The difference between the sexes is clear. Eddie, a male in late middle age, dons a pink mini skirt that is little more than a belt, cakes on the make-up and says “I’m a gender-fluid trans woman.” Eddie tries to enter the world of politics. Cue lots of media fawning about how wonderful Eddie is.
Show me a woman (the original dinosaur type) of a similar age group, in politics and dressing like Eddie while on the campaign trail. Who’d be fawning over her? She’d be a laughing stock.
All the gleeful she/her pronouns littered throughout that article about Eddie are not just jarring, they’re infuriating. Stop telling lies and gaslighting us, Guardian writers, you should know better. Eddie is a man with a colossal stash of male privilege and he knows it. He doesn’t even mind being referred to as he/him. Boy mode, girl mode, both can be entered into and manipulated at will to suit Eddie’s needs. A privilege that women can only dream of.
