As an autistic woman my brain does not compute the sentiment in that image at all OP.
Of course you can be one without the other and all manner of variances.
Like a previous autistic poster, I do not like being told these inaccurate things as they simply just don't make sense amd are really dictatorial.
What I do understand is that for many of us autistics we struggle with our identities because we grew up having to pretend to be like somebody acceptable because people told us the way we were naturally was unacceptable.
Autistic women's identities are complicated and have a tendency to be heavily influenced by our special interests and who we feel happy being when nobody is telling us who we are is wrong...Many who don't change gender will change their names because of ill treatment as children and their names being said in vain a gazillion times.....extrapolate from that what you wish .....please google if you want to know more about this.
I wish NT people ould genuinely leave autistic people alone when they want to identify as whomever they wish. It's central to their wellbeing regardless.
I'm not writing this post to get into a debate about it, just asking for some general understanding of autistic identities if possible and some compassion.
Being autistic is hard and so is explaining it to the world🌸
