forcing sex on them, then angrily reproaching them for not wishing to be raped.'

As long as you continue to pay the weekly payment we're good!

Here's an article on what I posted a couple days ago

MavisMcMinty · 19/09/2023 19:20

Finished your homework, @LizaBizza ? Back for more LOLs with the old women on MN? How peculiar today’s teenagers are.

LizaBizza · 19/09/2023 19:23

I'm just here to leave a friendly reminder that gay and trans people exist, and their lives matter :)

IcakethereforeIam · 19/09/2023 19:25

So, to state the bloody obvious.
