Pride parades not well attended in some parts?

I know pride as a whole was very toned down this month. The usual paraphernalia or pomp & ceremony wasn't displayed. I thought the parades would be well attended however there was a very poor showing in my town plus Dublin & Cork cities ones were also poorly supported.
Friends of mine in the lgb community said their was a huge appeal within the community for a big showing this year but it hasn't happened.
They boycotted pride as they say it no longer represents them & the vast majority of their friends did the same .

No shit Sherlock.

Badbudgeter · 25/06/2023 00:26

I’m happy to support the LGB community. I’m not overly interested in supporting a bunch of straight blokes with their kinks.

Moonandstarzz · 25/06/2023 00:26

To be honest @TerfIngOnTheBeach I noticed there was none of the usual fanfare this month. Our local shopping centre had no flags, the town centre & local businesses has no plastic rainbow graphics but I thought the parades would get a big turn out... My local one was a non event, Cork & Dublin very poorly supported, remember this is Ireland who is pandering to Barbie Kardashian!

Yep & the lgb community (at least my friends & family) are boycotting as it no longer represents them & their community. They were happy out watching the GAA with us, up Cork!

And I’m glad. Glad for Ireland and women and gays all over, we’re fed up of it, fed up of trans shit taking over pride and making it their own. The worm has turned, pride is not what it was, it’s now deep and dark, and it’s easier to cut it off than celebrate something we no longer applaud.

HereForTheFreeLunch · 25/06/2023 00:31

My town center had a fair on today. Lots of flags of different countries - not a single Pride related flag.

watcherintherye · 25/06/2023 00:36

Well, Waitrose is up for it. There’s a special poster on display and you can buy a Waitrose Pride bag!

Too right.. To be honest I was glad to see the month long shite abolished buy I did think yesterdays parades would have been reasonably supported...

Will they have it next year 🤔they're in the minority this year.
Would love to see neurodiversity, homelessness or animal rights get the amount of support Pride previously did.

I don’t know why they did it this year, particularly. They’re a bit behind the curve. They’ve never had anything before, as far as I remember, although I may be wrong.

Moonandstarzz · 25/06/2023 00:59

@watcherintherye they will need a more clued in marketing team next year😂

Far less pride flags at Glastonbury this year. Very noticeably.

Probationnotontarget · 25/06/2023 06:45

I think there’s been a lot of people waking up to the trans community within schools particularly - it’s become cult like and in-nerving - Never have there been so many children ‘coming out’ when they have never shown opposite tendencies before -

I would support Pride, however I am very accepting of people and their differences. People are People - equal rights should apply every day.

dementedpixie · 25/06/2023 06:48

My local tesco has balloons and flags and a billboard! Morrison's has tshirts. Nowhere else seems to have done much. Think there was a big gathering in Glasgow my brother was at

MistyGreenAndBlue · 25/06/2023 07:26

Pride is slowly dying off. Killed by the TQ and associated kinks.

It's a damn shame really, in a way, but it's no longer what it was.

Yes, I noticed that (watching on TV where you get a very good view of the flags).

arethereanyleftatall · 25/06/2023 07:33

No company who has any kind of presence on Twitter, would have dared! With good reason. Spend one minute on Twitter and you will discover 'trans' are simply violent MRA.

forkshoo · 25/06/2023 07:42

We celebrated pride month in our town but we did it in a different way. No parade. But instead a series of events held in all the cultural organisations. The theatre supported LBGT artists by showing their pre Edinburgh shows, the local Indy cinema showed LBGT films, there was a young persons take over where they learnt how to program similar events for next year (and met each other), there were some talks from local historians about local LBGT history.
It was just done really well and was really, really well attended.

Lots of truth in that, plus @JogOn123 is correct that the commercialisation and corporatisation (if that’s a word!) also put many people off.

Pride now is blokes co-opting everyone into their kinks, spicy hets, and corporate rainbow washing. That’s not an enticing day out.

That sounds great & very well planned.

Noticed the same! Hardly any flags at Glastonbury.. Those fickle hipsters who drink the kool aid know how to read the room that's for sure!

I think going for schoolchildren in an aggressive manner was always going to backfire. People- especially parents - find it sinister.

pues · 25/06/2023 08:03

Going for the children may well be the end of this ideology.
Parents are pushing back now- scuffles at DQST etc..
