This was in a Colorado - Utah race a couple of days ago. Apologies if there's already a thread. I didn't see one.

Interestingly, this was in the race for cyclists aged 40-49. I wonder if older athletes are less likely to stand for this nonsense. Anyway, good for them. I hope this spreads to younger cyclists and other sports.

Whether transitioning is a good idea is a scientific question, but certainly not settled for children.

Yes!!! Social and culture science exists! Yay! But no one considers them physical sciences that deal with material reality that can be proven time and time again. While even physical sciences are theoretical at times, most scientists acknowledge something is still theoretical and make judgement on it.

I think the problem here is that males who identify as 'transwomen' are playing sport with their identity. The whole point is validation. (Plus misogyny - getting to put uppity women in their place by beating them.)

Science is a method.

Trans women are women. Fact. Science backed fact.

Backed by what science? For anything to be backed by science you need clear definitions, categories and measurable characteristics.

So,

Definition of woman
Categories of woman and non woman: who is included and why
Characteristics of woman: how do we verify who is a woman and who is not
How to measure characteristics: where are the boundaries
How that then relates to sport, as this is the discussion here

Remember, sports is played with bodies, not feelings, minds or social conventions. So you need to put in definitions, categories and characteristics based on human bodies.
