This thread is an attempt at a broad overview of where we are now, especially for those new to to the issues involved.

Main issues:

  • Impacts of sex and gender in legislation on women's rights
  • Safeguarding
  • Children, young people, and 'gender incongruence'
  • Freedom of speech, thought, and belief

Input and questions welcome! Please keep it factual and concise.

Terrific thread.

Transgender Trend have already been mentioned. This is an eye opening article from their site about picture books on trans themes aimed at under 5s, being pushed by Stonewall and others for use in schools and nurseries. Trans picture books for little children - Transgender Trend

There are now over 60 trans picture books, recommended by activist organisations for Early Years and Primary school children.

I'd also like to put in a word for 4thWaveNow, a US website set up by concerned mothers a long time ago. I read a lot of their posts a few years ago when I was first interested in all of this. Well worth a look. https://4thwavenow.com/

And finally, for now, an article many of us have linked to many times. Still very worth a read. https://www.feministcurrent.com/2018/03/23/leftist-women-uk-refuse-accept-labours-attempts-silence-critiques-gender-identity/

The most enraging bit is in the second half, about local women in Deptford being harangued by students from Goldsmiths and really important activism to help women escape violence, solve housing problems and so on was impeded.

Leftist women in the UK refuse to accept Labour's attempts to silence critiques of gender identity

Working class women and Labour Party members are incensed at being harassed and silenced in their attempts to discuss gender identity. But they are fighting back.

Deb Filman who is in the US but goes through how EDI is being implemented in education across the States and Canada with absolutely fantastic insights by teachers some of whom have to stay anonymous for obvious reasons.

The Famous Artist Birdy Rose
who was cancelled from her social group for saying basic stuff. She does videos on current topics and has some excellent guests and looks at it from her personal lens and is a proud raging shitgoblin. Takes insults and makes them hers in her own unique style.

Thanks to @terryleather and @ArabeIIaScott and @AlisonDonut for their responses.

The neutral approach to pronouns is especially helpful in the context of work as it can only been understood as coming from a supportive (not misinterpreted as an antagonistic) stance.

Has anyone mentioned the late, great Magdalen Berns? Trenchant critic of gender ideology, mostly on YouTube. Co-founder of For Women Scotland. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magdalen_Berns

This is her YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCvTTakI97sQ4SkMnsH8r0qQ

Magdalen died from a brain tumour in 2019 at the tragically early age of 36. Her videos were very well put together and incredibly refreshing, because she doesn't have much truck with euphemisms. Grin This quote could be FWR's motto: I'd rather be rude than a fucking liar.

My favourite quote of hers is "Fuck off you wanker" Grin

I can't tell you how many times I've had to bite my tongue recently when seeing the mansplaining going on round here Grin

I didn't know about her until after she'd gone but God, I would have loved to have met her. She was cool as fuck.

All of (wonderful) Magdalen's videos are very good: this about the man 'widening the bandwidth' of being a woman, is my personal favourite:

^That's a corker.

ArabeIIaScott · 20/08/2023 20:07

It'd be good to share some resources from 'the other side', criticising gender critical views, or supporting genderist ideas.

Can I ask what happened to the thread from yesterday about the CEO of Stonewall? I was intrigued by the potential consequences of all not being well on planet trans. I came back to it today to catch up and alas it's gone?
I thought myself well versed on all this crap but I've been doing some catching up with MN. I am a longstanding MN user but hadn't joined the tribe as I just hadn't seen it come up on active threads that much. Of course I've heard on Twitter that MN is regarded as kingdom Karen but I hadn't actually found where you were all lurking. I'm in now so hello to you all.

ArabeIIaScott · 20/08/2023 20:27

The OP asked for it to be taken down, I believe.

And, hello! 😊

kingdom Karen

New one to me; thought it was Prosecco stormfront or nest of vipers 😆

WorriedMutha · 20/08/2023 21:13

If they could tag another K on to kingdom Karen they will just shorten it to KKK. It's a shame about the Stonewall thread. It looked promising but the poster did seem to be revealing a confidence so perhaps she had second thoughts.
