He's a male supporter of homophobia and transphobia. Fixed that for you.

If he really is such a great "woman's rights supporter" then I'm sure he has a wife who is supportive of him.

I've got a question for you

imagine if he said tomorrow that he'd said whatever it is that you think he said but only because he was confused as he's been battling with inner demons but was now comfortable enough to tell the world he's was a woman called Barbara what would you say then?

I was at Let Women Speak Dublin. Flew over from UK as we heard Irish women were really scared. They thanked us for coming. Met some on the way to the square bring escorted and they walked with us. In the crowd many had come with their husband because they were so frightened.

Best policing I've ever seen and I've been to Brighton, Manchester, Nottingham, Cardiff, Glasgow, Birmingham, Portsmouth and London. Proper crowd barriers on the transactivists side along with a dead zone.

The crowds were evenly matched. I suspect many women didn't come through fear and the fear if being recognised.

Graham arrived the crowd cheered.
Kellie arrived the crowd cheered louder!

We could hear! Free speech does include the right to be heard. The trans supporters were loud and had a loud speakers and a megaphone. Mostly it was a bloke screaming chants:
Posie parker is a fascist
Nazi scum off our streets
Trans rights now
You've got fascists on your side
Trans rights are men's rights (we are pretty sure this was the chant).
But mostly we could hear quite well.

The women who spoke were amazing. Helen Joyce kicked off briefly. A lesbian who was shaking and in tears, The countess who spoke about mother's and babies, a woman talking about her sexual abuse from age 7 (whilst the morons danced to music unaware if that was being said). Irish women are amazing they are warriors. The teenage girl who wrote and spoke her poem I am not a dress at Belfast spoke and did a funny song. Wow to have that much courage at 15. She was upset that some of her teachers were on the trans side.

I didn't realise that Self ID clipped in without any debate. Consultation and debate is urgently required.

There were more men than usual. They were asked to stand at the back. I had no idea who they were. I guess a lot were male relatives. They were quiet and they listened. The most intrusive men were from the Press.

The trans soviet flags disturbed me. The Bear Pride flag was creepy. This mammies for trans kids are bewildering.

My only gripe was that both groups were penned in. The beauty of the didn't us catching passer boys giving them a leaflet and having conversations but that opportunity was lost due to.the police keeping us safe.

A transactivist walked freely around our side with a patronising sign. Noone was bothered. Noone confronted him, abused him or assaulted him. We read his sign and got back to listening. Imagine if one if us had done that we would have been chewed up and spat out.

I saw him, young guy in a purple rain jacket. His sign was wordy and confusing. I picked up on the "hate" bit of his sign and told him - "no-one here hates you" - he looked a bit disappointed and wandered off again.

That's very heteronormative for a queer activist.

Best cancel yourself.

Cant quite work out why if the event was 2 hours the video was only an hour and a half. Was there a breakdown in the live stream?

Meanwhile over in the USA, I think on the same day, women attending a WDI meeting got to hear a bit of chanting too! https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=847403303327515

It did start a little late by about 20 mins I think, but still finished at 2pm. I suspect that was the difference. Kelly likes to finish on time for the police as it helps with planning for future events. One day we will be able to meet with no protestors and stay as long as we like!

He's already played that game.

Not quite sure what his point was meant to be but the outcome was he got banned and the app's creators spoke up in support of trans rights.

Oh hallo, here you all are.

Is this another thread with plopping authoritarians advocating for the censoring of rape survivors and vilifying the over 50s?

Don't tell me, I bet it's all in the name of tolerance and inclusion too!

Vertically, virtually or furtively. We're not fussy here at the worshipful company of, er, cheese parers.

DublinLWS · 18/09/2023 02:29

I went to Dublin, I'm Irish and was really scared about attending

My son travelled with me but he would get hassle in work if he was seen at the event, so we were loitering in the park trying to decide if it was safe for me to alone, when we heard a group of English terfs, spoke for all of 5 seconds and they said come on then lets go

So I ditched the Son and off I went, what a day :)

It was amazing to be surrounded by so many supportive, intelligent women,

I was starstruck seeing all the heros from my phone in the flesh, I saw Glinner and Helen Joyce hugging each other to say hello, Paddy O Gorman in his hat, Mr Menno SMILED at me! Aja was right beside me praising the Gardai, Laoise and then Kellie Jay arrived, I was a proper country bumpkin so thought I better put my phone away and just enjoy being there :)

The speakers were brilliant, sadly none a surprise to me about how woman are treated in Ireland, The woman talking about the constitution was very interesting, Laoise with These Words Belong to Us and I thought the woman who used to work with pride was very brave and the woman at the end talking about being questioned by the Gardai, with a Garda behind her looking very uncomfortable was very satisfying 😎

It felt very safe at the event but I left straight away as I was still worried about getting my train, I met people I knew at the station and on the train but none of us said why we were in Dublin (thats unusual, we normally share every random detail!)

I would be known for supporting and campaigning for gay marriage, abortion, travellers rights and no I dont think Ireland is full, is it likely people who know me would assume I also support trans people over Womens rights? God only knows but its not a question that is easy to ask in Ireland right now

The media coverage was woeful, at best they said both sides, worst was anti trans v trans joy, again not suprising

I think the Gardai will have seen where the trouble is though and its not from women wanting to speak, as I was leaving I heard a conversation with a woman and a Garda

" well now thank you very much Garda, you kept us safe, I think you had the easy job today!" "your very welcome, grand day altogether except for the soft rain, you take care now" 😀

Great day and hopefully it happens again soon

and if my English terfy friends are on here, thank you for making me brave enough to actually go in x

You know what it's like, you wait for ages and then Lenin, Stalin and Mao all turn up at once.

😅

Helleofabore · 18/09/2023 03:31

At this point I want to point out that I think the bearded man gif is spot on.

I am loving all the accounts of the women who attended. Thank you! I think it is very pertinent when people point out that protestors are perfectly safe from those supporting the speakers if they come through the barriers. It happens more often than not. And yet look at what happened to the gay man who wore apparel that caused him to be assaulted, abused and harassed when he walked on the edge of the crowd that time in Manchester at a Pride event?

Such a significant difference

What an abhorrent thing that woman said. I am glad that someone took the microphone off her.

Shall we post up all the abhorrent things that extreme trans activists have said and done so readers can judge for themselves that you had to search hard to find anyone who said such a thing (and even then someone took the microphone from her and stopped her)? Should we start with a male individual called Sarah Jane Baker who called for women to be punched in the face and then convinced a judge it was a joke so they could get on the front page of a newspaper? No one took the microphone off that male individual.

Catsanfan · 18/09/2023 07:05

Indeed @Helleofabore . @LizaBizza I'm sorry but what are you doing here? I really think you are a confused teenager

Unless this happened at a Let Women Speak event it has got absolutely nothing to do with Posie Parker or Let Women Speak.

Trans activists are up in arms when we mention Karen White and Barbie Kardashian and say that the actions of a few bad apples shouldn't be used to justify discrimination against all trans people, and yet it's fine to say these things about gender critical feminists on the basis of what a completely random person who is not connected to us in any way is reported to have said?

One rule for them, I see.

MargotBamborough · 18/09/2023 07:35

I mean, seriously, imagine blaming women in Ireland and the UK for something a man in Australia allegedly said and still believing you are a feminist.
