[RNZ] Spike in online hate toward trans community after Posie Parker visit - researchers

For those who aren’t familiar with the New Zealand media landscape, RNZ is the equivalent of the BBC. It’s a state funded public service broadcaster.

There is an interesting article on RNZ today about the real and measurable effects that ideologues like Posie Parker have on creating and intensifying hatred towards marginalised groups.

Spike in online hate toward trans community after Posie Parker visit - researchers

Analysts monitoring online extremism say the anti-trans rights activist's visit sparked a massive increase in the level of online hatred directed at the trans community.

The thing is 'hate' and 'anti trans' and 'transphobic' has been redefined to mean Mummy / women saying 'no'.

So frankly I just don't believe these stories anymore.

KJK was originally interviewed for a potential 'hate crime' for describing accurately albeit in blunt language what Susie Green did to her son.

The only physical violence and real hate is from the other side.

People have eyes and can watch the footage themselves. I suspect what is dressed up as 'hate' is the grown ups waking up and saying 'no you can't have all the toys all of the time because that's not fair'.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 11/04/2023 13:42

I don’t think it is hate so much as contempt

Absolutely. "Hate speech" seems to be defined as "Anything I hear that I don't like". See also: "Literal violence", because I've never seen anyone clarify what violence trans people are at risk of as a result of comments they don't like, unless you count suicide risk (in which case they should be receiving some sort of psychiatric treatment) or the old chestnut of "You're trying to erase us" which, as you say, is a tantrum-style reaction to someone being told that they can't just do as they please.

That which people hate to hear spoken and that which meets the legal definition of hate speech can be two completely different things.

or the old chestnut of "You're trying to erase us"

Isn't this what Gender Critical people say to transpeople? And isn't this the reason the LGB-Alliance give to justify existing?

If biological women started identifying as transwomen and taking parts playing transwomen in films and TV do you think that would be acceptable?

Feel free to exist just use your own spaces not those of women

forgotmyusername1 · 11/04/2023 16:38

what would happen if people started pouring tomato soup on the heads of trans people at rallies, beating them up or holding them hostage for 3 hours?

forsucksfake · 11/04/2023 05:07

Online hate:
No.
Men are not women.
LOL.
Male violence is male violence no matter what it wears.
Stop appropriating specious "intersex" identities.
I disagree with you.
That's a man.
He.
Him.

Yep and you can’t change sex

And women deserve their own spaces

versus

Decapitate them, turd, assault, punching, hostage, rape threats, death threats

Tough one whoever can be the more violent

Accusations of genocide if the current narrative is anything to go by.

Lol, telling men they're not lesbians, isn't erasing them. Dearie me.

PorcelinaV · 11/04/2023 22:48

Did KJK actually call for anyone to be abusive or threatening? Probably not right?

I guess you could argue that she was unfairly demonising people, and so still responsible on some level, but that would need examples of her rhetoric and an explanation as to why she crossed the line. (Which is somewhat subjective and people are going to disagree over to some extent.)

As people have mentioned, you have to factor in the media rhetoric, the trans-activist rhetoric, the trans-activist behaviour, and what part that may play in raising the temperature and helping to encourage unacceptable bad behaviour.

Doesn't Stonewall replacing "same-sex" orientation with " same-gender" orientation erase the whole concept of homosexuality?

Gender identity ideology is as homophobic and misogynist as the USA's most right-wing Christian fundamentalist nutcases. By no coincidence at all, both have burned books written by the same author...

Transpeople existing isn't going to "erase" women. Women, or any other group, don't magically disappear if someone changes sex. That isn't how physics works.

I'm not following.

From what I've seen the right-wing Christians tend to be on the Gender Critical side?

When the leader of the opposition refuses to define what a woman even is and women are being attacked and getting broken skulls for saying it's an adult human female, the very concept of womanhood has become taboo.

If the MoJ, for instance, hadn't erased the concept of women, they wouldn't be able to provided convicted male rapists with incarcerated women as part of their sentence.

We're still here, but we're unable to be defined.

It's not physics, it's linguistics. Same result tho.

No. Right wing Christians aren't gender critical.

Gender critical means critical of damaging gender stereotypes, historically used to oppress women.

I want to see proof that a human has ever changed their sex. Because that"s not how biology works.*

*I did enjoy Orlando, though.

SueVineer · 12/04/2023 02:09

I think that someone not going along with their delusions is all they have to worry about though. Whereas women got punched in the face and violently attacked.

How disingenuous can you get?

FFS. You are discussing a language issue by handwaving away ‘physics’? And shouldn’t this be a discussion about the relevant science…. Biology?

Gosh… even you can do better than that. We haven’t made it into the Star Trek era yet where we can change cells at atomic level into a different state for reassembly!

And this is what happens as you’ve been told about using dehumanizing language.

in your and twitter trans activisms mind, ‘gender critical feminist’ was detached from the feminist part of the phrase to be wrongly applied as per will. The trans activists wanted to create alignments when the reality is, it is merely a universal understanding of biology and a resistance to having another’s wishes of reality being made into law that is the commonality. And that is common with the vast majority of the world.

Because ‘right wing Christians’ are not ‘critical of gender’. I believe that many embrace gender stereotypes.

But crack on using imprecise language to try to convince others to reject a universal belief that no one can change sex using fear of guilt by association.

We could also talk about vegetarians and who else in history was vegetarian and see how that analogy shows what you are attempting to do is ridiculous.

Else, we could flip the discussion to point out the very real backgrounds of those spokespeople of the LGBT community and what they have actually said and done. Highlighting their very real beliefs.

You are clearly struggling with the difference between the concept of women and women as human individuals.

you also seem to be struggling with what gender critical means. The right wing fundamentalist Christian conservatives you are so keen to bring up tend to be anything but gender critical.

To be fair if a person did manage to change sex, it’d probably be the start Of Armageddon and we’ll all be erased. Humans can’t change sex, so one managing it would be s miracle of epically biblical proportions, such as the ones suggested to signal the end of days.
