The new British Cycling policy goes public at 11am tomorrow. Anyone dare to speculate on the outcome? Will it be a win for women?

Emily Bridges is planning an exit plan from this 'terrible island' at the moment because she cannot cycle against women! Wow. She seriously needs to look at problems faced in other countries. She can still cycle against men.

Yeah, my response to that would be ‘don’t let the door hit you on the ass on your way out’.

I hope of sporting bodies, indeed, other countries follow suit. And quickly.

DifficultBloodyWoman · 26/05/2023 11:44

of = other

FFS, must proofread better

However, if those boys are barred from professional competitions, will they bother to progress in the amateurs? Its not brilliant, but I think we are looking at a move in the right direction for professional sport, now we have female-only categories for rugby, swimming and cycling. We need to keep going.

Those looking to move on to professional level might not bother.

Those males just looking for validation will continue to participate in "women's" events at grassroots level.

CirreltheSquirrel · 26/05/2023 11:44

I'm looking at it now - it says all BC sanctioned competitive events, not just elite, so presumably it would cover lower (amateur) levels too as long as it's under BC rules (which pretty much all competitive cycling other than time trials is).

Apparently TW have been invited to a meeting at 10.30am prior to the announcement. Does that mean good news for us? Let’s hope so

Oh so they can tell the difference then. Who knew?

She doesn't want to cycle against men, because she cannot win against men. Her statement does not address the core reason for the decision, that transwomen have a biological advantage. Saying 'it's not true' and accusing the organization and everyone on the planet who agrees with the decision of being sexist, transphobic, homophobic (and more words like this) doesn't garner support for her situation.

Madcats · 26/05/2023 11:50

Swim England's policies apply to all ages; I recently had a re-circulate the revised rules and regs for a competition for 9-12 year olds that is planned for September. There are rather a lot of terfy mothers in swim clubs here

pollykitty · 26/05/2023 11:51

AlecTrevelyan006 · 26/05/2023 11:41

What a loony.

Totally. It doesn't make any sense. It doesn't address the core issue that she has a biological advantage. Just accuses everyone of hate.

Let’s hear it for TERFY mums! It’s understandable that they may want to check that everyone is on the same page about the policies, even if it is administratively annoying.

So many weeping TRAs are planning on leaving TERF island.

Tatty bye!

So sad.

NotChassePatate · 26/05/2023 11:59

This is such a relief to hear. Thank goodness fairness and logic have finally prevailed.

The mother IMO has a lot to answer for here.

Good parenting means always being in your child's corner, no matter what, unconditionally. But as in boxing, being a good 'cornerman' is emphatically not about indulging your charges's every whim, to always encourage them to hold the line no matter how bad their decisions might be. It's about, as far as you can, trying to gently steer them to act in their own long-term interests . Much of this seems to have been overlooked by this Sandy.

Ostryga · 26/05/2023 11:11

Emily Bridges having a proper tantrum. It’s a “violent act” apparently 🙄

Boo hoo.

Emily doesn’t give a single solitary shit about the rights or feelings of women, it’s all ‘me, me, me’.

Emily, love, nothing’s gone wrong for you here. You can compete in the correct category for your sex and body composition, just like everyone else. It’s not something to get upset about, unless you’re frustrated you don’t get to cheat. If you’re upset about it, seek psychotherapy to improve your resilience and gain a healthier perspective on the world and your place in it.

FigRollsAlly · 26/05/2023 12:02

Sky News reporting this fairly neutrally although the reporter did claim the science “isn’t settled”. Isn’t it?

Completely agree. Indulging your offspring’s every whim, no matter how misguided or destructive, is NOT good parenting.

MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 26/05/2023 12:03

Thank fuck for that...

...but also...

...about fucking time.

lacucarachaaa · 26/05/2023 12:05

Correct decision.

Now they can try and get over their own mediocrity and fragile egos in the new open category instead of robbing women of their hard work and success. Wonderful!

GulesMeansRed · 26/05/2023 12:07

Awww, poor Emily. Emily says that this has banned Emily from competing in cycling. It has not. Emily will have to race with the men in the open category, as Emily was not born female.

SO pleased they have used the term "born female" rather than "assigned female at birth".

ThePoshUns · 26/05/2023 12:09

British Triathlon and Swim England have also announced they will have the same 'female' and 'open' categories.
Hopefully the scales are starting to fall from the eyes of some

An Open category solves it all. Thank fuck sense is being seen. Now if only Ed Davies wasn’t being a dick about dicks…

SidewaysOtter · 26/05/2023 12:10

That's a corker of a statement, isn't it? Violence, fascism, genocide, literal Nazis, hate crimes, eradication...it's all there, and via a canter round the government's refugee policy, the evils of petrochemical companies and ultra-capitalists to boot.

My favourite bit is the last line: "I hope the media have fun cherry-picking quotes from this and making me look hysterical".

Emily has managed to look hysterical and utterly unhinged all by Emily's self.

SidewaysOtter · 26/05/2023 12:12

Clymene · 26/05/2023 11:28

They'll never go anywhere. They might wang on about TERF Island, how we're sleepwalking into a fascist state and the government want to kill us all but they never leave. Someone I used to know would spout this shite all the time - if it's so bad, why are you still here?

loislovesstewie · 26/05/2023 12:14

Emily is also talking about 'genocide' on his Instagram post. I find that deeply insulting in view of the actual genocides that have taken place. I mean, not being able to compete against women is hardly a death sentence is it?
