Transmen who want us all to accept that they are actual men. But they are a subset of men who can give birth to babies..
Which only women can do, in fact.

And still claim that they are men. After giving birth to babies. From their wombs.

And the presenter on R4 is actually going with it. And sympathising with the person that obviously men can give birth. Or is he just presenting it so that the audience can draw their own conclusions?

Whatever it is, it is winding me up no end. I have listened to R4 for the past 50 years - 50 YEARS!! every night without fail, while I potter about in the kitchen, tidying up and popping a bit of baking in the oven. I love radio 4, it has seen me through many traumas. Divorce, death of parents, death of sibling, permanently life altering illness of my child. Radio 4 has always been there as a stalwart support. A reality check. Reassurance that the rest of the world continues as normal - ordinary, normal even if it's bad news or a war between foreign nations. Right up to 1am and "Sailing By"

I love Sailing By. I find it, at the same time, both soothing and sad (because it's a reminder of times past)

But the shite that I've just listened to has totally wrecked it for me.
What a load of utter bollocks they have just allowed on air.

Unless they're just airing it to show how ludicrous and self absorbed some people can be. . . . .

Really hope that's what it turns out to be.

Aww. Of course.

It's funny that the trans lobby has gained so much power when this is the best discourse they can wheel out.

Lol! You go girl.

Well this has all gotten a bit playground. Putting the slanging matches to one side.

I'm sorry, I'm going to be an adult now, the child in me responded to the childish behaviour on display. Anyway.

this is grey shale sedimentary rock apparently. nice isn't it?

Radio 4. Right now. Is freaking me out.
Bingbangbongbash · 09/07/2023 22:59

Is shale a subsection of sedimentary?

ILikeDungs · 09/07/2023 23:11

Excellent rock, Bernard. And can I also ask OP GrabbyGabby's question,

How is it going for you so far? Have you talked to anyone in real life?

My autistic son would genuinely be very pleased to find that rock. He would insist I carry it home.

It looks very large to be carried home but perhaps the perspective is confusing.

Not All Rocks Are Like That.

I can’t tell from that picture… he has tried to take some pretty large boulders home. I live in a house filled with Special Rocks.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 10/07/2023 00:48

It's a great piece of stone, Bernard, I definitely recommend starting a collection of them.

for everyone to be happy to have sex with everyone

Completely indiscriminately? So we all have to be polyamorous pansexuals? And be happy about it? Hmm

Certainly pansexuals.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 10/07/2023 01:00

There is a certain "progressive" view that only bisexuality is morally acceptable.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 10/07/2023 01:01

I don't recognise "pansexuality" as a meaningful category.

OnePotPolly · 10/07/2023 16:27

I have talked to people in real life. Mainly people my own age (old) who dismiss it as a load of bollocks. Some younger people, as I have daughters late twenties,
who seem to be swallowing it whole.

I've also read threads on here where I've learned a thing or two. It was my late night radio listening habit that chilled me somewhat as I hadn't realised it had crept in so far at the Beeb. I don't know how I can have missed it so far.
But it appears I have.

Will they care though? Publicly-funded broadcasters can afford to care a lot less about ratings than commercial broadcasters.

It's a good thing that publicly funded broadcasters do not have to care about ratings. That means they can air things which are not mass audience. You can't have it both ways. But R4 has got rather woke. I was really angry at their pro-EU stance when the country had voted to retake its sovereignty.

ImGonnaHaveToTurnMyBackOnYou · 10/07/2023 20:51

It is true, they're informed, they know about any potential risks, they weigh up this versus the absolute distress caused by continuing to experience periods and everything else which does or can come with having a functioning menstrual cycle.

This is their bodies. Their right to choose that. Its not scandalous at all. It tends to be something done much later than I imagine people on this thread assume it is.

It's something I've wanted for 16 years, I was just over the BMI limit for the NHS to do it, whether for gender incongruence or for my debilitating endometriosis. They happily sterilised me though, aged 29, but only after I'd been begging for years and then nearly dying through a huge unwanted pregnancy complication, while in hospital.

It's never taken lightly.
