Emma Vigeland, presenter on The Majority Report, a "progressive" internet talk radio programme and podcast, has made it crystal clear that gender identity trumps fairness when it comes to sport.

Unfortunately I'm not tech savvy enough to clip the relevant section from the show directly, but plenty of other have, including Triggernometry presenter Konstantin Kisin, who Tweeted about it. You can see the video on his Twitter page:

Emma has not backed down from her comments and has since mocked "terfs" for being "triggered" by her, declaring that "gender affirming care" for minors would solve all of the problems anyway:

Emma has unequivocally declared that she is right on this issue.

Fascinating to see any pretence that the subject is "complicated" has gone - no, if a person with a penis wants to compete in women's sports, then that takes priority over everything else, including fairness.

As a side note, she used to be a presenter on The Young Turks and made a (very) half-hearted attempt to defend her former colleague Ana Kasparian last month after Ana lost patience with being referred to as a "birthing person". (Interestingly, Ana hasn't retreated from her own comments either.)

I saw that clip. It was so angry. I would expect women to react like that after being pushed and pushed and pushed and for it to be personally defensive. This is such a male reaction. I don't agree so I'm going to shout and swear

As you say, it’s interesting to see a move away from ‘it’s complicated’ or ‘let’s wait for more evidence’ to just ‘Science can fuck off. Yes, it might not be fair but I don’t care’

At least we know. It’s a choice that sports have to make. Inclusion ( exclusion for females) OR fairness, safety.
no more pretending that it can be tweaked here and there or we haven’t done enough studies.
I think she also said that if female sports weren’t inclusive then they might as well not exist.
a hard position to justify and obviously extreme but I guess an argument she is allowed to make and everyone else can ignore

And a tool for the patriarchy with her rant about how women’s sport was so new anyway, so it shouldn’t matter.

Just someone who perfectly illustrates the saying "don't be so open minded that your brains fall out."

I used to see her on The Young Turks from time to time. Often didn't agree with her, but didn't realise she was a complete idiot.

Gender affirming care for children will in no way “solve” the problem because as adults, they will be too busy dealing with the ill health that no puberty, wrong sex hormones and surgery has done to their bodies to be anywhere near any form of competitive sport.

People really have no idea what damage this pathway does to children, do they?

You can’t make the Olympics with spinal fractures from osteoporosis FFS.

This. It is all so stupid and dangerous.
There was a woman waxing lyrical on LBC about her trans daughter ( born male) who had had the puberty blockers and surgery, she was being fawned over by the female presenter and all I could think of was poor Jazz Jennings. These poor children are going to suffer so much pain and disability.

It's to show the intellectual bankruptcy of their arguments.

And to show how, at the end of the day, the "it's complicated" position is not even sincerely believed by those who advocate for the inclusion of male-bodied people in women's sports.

As for "who are they?", they have a fairly big platform on new media. Plenty of people follow them.

I agree that the children who physically transition as minors will have so many health problems that competitive sports is unlikely to be an option for them at a higher level.

So yes, transitioning minors will "solve" some of the problems but not in the way that Emma thinks it will.

This would be why Emma is not in charge of making decisions that require sanity and a sense of responsibility. Emma can think what Emma likes. Men have no place in women's sports and Emma is rather demonstrating her personal limitations by implying that she is the only woman on the planet that those rights affect and that every other woman is a carbon copy of Emma. It's all a bit Let Them Eat Cake. But I'm sure she's enjoying the good girl cookies, head pats and lovely warm glow of naive virtue.

Let's say the world decides Emma's right. Women's sports are open to bio males.
A sufficient number of male athletes identify their way in to make participation pointless for actual women.
Women's sports dwindle and the chaps lose their chance to "shine".
What will Emma do then? Support a campaign to compel women to compete against men for their gratification and affirmation?
Perhaps there will be prison-like facilities where female athletes are detained and forced to compete against men.
