Re biscuits or cakes, I posted this on another thread (why am I always on the cake threads?)
The legislation re VAT zero rated (cake) vs VAT chargeable (biscuits).
"VAT zero rate
Marshmallow teacakes — with a crumb biscuit or cake base topped with a dome of marshmallow coated in either chocolate, sugar strands or coconut
Scottish snowballs — a dome of marshmallow coated with chocolate or coconut, aerated and boiled (not baked), they have a short shelf life and harden rapidly when removed from the packet.
VAT chargeablr
Other types of snowballs such as Swedish snowballs with a longer shelf life"
We then got into a debate on prejudice and xenophobia regarding snowballs.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to order ,many some dark chocolate Tunnocks products, which I didn't know existed. It's for... er, my birthday, yes, that's it, my birthday.
