I don't want to link to the article (DM) or write this person's name as I'm sure they're keeping an eye everywhere.

Basically there's a case reported in the U.K. family courts with someone who kept male genitalia and had surgery to create a "fully functioning" cavity. Person wants to legally be recognised as non binary because they feel a bit male and a bit female.

I'd like to know if this person can define what "woman feelings" are and how they're different from "man feelings". I'd also like to be reassured that this person isn't bringing a transphobic case by reducing identity to genitals.

And I'd like to know why this even ended up in court in the first place. If I feel a little bit cat-like and get one surgically altered to be like a fully functioning cat ear, or get my fingers amputated on one hand to make it like a "fully functioning" paw, can I be legally recognised by my new semi-feline gender?

How is the "cavity" fully functioning? Is it meant to be a vagina?

Well, you know how men loves holes. They just want a nice open cavity to ram penis in.

yetanotherusernameAgain · 01/04/2023 10:15

Yes, it's the same person.

"Legal construction" probably means that their legal documents (Californian birth certificate, US(?) passport) state a category not provided in UK law. So it's an interesting legal tangle on how to square that circle.

Of course the obvious answer is to reiterate that the category records sex (of which there are two) and not gender (of which there are an unquantifiable amount).

MenopauseSucks · 01/04/2023 10:23

Is there really enough space between the testes & anus to put a hole?

I've just googled the male perineum - fascinating diagrams - and some of the older ones mention an 'internal penis' that plays part of the perineum.

Apologies for the diagram that I'm attaching - from the National Institute of Diabetes & Digestive & Kidney Disease - but I fail to see how a hole can be created whilst there is still a penis?

I suspect he's talking a load of bollocks & if there's ever a case for genital inspection, it's now... It appears to be a medical miracle!

Working in geriatric care will be hell in years to come @Helleofabore
People with sagging bits of silicone in various areas, festering old wounds, fetishists demanding that their personal care includes regular dilations, people with dementia who have forgotten they changed sex and are even more confused, rampant incontinence due to all the failed genital surgeries and even more osteoporosis from all the poor young women who went through menopause before they'd even gone through puberty.

Glad I won't be around for it.

Yeah, but they are living their best authentic life! I'm sure their euphoria will see them through to their incontinent senile 80s.

Kernackered · 01/04/2023 09:46

Surely if he wanted to both keep his prick AND have a fully functioning hole, they could have just pointed out his arsehole?

😂

MenopauseSucks · 01/04/2023 10:27

Again I apologise for the picture & I hope I haven't offended anyone but I find this fascinating.

And why the hell are the legal system taking this seriously??

FrancescaContini · 01/04/2023 10:29

What?? Why has a surgeon indulged this? It smacks of serious self harm / fetish about being a blow-up “sex doll”.

I'm a bit sad that some people just think my vagina is a cavity!

FannyCann · 01/04/2023 10:49

And why the hell are the legal system taking this seriously??

And we, the British taxpayer end up paying for huge chunks of court time, let alone if he actually succeeds in forcing the UK government to change established legislation🙄

He's got a crowdfunder you say? Meanwhile who is supporting his legal fees to date?

In a week when Helen Webberly has won her appeal I feel anxious about these judges who have been rainbow washed by stonewall.

FrancescaContini · 01/04/2023 10:52

I don’t see how the legal system can take this seriously. A certain T person failed In attempts to be named as the “father” on her child’s birth certificate. Quite rightly.

It's all about them, isn't it? Not a single thought for their child who would then officially have no mother. So arrogant, considering that neither the mother nor the father nor any other adult is the subject of, and reason for, a birth certificate.

Anybody questioning it, asking "But who gave birth to you?" and being told by a very confused child "My dad (but not that dad)" - some people just seem incapable of thinking of anybody else at all, as long as they can centre themselves in everything, it's all just grand.

Elaine Miller talks on YouTube on various occasions about the difference between elderly/dementia residents who are gay vs trans and it is deeply saddening.

ReunitedThorns · 01/04/2023 11:43

It's April Fool's Day today, unfortunately most trans stories like this, no matter how ridiculous they seem aren't a joke.

Due to these awful procedures the vast majority of them won't make it to needing geriatric care 😔

Interesting I'd never thought of that

thegrain · 01/04/2023 12:51

If someone who was identified as male and then decides to be a woman has dementia and forgets they've decided to be a woman and ends up in a care home do the staff have to treat them as a woman anyway? Otherwise they'd be calling them the wrong name etc.

I've got approx another 20 yrs in nursing before I retire.
I'm a dementia nurse and this post describes all my fears for the future.

Madamecastafiore · 01/04/2023 13:31

Fully functioning cavity 🙄. Does he have the ability to push a baby out of that cavity or is he just the proud owner of another hole?

I believe there are papers out there saying how the person with dementia gets confused about wearing wrong sex clothes and can become angry/frustrated when they are "misgendered" - that is treated as per the gender they had chosen before they developed dementia rather than their birth sex.
Iirc I think that might be something Elaine Miller discusses.

FannyCann · 01/04/2023 13:37

Hard luck @cheshirecatssmile but 20 years might just be ahead of the curve for many transitioners.

TheSandgroper · 01/04/2023 13:38

Further to my post above, Elaine Miller talks of gay residents always knowing they are gay.

Then come trans residents.

  • “Why are you calling me John? My name is Mary”. Because your Gender Recognition Certificate says your name is John and that’s what the law says we must call you.
  • “Why do you keep dressing me in jeans and trousers? Where are all my dresses?”
I paraphrase but Elaine speaks of good, patient centred care vs ticking legal boxes.
thegrain · 01/04/2023 13:41

I'm going to check out Elaine Miller. It's something I hadn't thought of before. Thanks all. Very interesting.

"Fully functioning" presumably means a penis can be pushed in.

Because a vagina has no other purpose.

Obviously. 😐

I really thought this case was an April Fool's this morning when I first read about it.

I reckon the judge will rule in they's favour, pushing it in the government to appeal and another judge to hear the appeal? Although. I seem to remember that in family courts it's the same judge for appeals? Or have I misremembered that?
