Anti-women Response from Caroline Lucas re: equality act

Caroline Lucas is my MP, sadly (I did not used to think that). I wrote to her requesting that she support the clarification that 'sex' in the equality act refers to biological sex. Her response is disgusting and shameful and I will be telling her so. Anyone who votes for that party now is casting a vote against women. I'll post her full response.

She clearly does see a difference between transwomen and women, hence why she's only capable of listening to one

It's the same as people who talk about not caring if people are blue/green. Pretending there isn't a difference helps no one

This.

Caroline is intentionally and demonstrably talking utter bollocks.

She knows that she is talking bollocks.

She knows that everyone else knows that she is talking bollocks.

Looking reality in the face and denying it's there? Bit of a capacity issue for an MP.

Yes.

I'm with you all the way on the fucks.
I'd only add, get the fuck out!

SunnyEgg · 08/06/2023 18:16

The trouble is there’s no shortage of gender believers in these parties

Abhannmor · 08/06/2023 18:27

So she has decided to retire ...hmm.

WhyDontYouGoVegan · 08/06/2023 18:48

Is this the thread where we share our email responses? Here's the one from my SNP MP:

Thank you for taking the time to write to me on this important subject, and please accept my apologies for the delay in a response to you.

Allow me to start by saying that I find the current Tory proposals for “clarifying” the Equality Act deeply unnecessary and even concerning, especially in light of the fact that they come to us in an atmosphere of continuing attacks on trans people in the public sphere, including an unprecedented challenge to Scotland’s devolution by way of the use of a S35 order to block the Gender Recognition Reform Bill.

Sex, sexual orientation, and gender reassignment are protected characteristics listed in the Equality Act 2010. “Clarification” that “sex” means the sex individuals are identified as at birth carries with itself the implication of clawing back rights that already exist, for purposes that remain fundamentally unclear, in the aftermath of a Scottish Parliament bill that explicitly states it does not modify the Equality Act 2010 or change the legal weight and effect of a Gender Recognition Certificate.

At present, the Equality Act does not deny that trans people can be excluded from communal accommodation and other single‑sex services where that is a proportionate means of achieving a legitimate aim. As such, any “clarification” would suggest an intent to further reduce existing rights for trans people, and while I treat any proposals for such “clarifications” with the utmost seriousness, at present I do not believe I can in good faith support them.

I hope this answers your query, and please do not hesitate to get in touch if there is anything else I can assist with.

Sure, I'll share my SNP MP's response:

RealityFan · 08/06/2023 19:10

We're really gonna see how our esteemed betters and leaders line up on this.

I'm so gonna get the popcorn in to watch so-called intelligent MPs happy to flush women's rights. And happy to say it publically.

There are no rights that trans lack compared to any other citizens.

There is no trans genocide, there will be no trans genocide. Just loose words from those intent in obfuscating with deliberately emotive language.

The suicide ideation concept is pure fantasy.

What there is, is mission creep where biological definitions of sex, from which all social and civic policy is formed, has been at risk and diluted by the confusion of sex between biological sex and gender.

Just look at VAWG...it is 99% or even 99.9% male-perpetetated historically. Suddenly in less than a decade, that figure is 95%. We're really to believe that 5-50x increase in women being violent against other women?

No, the confusion is because suddenly a whole tranche of violent men are now women under the law.

Look at women's health, poverty. We need the most accurate figures to pinpoint breast and cervical cancer risks, women's risks in childbirth, sex differentiation in terms of outcomes re poverty, very different men to women.

Health stats skewed by men becoming women as recognised when gender and sex are interchangeable, can only be to the detriment of the female sex class.

That's before we even get onto prisons, sports, wards, refuges, changing rooms, toilets, social spaces etc.

So, eminent MPs, just stow it with the platitudes, the We Are The World, the Trans Are The Most Threatened Minority (no they're not, let's look at Travellers and Romany), the Stonewall/Mermaids pro forma statements sent to every politician to be regurgitated like brain dead parrots.

You'll speak for all of us to hear.

In any sane world, there would be unanimity in locking sex >>> gender, while working hard to protect individuals' right to present differently and not be victimised.

But it's not a sane world. The political class are literally lemmings here.

My vote at the GE depends on what I hear next week.

WhyDontYouGoVegan · 08/06/2023 20:28

Haha, @ArabeIIaScott . Tbh, I was surprised to receive a response at all. My emails normally get ignored🙄

RealityFan · 08/06/2023 20:31

Her reply stretched to a couple of pages, yes?

Page One Fuck...
Page Two ...Off!

CheshireCat1 · 08/06/2023 20:54

She’s not standing at the next election.

MargotBamborough · 08/06/2023 21:12

Caroline Lucas is really disappointing.

She's been such a force for good in Parliament on many issues and I do genuinely believe that she's one of the few politicians who are there trying to make the country and the world a better place, rather than because they are a power hungry ego maniac.

I don't get WHY people like her have taken this position.

Yes, yes, be kind, whatever. I get why you could agree that TWAW as a starting point because you think it's just about being nice to a vulnerable minority and haven't really thought about the potential issues arising out of that.

But these left wing politicians have had it pointed out to them thousands of times now. They know about Karen White and Isla Bryson and Laurel Hubbard and Emily Bridges.

I'm absolutely certain that Caroline Lucas knows about Sarah Summers and the absence of single sex rape crisis support services in Brighton.

Why are they continuing to uncritically support this ideology?

I've been asking my CBT councillor that for a year.

Yes, I spend my money wisely, lol.

Florissante · 09/06/2023 06:54

I would like to ask Caroline Lucas if she is male or female. And if she responded "female" how she knows.

nilsmousehammer · 09/06/2023 07:58

She'd tie herself up in knots.

The bottom line really is that she is intentionally lying, knows she is, and expects everyone else to lie with her. You know the facts but you all either agree to pretend otherwise according to political doctrine of the moment, to benefit those you've decided are the current flavour of the month, or you are punished. By scolding, ostracism, harassment, job loss, police involvement, criminal proceedings.

I can't understand why the entire country isn't looking at this in horror and refusing to vote for any party that could think this was rational, because if they'll do this for one belief/group of current pets, they can do it for anything at all. You would have to be mad to think this is a mindset that should be trusted with power.

borntobequiet · 09/06/2023 08:54

Caroline Lucas is intelligent, capable and committed, but no more so than many other female MPs, who have had the additional difficulty of making progress in much bigger parties with far more complexity and nuance of policy. She has stood out in the GP because the general standard of people there is lower. No one seriously interested in wholesale change commits themselves to a single issue party. It’s also relatively easy to appear sensible and well intentioned over green issues, which are recognised as being important by many on both the left and the right, hence her generally making a good showing in Parliament.
However, what she clearly demonstrates is that intelligent and well intentioned people can be as deluded and blinkered as anyone on issues that require a suspension of common sense and reality.

ArabeIIaScott · 09/06/2023 09:17

Yes, that sounds about right, borntobequiet.

Abhannmor · 09/06/2023 09:37

Good point @borntobequiet . Another worry is that some people are bound to have a ' what else don't they know?' reaction to this lunacy.

I have a longstanding FB friend who is GC. Over the last year or so I've watched her become a climate skeptic and very suspicious of the left in general. This is the danger of repeating an outrageous lie - TWAW - over and over.

I had my angry alt right phase after the Bxt vote and eruption of Trump. Became for a couple of years quite unpleasant and shouty.
But I've totally reeled myself back in, I'm proud of myself that I didn't keep taking the Kool Aid.

However my aversion to TRA and the new elites consensus here only grows as each layer is peeled back, as the hydra keeps growing a new head.

I now despise the likes of Lucas as much as I do the other populists driving their agendas.
Make no mistake, the Greens across the West are already guilty of making our environmental situation worse (instrumental in Europe abandoning nuclear power, and in UK of us eliminating gas reserves), and to add insult to injury, they're part of the driving force in the gender movement to break all barriers and definitions.

It's not only the Right that are swivel eyed populists and single issue zealots at the expense of balanced policies.

Lucas is Farage/Boris, just her version of darling of radicalised Gen Zers everywhere.

DysonSpheres · 09/06/2023 09:56

I'm not surprised at all by her response.

I mean what did you expect from Caroline Lucas as left leaning at it comes?

Justme56 · 09/06/2023 10:23

Didn’t the Greens lose a load of Councillors at the local elections in Brighton recently. I gather they put things in place which started to peeve people off.

They did. Amongst their genius policies was a plan to close all public toilets: https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-sussex-64582279

Toilets sign

Brighton & Hove Council's plans to close public toilets dropped

Critics had warned the plans in Brighton and Hove would affect women, children and disabled people.

Maybe this is where the TRA piss artists outside the EHRC got their idea from.

A brave new world where men are women, and because the TRA supporting Greens have banned all public toilets, these fellas can spray with Pride.

dcbc1234 · 09/06/2023 11:01

It's all about the T lol. It helps explain why the Tories have been asleep at the wheel for so long. Even Theresa May drank the Kool Aid.
At least they allow their MPs to give their real opinions.

zibzibara · 09/06/2023 11:06

I don't consider these sort of politicians left-wing any more. They're something else entirely. I'm certainly not going to change my actual leftist views to whatever crap these idiots keep coming up with.

dcbc1234 · 09/06/2023 11:07

Phew of course just realised this is 'oh so reasonable' Green MP Caroline Lucas. Alas many (usually women) of similar genderwoo views in the Tories. No hope for the rest of the parties whatsoever.
