This sounds horrendous. How can the police do this.

And yes, it was exactly as we predicted in the previous thread.

Should a certain police officer pop up in this thread, please try not to get drawn into protracted, repetitive arguments with him. Please!

They weren't going to give her the allegations at all before court.

Is that even legal? It seems to go against all the principles of British justice.

It happens very very exceptionally.

No its not legal, it goes against international and UK human rights legislation which includes the right to know what you have been accused of.

This isn't a mistake, its not a misunderstanding. Its not one bad apple. There is a gradual chipping away at human rights going on which should concern everyone. This isn't about individual people who you may or may not like. This is about training a cohort within our population to follow orders that go against accepted legal and moral standards.

GP75 · 07/06/2023 12:14

Since when is misgendering an actual crime????

IcakethereforeIam · 07/06/2023 12:16

I suppose it could be the...whatever the opposite of mitigating is...aggravating? But that still leaves them needing an actual crime.

NotBadConsidering · 07/06/2023 12:20

Misgendering is not a crime, in the same way blasphemy is not a crime in the UK. No one is legally required to comply with a belief system.

This is insane levels of overreach.

GCalltheway · 07/06/2023 12:22

In order for anything to be aggravating there would need to be an original offence attached.

I am assuming - and it’s a huge assumption and possibly incorrect - that they are perhaps trying to charge her with the malicious communications act or similar?

This offence was designed to protect people on the internet, and is relatively new and it looks like it is just about to be tested in some capacity.

On what possible grounds they can request an order / DPVO?I have no idea.

MerlinsLostMarbles · 07/06/2023 12:23

Do Ms Farrow's police conditions permit her to post all this publicly online?

Are Mumsnet permitted to make a long thread judging her case and Surrey Police over it?

Iafontaine · 07/06/2023 12:27

wow I'm from a civil law jurisdiction so not sure if I have misunderstood what is going on, but the whole way this is being handled is surely many kinds of wrong. All power to CF!

OldCrone · 07/06/2023 12:27

Needmoresleep · 07/06/2023 12:10

If there are clear faults with police procedure and the way the police have handled an investigation she could try complaining to the Police and Crime Commissioner. There role is to ensure that police do their job. They do not get involved in investigations.

She's tweeted about the Surrey PCC.

https://twitter.com/CF_Farrow/status/1666362461476233219?cxt=HHwWhoCx9Y71jaAuAAAA

Please do not tag Lisa Townsend into anything. She has explicitly asked that nobody contacts her about a live police investigation, blocked me and appears to supporting the new Chief Constable she appointed who has put his name to this.

Dumbo12 · 07/06/2023 12:27

And now we have one of the TRA supporters trying to find a crime in reporting the process! This form of silencing people, or attempting to, says all that is needed to know about them and who they are.

Thelnebriati · 07/06/2023 12:28

Do Ms Farrow's police conditions permit her to post all this publicly online?

Yes, she deals with that issue in the first tweet. HTH.

Considering we've not long filled up a 1000 post thread about this very case, I think you can assume the answer to that is YES

lucky for us speech is still free. For all of us. (within parameters none of which are being breeched here, IMO)

Because otherwise what you are saying is that because plod turned up and arrested a woman for some unspecified reason which may or may not be a few tweets and "misgendering" someone - someone should be prevented, with zero evidence and no day in court in front of a judge/magistrate, from posting on the internet about their own life

Ridiculous to think we are grateful and checking we can speak in 2023 in the U.K. it’s bonkers. Then I remember all the times when we couldn’t….

Ahhhh but I think the real question is ...did we, or did somebody else 🤔

IcakethereforeIam · 07/06/2023 12:36

Oh, are the Police going to arrest me for posting on this thread? I wonder if I've time for a shower?

GCalltheway · 07/06/2023 12:38

Perhaps we can bake a cake in readiness and pop the kettle on?

DewinDwl · 07/06/2023 12:38

I have a pretty good idea who the complainant is and I am only a lurker and ocassional poster here. The complainant's actions, the baffling behaviour of Surrey police and the harassment of CF have been going on for a long time and they are nothing short of a scandal. If you live in Surrey please consider alerting your MP to this

GrabbyGabby · 07/06/2023 12:41

Whilst this update seems to be immensely worrying, there are a few concern flags for me around CF.

Please correct me if i am wrong, but her last live tweeted incident where the police were at her door, did this turn out that she was legally required to be at the station and was a no show?

Also interesting that Lisa Townsend, who has been very vocal about GC concerns and has stuck her neck out on several occasions seems to have backed well away from this one.

I cant imagine what she could have said or done to justify this hugely intrusive response, but i would not be shocked if some stuff comes out about CF that we just dony know.

Ringsender2 · 07/06/2023 12:41

BlowDryRat · 07/06/2023 10:05

Bloody hell. That poor woman! My ex is a rapist and an abuser with a criminal record. I had an NMO out against him harassing me but let it drop because the police brushed me off every time I reported a breach.

All this for "misgendering" bollocks, when actual women are really dying on the police's watch? Fuck off.

exactly this

GCalltheway · 07/06/2023 12:38

No drink....okay, coffee but only instant and plain biscuits....but not malted milk. I'm not a monster.

If you are not perfect according to the 2023 world view of some, you don't deserve anything, can Caroline have a glass of water or is that off the cards too?
