I don't want to link to the article (DM) or write this person's name as I'm sure they're keeping an eye everywhere.

Basically there's a case reported in the U.K. family courts with someone who kept male genitalia and had surgery to create a "fully functioning" cavity. Person wants to legally be recognised as non binary because they feel a bit male and a bit female.

I'd like to know if this person can define what "woman feelings" are and how they're different from "man feelings". I'd also like to be reassured that this person isn't bringing a transphobic case by reducing identity to genitals.

And I'd like to know why this even ended up in court in the first place. If I feel a little bit cat-like and get one surgically altered to be like a fully functioning cat ear, or get my fingers amputated on one hand to make it like a "fully functioning" paw, can I be legally recognised by my new semi-feline gender?

What a waste of time, money and resources to stroke a person's ego.

IncompleteSenten · 01/04/2023 07:53

Good lord. Why is this bullshit being indulged?

CollieFIower · 01/04/2023 07:54

Fully functioning Hmm

Freddiefan · 01/04/2023 07:56

I hope that the NHS didn't fund this.

Helleofabore · 01/04/2023 08:02

So the ‘woman’ bit is a ‘fuckable hole’.

And they say that that movement is not based on misogyny. All those supporting the prioritisation of gender above sex - can you see it yet? Can you see the end goals of what you are supporting yet?

WarningToTheCurious · 01/04/2023 08:03

'It is striking and profoundly upsetting that I do not know how my gender would be recorded on my death certificate.'

Fortunately your ability to be ‘profoundly upset’ will immediately cease the moment it needs to be issued.

FourTeaFallOut · 01/04/2023 08:04

A fully functioning hole? Hmmm.

yetanotherusernameAgain · 01/04/2023 08:05

Surgery doesn't really seem relevant - it's someone who wants non-binary adopted as an official category alongside male and female.

I wonder why it's in the Family Court. And if the reporting restrictions on Family Court cases hadn't been changed recently, would this case have happened under the radar?

OutsideitsAmerica · 01/04/2023 08:09

What does it take for a ‘hole’ to be ‘fully functioning’? And how does a hole designate ‘femaleness’?

xabia · 01/04/2023 08:12

I can't believe a surgeon would commit this atrocity. Creating a wound that will probably need regular dilation with the possibility of infections/sepsis.

WarningToTheCurious · 01/04/2023 08:13

Their crowd funder states:

The UK government claims that, by law, a person's legal sex must be either male or female. This is not supported by biology nor the lived experiences of non-binary people

I wonder what other sexes there are if biology doesn’t support that you must be either male or female?

Apparently this individual was offered the option of “not specified” rather than “non binary” on the GRC, but seemingly that’s not enough.

Maybe this might just tip the GRA over the edge and the whole thing can be done away with.

xabia · 01/04/2023 08:13

Without removing male genitalia...

OutsideitsAmerica · 01/04/2023 08:14

Hole: ‘A hollow space in a solid body or surface’.

And a great name for a band.

This is one of those ‘cases’ that will cause heat AND light. Bring it on.

aweegc · 01/04/2023 08:16

I think it's relevant here in the way that getting your cock and balls amputated and a cavity created is seen as the ultimate step in "becoming a woman". This person has taken the ultimate step in "being" both male and female by having both genitalia - well having one and a representation of the other.

Did that other woman try and fail a couple of years ago to get her on binary identity recognised via the high court and European court of human rights? Shaved head.

Helleofabore · 01/04/2023 08:21

And who the fuck should have their ‘gender’ recorded when they die. Sex. As per unchangeable fact. Now if they demanded an additional gender field added for options, fine. I suspect in the distant future that people will not give a damn about that because there will be either a gazillion genders and it will be deemed as irrelevant to be on a death certificate or there will be no genders and it will be seen as an archaic trend that will be deemed as irrelevant to be on a death certificate.

Either way, it has yet to be proven that gender is unchanged during a lifetime, and proven as being important enough to be used as identification on a death certificate.

yetanotherusernameAgain · 01/04/2023 08:23

Actually I've now read their CrowdJustice page and they wants a Gender Reassignment Certificate issued for the category of non-binary.

Interesting implications if they were to win, as official forms only have male/female options. Would the govt have to introduce a third category when collecting data or would it just appear on the GRC with no further legal weight? Didn't someone bring a similar case about getting NB on their passport? Which failed.

Haven't raised much at the moment (aiming for £100k) but maybe that will pick up with the publicity.

AlliwantforChristmasisgu · 01/04/2023 08:27

Given the date, I wondered if this might be an April Fool. I am still unsure, but the crowdfunder pre dates 1 April so maybe not.

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 01/04/2023 08:30

officialdom just needs to put its big girl pants on and start saying no to these whack jobs

how you feel inside and the surgery you've had are interesting to you but completely irrelevant to your sex

the end

Yes.

This case is different though as it involves the UK recognising someone having changed their gender under the law of an approved country or territory outside the UK.

Since this claim was issued Kemi Badenoch made a written ministerial statement setting out the Government’s plans to update the list of approved countries and territories under the GRA, and it is expected that this would end reciprocal recognition for trans people from most territories in the US, and countries such as Canada and New Zealand.

highame · 01/04/2023 08:34

I wonder why it's in the Family Court. Interesting because this is the court the Fox Killer used to get 1 trans child medication when the courts had ruled on Gillick competence. Are they trying the first step process to then go to other courts? I believe Family court decisions are non binding on other courts but whether they can be taken into consideration is another matter. The Judge in the Fox Killer case made it very clear that his decision in no way could be used in other cases.

yetanotherusernameAgain · 01/04/2023 08:40

I see there's more info in the About section of the crowd funder.

Apparently it's legally complicated and not obvious which court it should be heard in, so they've applied to three courts.

And yes, it seems to be about whether someone legally recognised as a third option in a foreign country should be recognised as that option when in the UK.

As usual, conflating male/female used to describe sex with male/female used to describe gender. Not helped by the fact the GRA uses the word gender.

hamstersarse · 01/04/2023 08:42

The narcissism has now spread to after death it’s unfathomably ego centric

I’m imagining their funeral and all those people horrified about what box was ticked on the death certificate, or framing it on the wall if the ‘right’ box was ticked

This fully functioning hole….in all seriousness what is actually meant by that term? I’m presuming they mean it isn’t just a weeping wound and therefore can be penetrated? Is that the function they mean?

God, if that’s the case….holes are functional because they enable penetration only, it’s full misogyny.

I remember Germaine Greer once talking about smelly hairy vaginas, I was a bit ewwww at the time but god she is so right…we all know this as women - yet here it is reduced to a ‘clean hole’ for penetration and that js its full function.

thegrain · 01/04/2023 08:44

How is the "cavity" fully functioning? Is it meant to be a vagina?

Cheekychops45 · 01/04/2023 08:45

Oh for fucks sake! This is all getting ridiculous. Are other countries like ours or are we the laughing stock of the world! It is attention seeking from someone that clearly needs help from professionals but not a surgeon! Yes we should be accepting of all sexual orientations and not project hate but it’s too much now. I can’t pretend to even understand the they or them argument and I’m not going to even bother. I have too much shit going on in my own life to tread on eggshells with these precious people crying for attention
