Why do some of you hate Elon so much? Is it the latest cool trend? He has opened Twitter up to different voices. It’s a turning point.

He's revered by the younger generation. Elon advocating against this is so just powerful. Even the sheer amount of retweerts alone is unbelievable.. The whole world seems to be waking up to this.

@Moonandstarz

the Times, Telegraph, Daily Mail & lots of US media have turned incredibly GC.

And that's supposed to be a recommendation?

Don't judge everything based simply on what is"recommended" or not recommended in your particular social circle. Best to form your own views based on looking at actual reading material and evidence, and being open to alternative points of view.

Most of here were most likley Guardian readers until relatively recently - but once you've broken the with the ties that bind you are free to make up more of your own mind, and choose what you fancy.

NotHavingIt · 12/06/2023 08:50

It's bang on trend for younger, left wing people to hate Elon Musk - to the extent that they would not even watch the very informative Elon Musk Show On BBC - because he is a "fascist".

Guardian reader Princess? What news bodies do you think are acceptable?

I read a whole bunch of newspapers, but not those you mentioned.

Perhaps you could give The Times a go. It is actually very centrist. It has some stuffed shirts as readers, but it also has a whole lot of other readers too.

The Guardian has become a caricature.

What they are is very predicatble in conforming to script.

Exactly @NotHavingIt at the moment Th telegraph, the Times & the Daily Mail are publishing what I want to read & what resonates with me so I will support them.
I always buy the Mail with my morning coffee & will continue to do so. Times & Telegraph have recently become gc. Now they are publishing what I want to read I will support also.
I read New York Post articles from social media & they have also become very gc.
Twitter has my support again.

How do I tell the difference between predictable script-conforming and valiant free thinking? Or opposite-side predictable script-conforming?

Read both, assess which makes more sense?

Like many here I was a Guardian subscriber for all of my adult life, but ditched it for The Times - mainly due to Janice Turner, and because i wanted to encourage it to cover more on the issue of women's rights and the conflict with gender ideology - which they noow do.

We sometimes buy the Observer still on a Sunday - but even that annoys me more and more these days. I subscribe to several on-line magazines too.

I was a Guardian reader for 50 years.

Not any longer, because of its utter contempt for women and girls and their rights.

I'm imagining you are quite young princess - and maybe not necessarily naturally political. i say this because you seem to adopt 'positions' based entirely on perceived tribal affinity.

Maybe the younger left wing generation. But I think the rest of the younger generation revere him.
He is an extremely powerful, influential man who owns the biggest social media platforms. He is exactly who we need to be speaking out.
It's just incredible how quickly the tide really is turning.

At this point, to quote Kellie-Jay, the house is still on fire and the children are still inside. Sunlight is sunlight. I have no problem slagging off right-wing voices who happen to agree with me for their own misogynistic, homophobic purposes. That's what differentiates us from the TRAs. The TRAs ignore the rape threats, death threats and the using kids as sexual fetish props. We don't ignore or minimise the dickheads on our side.

cuckyplunt · 12/06/2023 09:00

Isn't one of Musk's children transgender?

What does "being transgender" even mean?

MrsOvertonsWindow · 12/06/2023 09:01

This is so important. Women on here and elsewhere have been shouting into the void about the "State-mandated sterilization of children" with limited impact. Finally powerful men have noticed and are speaking it. That in turn is liberating all those cowed by the institutional bullying to speak up.

Am I sorry that the "left" are unbothered about medical experimentation on children? Do I wish that the labour, lib dem parties, bbc, grauniad and all the other bastions of allegedly left wing thought don't give a toss about women's rights and child safeguarding? It's devastating.

But if they choose to whine about culture wars while ignoring the grooming of children in plain sight, it leaves it up to the rest of decent society to tackle the issues. Their call - they made a choice and it was evidently the wrong one. Now they've got to creep back across that golden bridge and right the terrible wrongs that are happening to children.

I'm 51 and a member of the Labour Party since 18, and I'll thank you not to patronise me. 🙄

Didn't mean to offend, but the way you talk makes you sound like you've not re-assessed or moved on at all in all that time. The way you say things sounds just like student politics.I too was a member of the Labour Party, and before that a political activist on left wing type issues - but with time have broken free of the old certainties and positions - and it has been very liberating.

You cannot see it when you are in it. But having been around Left type people for much of my life I understand them very well. When you understand something to that extent you can often be the biggest critic. Ideals always let you down.

They are only 'unthinking and naive' to Musk shills. Thanks for proving my point so fully and so quickly. I see no-one has challenged what I said about his support for Putin and Orban.

Can you expand on this support for Putin and Urban. what specifically has he said he supports?
