Uses she/her throughout, ‘one woman show’ etc etc - calling anyone who disagrees that TWAW ‘fascists’.

Every time I think I’m inured to this rubbish I read or see something that makes me despair. What a pathetic, preening liar he is.

‘I’m going for it like crazy’: Eddie Izzard on her one-woman, 19-role Great Expectations

After 30 years, the standup star is now finally winning acting plaudits, for a ‘tour de force’ take on Dickens with sharper punchlines – and Hamlet is next

Like many of us I liked Eddie when he was an out and proud transvestite, he was funny, he wore women's clothes and a bit of slap and looked ok.
These days he seems a parody of his former self, taken to the extreme.
And as many women are totally pulled to bits in the media for the crime of being less than pretty and hence unworthy of the male gaze, I have to ask -- how and why does Eddie Suzy get away with it?
(Rhetorical question, obviously.)

Yes - except as he said, they weren't "women's clothes", they were his clothes.

SiobhanSharpe · 27/04/2023 12:16

Ok, he wore female clothing that he owned.

I’ve got a family member just beginning their trans journey, I’ve witnessed their internal struggle firsthand. I do worry for their future.

@Mermaidparades And I worry about my Dd. Having epilepsy she wont be allowed to learn to drive. Not allowed to drink alcohol. Not allowed to have children (unless under strict medical supervision). Has to be monitored at nights in case of seizures and woken up at set times to have medication. Yet to look at her you wouldn’t know. She’s got amazing exam results. She has short hair due surgery but that doesn’t make her any less female. She has spent months in different hospitals. Her seizures are triggered by her menstrual cycle - and so very much something she hasn’t got the power to identify out of. What she can do is go out and about with me staying fairly close by for her independence. And I would hope, as an adult would have access to a female ward in hospital. She will be allowed to marry in this country - this didn’t used to be the case until recently. In some countries you still can’t.

Incidentally I phoned up the manufacturers of the new mixed sex full door height toilet cubicles we encountered in a trendy venue she likes, and asked them how I would get in quickly if she collapsed. They said no one had asked them before. Their doors open inwards and there is a special attachment that you can use to twist and hoik the whole door up and out but it’s heavy. There’s a long YouTube video to teach people apparently. Great. Doesn’t matter what gender you are, these toilets are not safe. If it wasn’t for all the gender ideology trend there would still be the single sex toilets with the door gap to check if someone was ok and I could climb over if necessary.

So this is a good example where this ideology is trampling over safety.

I hope your family member gets the help they need to inform them. It needs to be clear that they can not change sex for physical and mental health reasons. Also if the family member is female and school age, by 6th form many have grown out of the trend so give her the information and opportunity to do so where she can ‘save face’. And read up on the ‘happiness’ of those after transition - it’s not what a lot hoped for. It’s can’t be as they are wanting the impossible.

literalviolence · 27/04/2023 11:19

This is a really good point. If his appearance does not match because he wears a frock and mail varnish, mine doesn't match because I don't do those things. Way to go mermaid, you just excluded me from the category of woman.

Yep. What is it in my appearance that makes me 'match' my birth certificate?

Either you can tell me about my physical biology, or you are going to suggest some arbitrary stereotypical nonsense like 'wears a skirt'.

And yet you don't seem to worry about the women affected by those who transition from M to F?

I have every sympathy with your relative. But I don't believe that they have the right to come into women's spaces. Because they will never be women.

FrancescaContini · 27/04/2023 14:34

Can’t read because “she” is actually a “he”.

Mermaidparades · 27/04/2023 09:36

@literalviolence you’re right, I don’t get it and I hope I never will. Someone’s true self should be celebrated.

If everyone could celebrate their 'true self', we could have actual progress.

Biological male who enjoys wearing stereotypical female clothing? Celebrate the truth of that all day.

Biological male decides he is a woman, because he 'feels like a woman'? This is absolute nonsense.
I have asked many women if they 'feel like women'. They simply don't understand the question.
Biological women just ARE women. It's not a special feeling, an outfit, a way of exercising. It's a reality, and we deal with the specific issues continually, as they arise.

Some recently transitioned Transwomen tell us 'how it feels to be a woman'. They seem to think that we are some homogeneous group of stereotypes.
They like to imagine that they feel like women, and insist that their experiences of womanhood cannot differ from ours. Therefore they can tell us how we feel by default.

Now biological women are being asked to kindly include some men into the category. Simply because those men feel like they belong there.
But sometimes they are men, when it's more advantageous. And it's their right to be respected and applauded for 'bravery', whilst being completely disrespectful to women.

It's not bravery. It's not individuality. It's not honesty, either.
It's misogyny.

Respectful transwomen have existed as part of society for a long time. They don't hate women, or demand that women feel uncomfortable or distressed for their sakes.
This nonsense hurts them so badly.

Colluding in any fantasy that they can be a member of the opposite sex, or that others will ever really perceive them as such can only harm them in the long run

I know some smart arsed stranger on the internet saying such things is no help in what must be an incredibly difficult situation though

Mermaidparades · 27/04/2023 16:04

@BernardBlacksMolluscs 💗 when did it all get so tricky??

SweetSakura · 27/04/2023 17:32

Exactly. Crack on. Fab. He can wear all the skirts and heels he likes. I don't mind. Whatever floats his boat.

But he is no more a woman for wearing them than I am man if I don a pair of jeans and some trainers.

Mermaidparades · 27/04/2023 09:36

@literalviolence you’re right, I don’t get it and I hope I never will. Someone’s true self should be celebrated.

But trans ideology is about the exact opposite of that. Rejecting your true self. Changing you true self.

If only everyone could just accept and celebrate their true selves.

BornBlonde · 28/04/2023 01:17

Still sooooo sick of all the boy mode and girl mode nonsense. You are a 60+ old man - not a woman, girl or boy.

bringbacktheladiesloos · 28/04/2023 02:18

My true self doesn't want men in women's single sex space. Why can't you celebrate that?

Yes!
We demand the right to have OUR true selves back. That means NO penises anywhere near where real girls and real women are undressing or bathing.

OccultGnuNew · 28/04/2023 10:10

I loved Eddie in his Definite Article era. Now I'm bewildered.

When he's filming what happens if he wakes up in girl mode on a day where he's required to portray a male character?

Does he decline to fulfil his contract as he's not in the right head space to perform the role and feels he's been miscast/not being authentic to his true self? Or does he crack on with the job as he understands there are solid reasons to go against his feelings that day?

Does this mean there are times when he's acting as a bloke for work but feels female? And other times when his feelings align with his role and he "is" a bloke?

Can someone make it make sense?

SargentSagittarius · 28/04/2023 10:51

Basically, he goes into ‘girl’ mode when he needs some attention.

And then goes into ‘boy’ mode when he needs the name recognition, to be paid, or to be taken in any way seriously.

Nice work, if you can get it.

And the reality is that this is a game you only get to play if you're male.

He has superpowers.
He knows how it feels to be a woman, and how it feels to be a man.
Apparently a subsection of men can accurately define how it feels to be a woman.

Those women ARE women, so we have to be redefined as cis women.
Cis women don't have the special knowledge of the feelings required to be women.

I'm glad we have gender fluid people available. They can finally define the correct properties of women.
I was pretty fucked before these explanations.

TheBiologyStupid · 02/05/2023 22:11

Oh, having seen that photo without any doubt Eddie's a woman - I take it all back ;o)

SargentSagittarius · 02/05/2023 22:12

Yeah, women always grapple with their external genitals while waiting for the loo.

🙄 x infinity.

Eddie Izzard interview - one of the stupidest things I’ve ever read
ValuePartnership · 02/05/2023 22:16

"Izzard’s most profound sense of accomplishment lies in being recognised at last as an actor."

Not in being an actor, but of being recognised as a actor. Tells you everything - that is what the whole trans things is: not being, but being recognised as the adopted gender. The reviews are everything.

Boiledbeetle · 02/05/2023 22:18

For a man to use the ladies once is unfortunate and maybe accidental.

To use it twice is on purpose.

And that’s one thing.

But self-ID means any fucker can come in and use them now. Literally anyone who wants. And no-one can stop them.

Do you understand the implications of that?
