Every single country has its own specific context and issues, you have to understand that?

It seems a certain sector of GB feminism got them selves tied up in knots over trans people because they were like "okay well we achieved xyz now what", completely ignoring that NI was entirely left behind by UK abortion provision and other issues

That is a total misrepresentation.

Whether you live in N.Ireland or on mainland Britain it makes no difference to your integrity as a woman.

What has abortion access got to do with protecting women's single sex spaces? ( though where I live in liverpool women have been travelling from Ireland for decades in order to access abortion).

Brackenfield · 17/04/2023 10:52

PosieParker or whatever her pseudonym is not from NI. Have a read of the history of feminism on the island of Ireland, it's historically been trans inclusive, we are importing non issues from GB and the US

So you don’t think NI women should be allowed to speak out about their issues?

NotHavingIt · 17/04/2023 10:58

Brackenfield · 17/04/2023 10:51

This is my point. You profess to care about the rights of NI women, where were you when Edwin Poots and his colleagues were withholding life saving helathcare for women?

I suggest you read up on the women that have died as a result of Irelands lack of abortion care, many of the women who desperately wanted children

You assume that women in England don't know about and understand women's issues as they relate to unwanted pregnancy? Stiill not sure what that has to do with protecting women;'s single sex spaces and integrity as a distinct class of human beings?

Signalbox · 17/04/2023 11:02

Brackenfield · 17/04/2023 09:17

Were they in Belfast?

Hard to tell which reprobates were present in Belfast since many of them were masked up. Presumably there is a reason why they didn't want to show their faces and I doubt it is because they are fearful of a bunch of women. More likely they were keen to give KJK a "New Zealand welcome" and they didn't want any evidence linking them to this event.

AlisonDonut · 17/04/2023 11:04

Brackenfield · 17/04/2023 08:43

Even fascists and racists? Yikes. Critical thinking is key to being a feminist not just cosying up with every bigot going.

Can you define 'cosying up'? I saw no sofa there.

She held the event for women from Ireland to speak. That includes you if you're a woman in Ireland. Why is that a problem for you?

RudsyFarmer · 17/04/2023 11:06

raspberrywine · 16/04/2023 08:41

Saying let's give a big NZ welcome" can pass as a joke.

Not when it's accompanied by a pic of KJK being led out by the police after she was assaulted. Clear incitement to violence. Everyone who knows what happened in NZ knows exactly what this tweet means.

And the arrogance of SW to tell people to retweet it.

I’m only part of the way through this thread but just thought I’d add; Posie wasn’t led out by police because they refused to attend. It was her security team, hence why it was even more dangerous and she genuinely feared for her life.

AlisonDonut · 17/04/2023 11:12

MishyJDI · 17/04/2023 10:53

Like the actual Nazis that turned up to Posie Parker's Melbourne demonstration and made clear they were there to support her?

I think I'll take the side of empathy for people who are human beings, over that of hate and fear.

The more KJK goes extreme, the more the real agenda underneath is revealed.

What was it she said yesterday? That the whole LGBT community is just men in dresses? That is ridiculous as a proposition.

Weren't the nazis there with the police? Almost like some sort of staged intervention? Surely if they were actual nazis, the antifa would have clashed with them? Rather than just let them waltz by.

KJK's extremism seems to be 'women don't have penises'. When you pretend that this is extremism, you let actual extremists through the front door you plum.

Well, obviously,

But do 80% ish of NI women become mothers or not? That was my question.

Probably, if not higher? I'm not that's relevant though? Plenty of people who want to mothers also need reproductive helathcare and equal marriage?

And for people worried that the alternative is being a wage slave, Irish feminism has always been anti capitalist as well.

Please look up at which event the mainstream NI women's charities and organisations attended. Not trans rights activists or whatever you have an issue with, the bog standard, middle of the road women's organisations...

Alot less women will be mothers if this generation of teens have alot less wombs in which to gestate babies. You'd think someone who is concerned with women's rights would be able to work that out.

PSNI were definitely at the event. It was the Dublin event cancelled due to lack of policing.

If you're a single issue feminist you're not a good feminist.

As an aside I'd love ANY public toilets in my local area, never mind who is using them with what genitals or whatever PPs drama is. It's a total kin issue.

Dunno if you know this, but you are posting on a website called Mumsnet.

Let me get that right, removing the wombs of teen girls is a good thing as it will reduce the birth rate?

Wow. I've seen some vile stuff from TRAs but I can now see why the Greens are for this agenda.

You didn't answer my question. Why do you have a problem with an event which allows ordinary women from Ireland to speak? Do you not agree with women speaking about their lives and their rights? Why do you not want women to be allowed to speak?

Yeppp... Do you want pics of our kids now as proof well or?

You can be a mum and still campaign for women's rights.

Like many on this thread, I have no idea who this Jolene is (although I've now got a country song stuck in my head). Yet KJK is supposed to recognise her on sight? Ooookaaaaay...

I will repost here something I said on a different thread:

Yes, here we have the alleged racist and fascist "Nazi Barbie" Kellie-Jay Minshull... platforming, embracing, and supporting a Black woman as she testifies about her lived experience as female.

Even if that's correct that your feminism is "trans inclusive", you would also need to know the opinions of regular women and whether a substantial percentage of them happened to think that protecting single sex spaces is important.

It could be that your feminism isn't properly representative of women on the issues.

So this is polling from Ireland, not NI, but it looks like people actually care about this stuff!

https://thecountess.ie/first-irish-public-poll-on-gender-debate/

  • More than three-quarters of respondents (77%) agreed that people should have the right to request that intimate medical examinations are carried out by a person of the same birth sex.
  • 62% said public buildings such as schools and banks should have to provide single-sex toilets.
  • 64% agreed that hospitals should be required to provide single-sex wards.
  • 55% of respondents said males who identify as women should not be allowed to compete in women’s sports at any level, versus 21% in favour.

Irish Public Have Say in First Irish Gender Poll

Irish society has become more accepting of gender expression, but when it comes to the provision of intimate spaces and services, biological sex matters. The Countess last month commissioned the first…

Brackenfield given you do not support women in NI speaking out about issues that concern them I will not be taking any lessons from you.

Okay so how will your vision of single sex spaces work?

A trans man, gone through surgery, has a penis. They should use the women's spaces?

A butch presenting, cis lesbian, should they be afraid of using women's spaces because they might get questioned/harassed?

Do I need to ensure I'm presenting myself well enough as a woman each time I need to nip to the loo? Are jeans okay or should I stick to skirts?

If you're afraid of men being perverts/assaulting women under the guise of trans identifying and using women's spaces, that's an issue with MEN not trans women.

Yes, at an event where any woman can rock up and speak

we just do you want to silence the women of Northern Ireland @Brackenfield ?
