Austin Killips won the Tour of the Gila women's race www.cyclingnews.com/races/tour-of-the-gila-2023/stage-5-women/results/
Just outrageous. Any tweet by the organisers mentioning Killips has restricted comments (but of course many quote tweets)
It's getting more and more ridiculous:

  • the rider retained their original male first name, Austin.
  • they rode for the Amy D Foundation, set up to encourage and support young women through cycling, inspiring the celebration of healthy challenge and empowering the confident pursuit of lofty dreams.
  • this is the first year the women's prize money is the same as the men's.
You couldn't make it up. When will the most sports-loving country in the world protect and give a shit about women in sport?

From what I can make out, director Julie sounds like it was a team effort with Austin deliberately chosen to be the person the team was supporting to win, and the other riders, Casey in particular, were chosen to support Austin in winning. ( in the way the riders in tour de France teams work to help one member of their team win). Which makes it a team cheat effort to help a male win, from a team set up to support women.

How can Julie live with herself? This is basically approved cheating. It’s her loophole, to get her team to win.

This was always inevitable.

There are large rewards for your person winning: sponsorship, publicity, the money is big.

If you can win by the certainty that some beta males will successfully knock out females, then yes of course you'd be all for them being in the women's races. Why wouldn't you? A sense of honour? Morals? Ethics over personal gain?

So last century.

Bloody hell do I miss the last century.

I'm loving the Twitter references today about men winning women's races due to 'gender doping'.

anunlikelyseahorse · 03/05/2023 12:11

The only good thing I can think of is this: the prize money is quite substantial so what's to stop any man from saying that they felt like a woman when they entered the competition and then felt like a woman in the day of the race, so now we're back to biological males competing against biological males? I really really hope more biological males do this....because those who know they'd never win in a male to male race will have a tantrum 'because it's not fair' and will shine an even brighter light on the quite ridiculous situation we're currently in.

Roughly paraphrasing what he's saying - at first he took oestrogen to 'feminise' the body but latterly it was just to suppress Testosterone in order to be allowed to race women. It seems that the latter times were when the difficult side effects really made themselves clear.

Does oestrogen block testosterone? Or does he just want the feminising effects of oestrogen without the nasty side effects of androgen blockers? Interesting admission that androgen blockers have nasty side effects though.

Nails it, that is!

Professional motorcycle racer Judd E. Banner, the brave trans-vehicle rider, was allowed to race after he told league organizers he's always felt like a bicyclist in a motorcyclist's body.
🤣

PatatiPatatras · 04/05/2023 06:50

The short sightedness of the sporting bodies is irritating.
Once this ideology takes hold, it isn't the western transwomen who will win all the medals for women.
It is the transwomen of all the other nations which never seem to win any medals that'll take the lot. The ethical standards of "no one transitions just to win" just won't apply to them. Western bodies will have themselves in a bind as they'll have racism allegations stopping them from pointing out the blatantly obvious.
At this point, girls would have stopped caring about elite sport and the men will fight each other for the right to the women's podium.
Some women will still compete as some "low level" competitions will attract only women. It'll look like women's sport still exists. It'll be a mess for women but there'll be no outcry about women, just how unfair it is that not all countries have the same standards.

“The ethical standards of "no one transitions just to win" just won't apply to them.”

Not sure this ethical standard applies to Western “TW” tbf.

It's funny how the trans activists distinguish between genuinely pretending to be a woman versus pretending to pretend to be a woman in their arguments. It's still a man either way!

nilsmousehammer · 04/05/2023 08:41

Bizarre, isn't it.

Activists: Women, revolve your lives entirely around what this male says happens to be going on between his ears at this moment, prepare to switch pronouns/reality/boundaries.... btw he might be lying.

Women: how do we tell?

Activists: you cannot refuse to revolve on command whether he is or not, since you might accidentally 'punish' a real one by trying not to get hurt by a pretending one. This isn't about you! Service human on three. One, two, good girl....

I think this has already happened with weightlifting!
