Do people with no hair usually carry hairspray incase others need it?

Seeing as though what I was reading went poof.

I think the way free speech is going on matters on fundamental importance to women - means we need a new women’s forum.

We absolutely do need a forum where women are actually allowed to speak and allowed to state what a woman is without the disgusting censorship we have all seen on this thread. A lot more than "some" women have been outraged at being silenced. That just minimises the lived experience of women who are seeing these terrifying infringements on their sex and on their safe spaces. Our very identity as women is being eroded purely to appease men and we should all be taking a stand. If we aren't even being allowed to have a frank discussion about this without being shut down and deleted then I am genuinely scared about where this is all going. We aren't even being allowed to state the very basics of what a biological woman and man are...that's how bad this has become. MN need to have a really close look at themselves and reflect on the profound offence and upset this has caused to the women on this board. We deserve safe spaces for women and girls and I have had to seriously consider whether MN is still a safe space if continues to be complicit in silencing us.

Some means an unspecified number or amount

can cover 2, 10, 1000 or indeed a shitload

i even agreed that it covered a shitload 🤷🏻

nice cropping there though…kudos

gonna have to hide the thread though 😀 i find it much too tempting to reply

Yeah, better to hide it than to continue to post nonsense about only some women having been upset about being silenced (over biological reality) compared to lots who have thanked MN.

Saw this on social media today and thought it was an interesting take.

SmartHome · 09/04/2023 11:54

I thoughy he was just a grifter right up until the facial feminisation surgery, though that could have all been faked I suppose as there's very little discernible difference.

Has made $1.5 million in a year from paid endorsements, nearly all taking the piss out of females.

CaptainWarbeck · 09/04/2023 11:56

Apparently Dylan came out as gay, then non binary, then started transitioning.

Actually youre right there

i should have used lots/some for both

Is this perhaps a well-meaning attempt to be helpful by someone with no lived experience?

Logically, menstruating women would just ask other women in the toilets if they had a spare tampon or sanitary towel. So having one to offer seems like a kind gesture.

In real life though, no one ever asks for one.

Women will shout over cubicles, 'Does anyone have any spare loo roll where they are?' if they've inadvertently rushed into a toilet without any. That's about it.

If women start bleeding unexpectedly, they wad up a bunch of toilet roll to create a makeshift barrier and then depending on how heavily they're menstruating, they find themselves some sanitary protection pronto. I guess that's not something you would really anticipate unless you had at one point in your life had periods.

I don't know why we don't ask. But we don't.

The chances of another woman carrying some on any given day are low.

You have post menopausal women
Pregnant women
Mirena women

That leaves a fair swathe out
Of those left, let's say a 5 day cycle every 4 weeks to be generous that's like 1/6 of the time

So you have a like 10% chance maybe that someone carries San pro thay day. All San Pro. If they only have mini tampax and you're on a 'rivers of blood' day it ain't gonna help. So even less. Dylan didn't do the maths

FictionalCharacter · 09/04/2023 12:08

@intotalfreefall Have you seen any of the interviews with DM or seen his videos? This is absolutely not a well meaning attempt to be helpful. DM makes videos where he is giddy with excitement about unwrapping tampons and being fascinated about what they do. He’s not the only “tw” with this unhealthy interest.

DM has no interest in being helpful to women. His entire focus is on self promotion.

GreyfriarsBobbie · 09/04/2023 12:23

Why does Dylan think women are going to ask a man for a tampon?

most women wouldn’t ask female strangers for sanitary protection - we just wrap bog roll round the crotch of our knickers.

this fantasy seems to be a “thing” with some men. I find it perverted and patronising. I really wouldn’t want to share a single sex facility with a creep who gets his rocks off fantasising about handing out tampons to women

turbonerd · 09/04/2023 12:32

For the poster who wanted unscented products there is a Swedish Brand called NatraCare.
It is a tad expensive but excellent.
It used to be sold in London and Brighton, and certainly online if you are able to buy in (small) bulk.

HungryMum101 · 09/04/2023 12:57

@SapphosRock - interesting take.

There was a clumsiness to the beer ad, not comedic enough to be genuinely funny. DM in the style of Audrey Hepburn would not be struggling to open their own can with gloved hands, nor pouring her own drink, nor drinking from the can! 😂

With the Nike advert, It seems a strange choice of model when there are LGBTQ+ athletes who have already done much for their sport and could really use a contract from Nike.

Indeed, I use Natracare myself, you can buy them on Amazon. But they’re expensive and not everyone can afford organic cotton pads. And why should they have to just to avoid scent?

They’ve got all their sponsors/advertisers to keep happy. We just need a board where corporate interests don’t impact moderation.

If MN is not a place where we can discuss the greatest erosion of women’s rights in our lifetime - (not just the deletion of women and women’s spaces but also the loss of abortion rights) then it loses its point. Are we just here to discuss nappies?

I agree.
But if enough women demand unscented the companies may take notice.

I didn’t realise before because I live in my own bubble, but I have learned that girls and women are told their natural smell smells bad. Apparently men say it smells like fish/shrimp.

My DH tried to be silly once and that’s how I found out. Like men’s genitals don’t have a distinct smell 🙄

Fucking arses, pressuring girls and women to choose sanpro that are detrimental to their own health.

on a side note; I Wonder if D M and the other TWs will take up that cause?
one zillion quid says they wont.

oakleaffy · 09/04/2023 14:19

A TW visited a Women Only session where periods , menopause and endometriosis was discussed.
The TW said they “ Have their period every three days “.

How can a TW have periods?
it makes an utter mockery of women’s issues.

Nothing is ours anymore.
TW will NEVER know the pain and worry of periods or menopause or endometriosis.

Voyeuristic in the extreme.

Absolutely agree..you have to ask what the point of MN is if the incredibly heavy moderation to appease sponsors and the TRA is more important to them than actually supporting and enabling women to have a safe space for discussion of some really important issues without being censored. Women should be allowed to speak and at the moment our voices are being increasingly restricted to keep men happy.

SiobhanSharpe · 09/04/2023 14:57

In the photos of Dylan posing in female athletic gear for Nike it is immediately very obvious this is a male person. Are we supposed to ignore the evidence of our own eyes?
Bad enough to be gaslit by Nike, but so much worse to have Mumsnet collude in it.

Misstache · 09/04/2023 14:59

Dylan isn’t well-intentioned at all. The whole “thing” is to be provocative and then play innocent victim when people respond, using false positivity to make veiled threats. Dylan told women who were grossed out by his obsession with tampons to watch what they say because Dylan would “hate” for those tweets to come back and ruin peoples lives. Dylan is chilling in the way Dylan uses toxic positivity to bully people.

This is what Dylan does all the time - act offensively and then when women point that out, it’s all how Dylan is sweet, and positive, and “loves ya” and how could anyone pick on poor Dylan. In fact, there’s a well-worn model for this behaviour which is usually called being a Karen when real women do it - using fake tears, and claims to victimhood to threaten and cause harm to others - but when Dylan does it no one points that out.

Misstache · 09/04/2023 15:07

And the issue with Dylan getting a Nike endorsement isn’t that Dylan is Trans - if a Trans athlete or fitness influencer or someone who works out a lot was endorsing l wouldn’t care. Trans people need workout clothes too. The issue is that Dylan performs the most offensive stereotypes of womanhood - hiking in heels and screaming and flailing at a bug, skipping maniacally around a garden - that play into the idea that sports are for men and women aren’t real athletes because we might break a nail or mess up our makeup. Dylan has actual training as a dancer, so this grotesque skipping is a show being put on that supposedly embodies womanhood when we can see perfectly respectable videos of tap dancing when Dylan isn’t skipping around like a fool. Dylan literally makes money off the very stereotypes that hold women back from sports and working out and then gets an endorsement for workout gear while representing to Dylan’s young fans that girls don’t lift weights or sweat or get muscles or work hard.

Honestly, I can't say I'd come across her before.

I did find the promo helpful though. As a top-heavy woman, I need a sports bra with heavy duty engineering. I don't know whether DM has had top surgery yet or is stuffing, but she clearly doesn't need a supportive bra. The promo has shown me that Nike is wholly unsuitable for my needs.

Having looked up the bra on Nike's website, it is exactly as I thought - a stupid crop top designed on the assumption that the big cup size you are, the fatter you are. I assume it was designed by a man who doesn't realise that tiny women have have huge breasts and fat women can have tiny breasts.

I guess I was never in Nike's target audience - given the way they've sized this so-called bra, maybe it is aimed at trans women. In which case, they've picked the perfect model, no?

The DM Nike ad manifests being transgender as a little boy locked in somewhere at about the mental age of 4, imitating his mum doing exercises during lockdown.

Treaclemine · 09/04/2023 15:39

I had a thought on coming across the yesterday, and was interested when my male friend had the same thought, unprompted. Why on earth put an item of uncertain provenance from a random weirdo into your body? We covered drugs, infections, and semen in the conversation.
Is DM stupid?

DarkDayforMN · 09/04/2023 15:52

I think too that the marketing departments are run by younger generations who don’t realise or care what the stakes are.

But Nike are essentially a marketing company with a sideline in shoes. They really should have known better - I assume they knew it would be controversial but weren't expecting it to blow up like this.
