Uses she/her throughout, ‘one woman show’ etc etc - calling anyone who disagrees that TWAW ‘fascists’.

Every time I think I’m inured to this rubbish I read or see something that makes me despair. What a pathetic, preening liar he is.

‘I’m going for it like crazy’: Eddie Izzard on her one-woman, 19-role Great Expectations

After 30 years, the standup star is now finally winning acting plaudits, for a ‘tour de force’ take on Dickens with sharper punchlines – and Hamlet is next

@BernardBlacksMolluscs I’m a polite and respectful person, I will always try my best to use preferred names and pronouns.

I'm polite and respectful. So I won't enable a man to intimidate girls in female spaces.

It all depends who you think it’s most important to be polite and respectful to innit?

i choose women, not people who want to use social pressure to shame me into pretending I can’t tell what sex they are

such people have already proved by their behaviour that they’re not trustworthy

Mermaidparades · 27/04/2023 09:28

Oh gosh everyone seems to have jumped on me! All I can say is that I vehemently disagree with treating people with disdain because their outward appearance doesn’t match their birth certificate. I can’t comment on the toilets issue because I obviously wasn’t there.

Exactly. I do think people like Eddie deserve help for their mental delusions. But throwing women under the bus to help them feel better is just funking a vulnerable group over. Therapy is needed as with any other distressing detachment from reality.

How does an outward appearance 'match' a birth certificate?

Mermaidparades · 27/04/2023 09:31

@BernardBlacksMolluscs @literalviolence Would you be similarly outraged if someone you knew in real life opened up that they believed their true self was like Suzy?

So stop treating women with disdain. You don't need to have been there to imagine how the girls felt. Have some empathy for them.

You are still not getting it. I don't care what someone thinks their true self is. I care whether men feel entitled to put themselves in women's spaces. I would be outraged at any male friend who did that and would not consider them a friend any more. I don't want friends who treat other people like shit.

Mermaidparades · 27/04/2023 09:34

@literalviolence it sounds awful, I feel sorry for the girls. I hope Suzy learned from the experience. Has it reoccurred?

Boiledbeetle · 27/04/2023 09:34

Mermaidparades · 27/04/2023 08:56

@Boiledbeetle Suzy has dressed and behaved in a similar way since I first became aware of her, in the 1990s. So although it really isn’t any of my business I don’t believe she’s ‘ just going through a phase’ Suzy may not look and sound like you and I, but I’m sure she wishes she was able to. I don’t think it’s helpful to comment further on that.

Yes Eddie has always dressed like he does now. But until trans became his latest meal ticket he had absolutely no issues being a man who liked to wear feminine clothes whilst using women's spaces he want entitled to use.

Of course now he can use being Trans as his argument to use single sex spaces he's not entitled to use, but that still doesn't make it OK. And it doesn't magically make him change sex.

He is still the entitled man he always has been. That doesn't change when you go from Eddie to Susie.

Mermaidparades · 27/04/2023 09:36

@literalviolence you’re right, I don’t get it and I hope I never will. Someone’s true self should be celebrated.

Boiledbeetle · 27/04/2023 09:39

Anyone got the photo from the back end of last year i think of Eddie going into the ladies toilets?

Tinysoxx · 27/04/2023 09:41

@Mermaidparades Izzard can not change sex. Therefore if he uses mixed sex changing rooms and toilets and hospital ward beds it means they are now mixed-sex areas. Obviously not accusing Izzard of anything but welcoming him in means any other man can say he come in too. Mix sex facilities have a higher rate of sexual assaults on women and children. Women’s prisons are having to hand out condoms and women have said they are being raped.

Schools, to counteract gender-ideology are replacing single-sexed toilets with mixed-sex toilets with full ceiling to floor doors (as everyone seems to be aware boys will peep at girls). This means people that have conditions like epilepsy, heart conditions, fainting, collapsing through drugs/alcohol etc etc are less visible. My daughter (registered disabled) had to use the girls’ toilet in case she had a seizure. It was in her educational plan that she did not use the disabled toilet. She gets confused before a seizure so a disabled loo is of no use. Upto 1 in 100 people have epilepsy. So that’s a lot of people less safe in public spaces. Where do you go when you’re feeling ill in public?

Can you see how giving extra rights to men who want to be women and vice versa means that the safety of more vulnerable people is taken away now?

Theeyeballsinthesky · 27/04/2023 09:42

Just a reminder of what Eddie used to say about clothes.

Eddie Izzard interview - one of the stupidest things I’ve ever read
Tinysoxx · 27/04/2023 09:43

…I meant to say if Izzard uses single-sex facilities on that first line obviously…

Mermaidparades · 27/04/2023 09:44

@Tinysoxx I’m so sorry how the current situation is affecting your daughter, of course it isn’t ok. But I also don’t think it’s ok for people like Suzy to be expected to stay at home, not showing their faces to society. Can there not be a third way?

Fizbosshoes · 27/04/2023 09:45

Eddie just wanted privacy and didn’t expect to find the girls there.

I'm pretty sure men's toilets usually have 1 cubicle (for going to the toilet with privacy)
I very much doubt he'd have found any teenage girls in there....

SmoothSeasDoNotMakeGoodSailors · 27/04/2023 09:47

NotTerfNorCis · 26/04/2023 22:25

It says in the first paragraph that Izzard is gender fluid, so why is the article so insistent on calling h** a woman? That's probably some kind of phobic.

Is Eddie genuinely gender fluid? Because it seems to be Eddie wants to be in boy mode only when there are more lucrative work opportunities.

The solution is surely that we all accept and are honest about biological reality (and biological women needing safe spaces) but also accept that people (male and female) can wear whatever they like

I have no issue with men wearing dresses and heels and make up. I just don't think that entitles them to impinge on my safe spaces.

I very rarely wear a dress or makeup. Does that make me less of woman? And if not, why does chucking on a dress and some lippy make someone with a penis a woman?

waterlego · 27/04/2023 09:51

@Theeyeballsinthesky, yes there are a number of comments like that on record and in his early videos which is why it’s so disingenuous when he now says (as he does in the article) that he’s always known he was trans and ‘came out’ in his 20s.

Of course Eddie doesn’t have to stay at home. But nor should he use toilets and facilities which are for women, because Eddie is not a woman.

BIWI · 27/04/2023 09:52

Someone’s true self should be celebrated

WTAF does that even mean?

Think! Engage your brain! It's silly saying that you can't comment on something because you weren't there.

I don't know if Eddie is using women's toilets now but I expect, given that he presented himself as the victim when he was the victimised, that he'd have no qualms in doing so. How many times would you allow him to intimidate women before you'd have empathy for them?

Who expects him to stay at home? I don't care what he wears and he can use the men's. Cos he's a man.

@literalviolence you’re right, I don’t get it and I hope I never will. Someone’s true self should be celebrated.

You don't really mean this, if you pause and think for a moment. What is a "true self"? Why are they all worthy of celebration? Why does "celebration" mean "allow the use of single sex facilities that they aren't of the correct sex for"?

I can think of many people whose self, whether "true" or not, is most definitely not worthy of celebration.
