Do you know what Nike? Forget about “just do it”, as far as I am concerned you can just do one.

One big change I've seen in the past decade or so is that women who act are now called actors, not actresses.

Not Dylan. Looking at Dylan's wikipedia page, "is an American actress...." It really sums it all up for me. Women have been fighting for decades to be taken seriously and not be stereotyped by our sex. Dylan? All about the stereotypes.

He. Is. An. Actor.

It's literally what he does.

Why do people think he is 'trans'?

But but but, men are what they say they are.

Do we still have acceptance without exception?

Thanks for that. I was wondering what was wrong with my thread, I didn't think anything was wrong. It was just questioning why Nike would chose a man to promote a woman's sports bra.

Most odd. Women are being silenced/cancelled and men are being used for all things women all the time.

You can’t say a person with a penis is a man or a he if they want to be called them a woman.

Woman = person who wants to be called a woman now. Words used to mean things. No more!

AliceOlive · 08/04/2023 21:55

Not sure why I put that extra “them” in there but sometimes you gotta call a person that, too.

Why can't I?

Serious question but who decided that man/ woman is a feeling and not something objective

I'd like to define women as as sex class

Why is my definition wrong?

Not sure who decided this, but that’s why our posts got deleted.

I agree with your definition.

Because Judith Butler says so. Get with the programme.

Seems to me that is actually happening. The koolaid gang have massively overplayed their hand and now look like tin foil hat nutters (which they always were anyway)

I wish Nike would make an ad with Dylan. It could be called Day 10,000 of being a girl and feature a day in the life of actual woman athletes waking up to train at 4am, training while being pregnant and breastfeeding, killing it in the gym and going to care for an elderly parent, running to work, training on lunch hour and going into court/surgery/class/construction site, showing women sweating with no makeup, with bruises and athletic tape - and then show Dylan in his hiking heels skipping around the garden on day 400 of girlhood. I think that would make a powerful point actually!

"Executives at companies like Nike, Anheuser-Busch and Kate Spade, whose brand endorsements have turned controversial trans influencer Dylan Mulvaney into today’s woke “It girl,” aren’t just virtue signaling.
They’re handing out lucrative deals to what were once considered fringe celebrities because they have to — or risk failing an all-important social credit score that could make or break their businesses.
At stake is their Corporate Equality Index — or CEI — score, which is overseen by the Human Rights Campaign, the largest LGBTQ+ political lobbying group in the world.
HRC, which has received millions from George Soros’ Open Society Foundation among others, issues report cards for America’s biggest corporations via the CEI: awarding or subtracting points for how well companies adhere to what HRC calls its “rating criteria.”
Businesses that attain the maximum 100 total points earn the coveted title “Best Place To Work For LGBTQ Equality.” Fifteen of the top 20 Fortune-ranked companies received 100% ratings last year, according to HRC data.
More than 840 US companies racked up high CEI scores, according to the latest report."

I would ask ‘when will it stop’ but it will be a long time yet.

The thing is, every opportunity Mulvaney takes from a female model / athlete / influencer / activist, the push back grows. And among the age group that people love to tell us is more ‘accepting’ while reminding us we are going to die out soon.

I keep wondering if Dylan is on one massive trolling exercise and now he's got past the 365 days of 'girlhood' he's going to do a big reveal about how it was actually all a trick to see how far he could push the media and companies into endorsing him.

But I won't hold my breath.

Not while the money and notoriety keeps building. My bestie sent me this link yesterday, which seems to explain it nypost.com/2023/04/07/inside-the-woke-scoring-system-guiding-american-companies/amp/?fbclid=IwAR062xZtZ4LbwAyZkhd1P3Py6gSuWLh2yAOwHos5EQhGfQiMP35Pxtjm4gw

She has no boobs, hips, periods or menopause to deal with.
She doesn’t have a belly after pregnancy or overhang after a C-section. She doesn’t have years of being harassed in the street by boys and men for simply being a woman/girl exercising. She hasn’t been mocked for being too fat to too thin by men and boys. No one has written articles or comment on her bingo wing arms. She hasn’t got varicose veins from pregnancy which people comment on or have left her embarrassed.
But apart from that - excellent choice.

He.

For me as an observer who got peaked last year, I'm trying to get perspective. I truly feel that GCs and the moderately skeptical public at large were behind the curve, even 6 months ago.

But laser cut thru in examples like Sturgeon/double rapist etc, has broken the spell. Where even a year ago, Nike might have got away with this BS, it won't stand this year.

I believe the law is closing in on an unambiguous GC position, and with announcements like the IOC policy on excluding TWs in female sport, TRA is being squeezed.

This will play out over the next 12-18 months.

Around this, and for maybe 2-3 more years, the frothy end of the phenomenon will remain active and irritating...the Dylan Mulvaneys, and Sam Smiths, and Suzeeee Eddeeee Izaaaards of this world etc will continue to peak us on social media.

But it's what I call "surface phenomena", over visible icons of the age and movement, with zero depth and meaning.

I mean look at Sam Smith (yes, I know you'd rather not, lol), beyond his 48 hrs of fame recently, he's frothed and evaporated from view. And DM will too, in time.

What's critical is that we all pay attention, we all stay cool, and we all act with our wallets.

Words may never hurt Nike, but sticks and stones will.

Ther are, of course, a lot of people, especially younger people who have become caught up in it all. Who have believed they can change sex and who have been enabled, and even encouraged, by responsible adults, parents and society at large. Many have taken hormones which will have lasting and irreversible impacts and others have had surgery to remove or modify healthy body parts. The ideology has been embedded in a generation or even two.

For that reason it is going to take as long again to unpick.

RealityFan · 09/04/2023 10:20

It is fascinating that what used to be companies in the past keeping a majority of customers happy eg L'Oréal offering 101 hair colours, and letting down a minority eg no products for black women's hair...have now mutated to keeping a minority of customers happy eg Nike sucking up to trans with DM campaign, and letting down the majority eg snubbing their noses at female and GC male customers.

Have you seen the advert too? A scrawny bloke with, of course, zero breast tissue doing some pathetic prancing around in an insulting parody of what it is to be female. Can you imagine how it would be received if, instead of insulting women, he was insulting people of another race, or a different religion? There would be uproar. But taking the piss out of half the world' population - oh it's only women so crack on.

Nike clearly think they're such a huge, wealthy company that she can pull this shit and it won't hurt their bottom line. I hope women all over the world boycott them. I shall.

👏 agree

Apologies, haven't read the full thread.

The only people I can see who will benefit from this endorsement are DM himself (£££ and exposure) and all the pervs out there who like to see women's clothing on little girl's bodies (as DM has the body shape and behaviours of an 8 yr old girl).

Quite sickening really.

This is scary and makes more sense now.

US feels like it’s under attack on multiple levels.

He has a clearly visible penis and has the body of a scrawny man. I certainly didn't behave like him when I was 8 either and haven't seen much evidence that other 8 year old girls behave like him.

That makes so much sense - it's the international equivalent of the Stonewall index.

I just had two friends “like” the post of a drag Queen doing story time. They know the person.

It’s really bizarre. Neither have children, but how can anyone not see what’s going on here?

thedancingbear · 09/04/2023 13:45

I suppose a problem with boycotting Nike is that it’s a big employer of women and girls, many of them kids, mainly in the developing world.

It seems fine to make a statement (and I agree that the ad is crass - I didn’t believe it was real at first). I do think the repercussions of a campaign that actually harmed the Nike business would be complex.
