The new British Cycling policy goes public at 11am tomorrow. Anyone dare to speculate on the outcome? Will it be a win for women?

I am blocked 😮

Poppyblush · 26/05/2023 12:33

Well done British Cycling! Let’s hope more stand up for what matters.

Queengrimsby · 26/05/2023 12:34

I mean, I think people are coming around to the logic of this now. I am all for respecting peoples rights and making people feel welcome, but when it comes to sports it doesn't seem to be vital for self identification or for your rights to compete in sports at the expense of biological sense and woman. Woman are the ones that seem to get hurt when it comes to sport and having that as an outcome and the expense of feelings in nonsense. Whereas just being police in everyday life and saying somebodies pronouns also doesn't hurt anyone either.

NeverTrustAPoliceman · 26/05/2023 12:34

Emily is a bit confused, isn't he? As far as I can tell, nobody has said he can't race. He'll just have to be in the men's category along with the other competitors who have the same type of chromosomes.

He needs a bit of time out, like any other tantrumming toddler.

I was talking to someone this morning who has a son working on the front line as a doctor in Ukraine. I think he is more likely to understand what a "violent act" is than a sports cheat.

MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 26/05/2023 12:40

I genuinely think that one reason TRAs are so determined to silence mothers is that we recognise their tactics and are unphased by them.

Beowulfa · 26/05/2023 12:41

I do actually feel a tiny bit sorry for Bridges in that the sports authorities have wriggled and squirmed and fudged and hoped it would all just go away. If there'd been common sense and clarity applied right from the start Bridges wouldn't have been encouraged in the delusion.

nilsmousehammer · 26/05/2023 12:42

I suspect it's going to take experience for Emily to realise that Emily's still living Emily's life and competing in the open category and is completely unharmed.

But yes. Many of those at the forefront of social media on this matter really don't appear to be very well people.

Emily Bridges is planning an exit plan from this 'terrible island' at the moment because she cannot cycle against women! Wow. She seriously needs to look at problems faced in other countries. She can still cycle against men.

I suggest Afghanistan where they can live under their anti women customs and practices and exist in misery. It might shut them up at least.

SinnerBoy · 26/05/2023 12:44

I was wondering who the grubby, sycophantic lickspittle Sandy was and now see she's Em's mammy. That certainly explains the overblown hyperbollocks she's managed to spew.

Downright falsehoods, not least on pretending that there's no scientific evidence to show that transw have an unsupportable advantage over women.

And then Em's magnificently deluded, deranged rant, which them has said will be cherry picked by journalists. Well, it's not so much a bunch of cherries as a brontosaurus sized turd of overblown, counter-evidential phlegm.

Every single thing them wrote there is false, not least the Nazi British Government telling them to ensure that men are no longer allowed to compete in events for women.

They is despicable, with them's emotive dissembling, regarding genocides and driving they to them's early grave.

Them will simply have to go back to cycling in they's correct sex class and suck up being 500th again, instead of maintaing the entirely unfair fiction that them is the bestest, fastest woman of all time.

Perhaps Em can go for a triathlon? They have probably wept enough false, performative tears to fill a hole for the swimming event.

Anyway, congratulations for women athletes, who train bloody hard to make it to the top. A well deserved level field exists for you again, after this slightly unexpected outbreak of common sense.

MavisMcMinty · 26/05/2023 12:45

Ha ha! Almost all poll respondents under that Pink News article feel “love” or “happy” about this news!

littlbrowndog · 26/05/2023 12:45

What does this mean cycling experts - what is talent development centre ?

This includes our Breeze programme, a women-only community programme, which will continue to remain open and inclusive for transgender women and non-binary people.
Trans and non-binary people can also continue to participate in a broad range of British Cycling activities in line with their gender identities, including: club and coach-led activities, ability based race programmes (such as Go-Race events), community programmes, Talent Development Centres and non-competitive events such as sportives.
Throughout the implementation period, we will be commencing a programme of digital improvements which will widen the gender options available to members and participants across our platforms.

CoronationArmy · 26/05/2023 12:46

Well isn’t this wonderful news. I was slowly losing the will to live but there’s hope for common sense!

JudgeJ · 26/05/2023 12:47

DifficultBloodyWoman · 26/05/2023 11:36

Good grief! That is one fuck tonne of hyperbole!

A Bingo statement, ticks many many boxes, whoever this person is. Is one allowed to used the word person these days?

Plipplopdrop · 26/05/2023 12:47

Excuse my ignorance on the matter, but would it not be a solution to simply create a trans or non binary section of the sport? Therefore women aren't competing against male bodies and the other issues raised?
Surely the most inclusive and respectful thing to do is simply expand the offering, rather than put people at risk in order to accommodate others?

I'm sure I've probably missed a vital element

Zodfa · 26/05/2023 12:47

Emily doesn't need the media to cherry-pick quotes to make him look hysterical; the whole piece does that much better than any individual parts of it could.

Wait, what?

JanesLittleGirl · 26/05/2023 12:48

Was there an autocorrect malfunction in Emily's first sentence? I'm sure that it should have read 'cheating' rather than 'cycling'.

DarrellRiversCriminalBehaviourOrder · 26/05/2023 12:48

Bridges claims to be banned from racing. That's just not true.

Signalbox · 26/05/2023 12:48

don’t forget to vote at the end

Lol seems that Pink News has done a feel good story...

India Willoughby on twitter:

"Telling trans women they can still compete in the “Open” category, but actually, it’s the Mens event rebranded"

Oh the irony 😂

Who was it that rebranded the word 'woman' in the first place? Who was it that rebranded the penis as 'female'? Who was it that rebranded words to mean 'literal violence'.

Does somebody need a wah-mbulance 😭

Cry me a river. About bloody time.

Somebody needs to tell India that actually women and trans men are also allowed to compete in the open category, and that India saying that the open category is just the men’s rebranded rather exposes India’s true belief about what transwomen actually are…

Hopefully her bus won't have a lot of empty seats, fill them with others who want to cheat at sports.

I have not a scintilla, a jot, not one iota of sympathy for Bridges, or any of the other XY shysters, who knew exactly what they were about, from the very beginning.

The world is a slightly fairer place today, so sick it up, Em.

I’m not sure but I like your use of the pronoun ‘one’. One thinks it should be used more often! 😉

lifeturnsonadime · 26/05/2023 11:26

Bridges' mum has blocked me on twitter but christ on a bike that statement is completely unhinged.

I'm concerned for Emily's mental health, seriously.

Comparing this decision with Rwandan genocide and saying it is an act of violence is completely insane.

It's very worrying, I agree. None of the trans people I know think like this, and some of them think this sort of reaction is damaging.
