Confirmed this morning.

www.theargus.co.uk/news/23699795.eddie-izzard-run-labour-mp-candidate-brighton/

This is my local constituency so I have Tweeted Eddie asking if women in Brighton & Hove can rely on Eddie's support in our bid to secure the option of single sex rape crisis therapy.

Let's see what the response is.

Our MP is conservative and takes about 6 months to send a copy and paste reply to an email, he is pretty useless as well.....not that I'd swap him for Eddie or Suzy or whatever his name is on any given day

Sturgeon was my MSP. Never responded to a single email.

That Guardian report is very hard to read. It hardly makes any sense at all.
“Identifies as a gender fluid transwoman”? Give over.
”200 years of Izzards” sounds like it’s out of something written by Stella Gibbons.

It's a splendid article in all the wrong ways, isn't it? Absolutely doolally.

People will be arguing about clown fish, lipstick, and penises rather than the actual issues we need to be focusing on such as the cost of living...

Thanks a lot Eddie.

He has rather elevated those discussions

He’s also she in news reports which is interesting

AutumnCrow · 04/08/2023 19:57

This may actually open the eyes of a few Guardian readers where previously they had been in denial about the damage that queer theory was doing to the credibility of the left. Every little helps.

Catsanfan · 05/08/2023 10:02

It grated so much how a person called Eddie is repeatedly referred to as 'her' in the article. At least run as Suzy of you want to be referred to as 'her'. Interesting how Eddie has the balls (arf) to run as Eddie but not as Suzy

CorruptedCauldron · 05/08/2023 10:29

The difference between the sexes is clear. Eddie, a male in late middle age, dons a pink mini skirt that is little more than a belt, cakes on the make-up and says “I’m a gender-fluid trans woman.” Eddie tries to enter the world of politics. Cue lots of media fawning about how wonderful Eddie is.

Show me a woman (the original dinosaur type) of a similar age group, in politics and dressing like Eddie while on the campaign trail. Who’d be fawning over her? She’d be a laughing stock.

All the gleeful she/her pronouns littered throughout that article about Eddie are not just jarring, they’re infuriating. Stop telling lies and gaslighting us, Guardian writers, you should know better. Eddie is a man with a colossal stash of male privilege and he knows it. He doesn’t even mind being referred to as he/him. Boy mode, girl mode, both can be entered into and manipulated at will to suit Eddie’s needs. A privilege that women can only dream of.

KateJohns · 05/08/2023 10:30

People should only be able to stand as an MP for places where they were born or have lived for 15 years minimum.

But thats beside the point.

Catsanfan · 05/08/2023 10:55

@CorruptedCauldron 100%. Imagine Teresa May or Margaret Thatcher dressing like Izzard! Would they have been framed all over?!

Catsanfan · 05/08/2023 10:57

*fawned all over - bloody autocorrect!

KnickerlessParsons · 05/08/2023 11:13

Is he running as the male man Eddie Izard, or the female woman Suzy?

Catsanfan · 05/08/2023 11:17

Male Eddie Izzard, but probably in hot pink mini skirt with loads of makeup on

Well, Theresa May couldn’t even wear a discreet pair of leopard print kitten heels without causing a tabloid froth, while Thatcher’s handbags were also heavily scrutinised despite being nothing outlandish. Meanwhile Eddie can wear the most inappropriate outfits he likes and knows he’ll be applauded for it.

Actually, when you put it like that ...

Maybe we should be throwing our weight behind Eddie.

😀

Yes, in many ways it would simply peak more people and make them aware of what lies behind many/most male transitions. And maybe more images, appearing, of him in a queue of young women in the ladies's toilets might give a real visual representation of what this looks like in action.

The capacity of this to cause embarrassment to labour seems almost infinite. I am all for it.

CloudyMcCloud · 05/08/2023 11:19

Eddie but also she

Assume Eddie has to use Eddie's legal name when running as MP? So Eddie doesn't have a GRC.

Walkingtheplank · 05/08/2023 14:22

I think on the ballot paper it would be something like "Edward Izzard, also known as Suzie Izzard."

AtrociousCircumstance · 05/08/2023 14:23

As we know, Eddie Izzard is a man who doesn’t give a shit about women and girls. Just wants to railroad our rights in order to plunder sexual stereotypes for kicks, and invade women’s spaces in order to revel in some kind of personal validation. This is a man who does not care about communal care - merely the fetishisation of individual identities at the expense of those who already suffer under a patriarchal system.

He is not fit to govern.

But… but…. but… then young aspiring political hopefuls with a first class degree from Oxbridge and well connected parents would have to work at proper jobs for AGES, I mean like YEARS, before getting advisor/ research jobs with MPs for three years and walking into safe seats. That is SO not fair. Some of them have got LOADS of really useful skills to offer, experience isn’t EVERYTHING you know, you can pick up AMAZING understanding of like how things work when you are on a gap year and then like transfer those into really useful sound bites to support your constituents when they come to you with their issues. And anyway, if you had to live somewhere for like 15 years you would probably be well over thirty before you took your seat, far too old, you just wouldn’t have the energy to be an MP.

Quite alot of the tossers who govern are not fit to govern.

Eddie is unique in that Eddie has made this abundantly clear in advance in so many many ways.

It's all about Eddie. It's always all about Eddie.

No-one else matters.

AtrociousCircumstance · 05/08/2023 14:34

@GolgafrinchamB Fucking hell. The arrogance is astonishing. And comparing being a straight white man who wants to invade women’s spaces with being African American Angry
